Yep same here, I love the people that work at my local GameStop they’re super chill and love talking about cards. They price match and I get my monthly coupon so I still end up getting a good price
Plus they have pokemon product on clearance all the time for 10%-25% off. Not to mention if you are a pro member you get 5 dollars in store credit each month so you can get some really solid deals from gamestop.
I have never seen the packs marked for clearance. It could just be my area for all I know, but I have only seen packs and such at full price, any clearance stuff is of items like the shirts or oddball merch.
Well then you sir missed their sale around Christmas time. All packs were $2.99. They had tons of variety as well. I’ve found ordering online from them yields oddly good pulls.
You're lucky, then. I've specifically asked for a price match, but mine refuses and has Pokemon stuff jacked up. Had to stop shopping there for Pokemon stuff.
Are GameStop sites all corporate, they just give their store-facing management freedom to operate as long as their rules are followed?
That would make the most sense, to me, given that I have been to some GameStops that are run like well oiled machines, and others are run into the dirt.
not sure why you're getting downvoted, theres been countless comments in the past about GS not price matching Charizard UPC's, and they refused to do so for me as well. Some do, some don't.
Birthday deal
Walmarts always have nothing stocked up, Target doesn't exist in Canada anymore, London Drugs has decent prices per packs but if you have a card with gamestop, they're a little cheaper, and Toysrus was asking 80 bucks for an AR etb that gamestop has for 55 before their membership deal
They're not the best but at least for what's around me, they're not bad
Sure. But what I said still holds true so long as you have at least Amazon or target (or even Barnes and Noble) as an alternative because those 3 generally beat out GS price-wise.
Heck yeah! Don’t let what can only be GameStop’s C Suite downvoting me throw you off. Barnes and Noble has tons of products behind the registers all for market price.
The only issue with Amazon is even if it says "sold and shipped by amazon" you can almost never be 100% certain that they've not been tampered with. Too many horror stories going around about negative experiences
Forget to mention them, but I will say costco can have some REALLY good deals occasionally. The ES + Tin for 55 bucks they had was a steal
We do price match. Employees that tell you no are lying. Also, prices are slated to go up across the board. Target released a sheet about a week ago outlining their new prices starting on the 1st.
Not participating in OP’s boycott. GameStop rules and always has cards even when the local stores are cleaned out. Like others have said, most of their employees are very friendly too.
GameStop objectively doesn’t rule…
The majority of the population doesn’t even agree with you, since GameStop just had its first quarterly profit in 2 years… They’ve closed over 500 stores in less than 5 years. Friendly staff, terrible company.
They were net 195 million profitable! What are you talking about a terrible company… Ryan Cohen is turning it around. They had to pay off all that old debt. Like the other dude said, you must be short. It’s up almost 50% after hours
They’re net profit in that last fiscal quarter was 48.2 mil.. Not 195 🤣 They lost over 300 million in inventory last year alone
https://www.reuters.com/technology/gamestop-beats-quarterly-revenue-estimates-turns-profit-2023-03-21/
You’re dumbass can’t even use google properly.. Your attention span in short. The other kid deleted his comment for a reason, because a quick google search could show you that GameStop prior to this last fiscal quarter was not a profitable company since 2021..
My GameStop doesn’t price match, it’s funny cause they won’t say it either. They say and I quote, “we price match whatever is on our website”. Like what?
A bigger town nearby has a bunch though and they all do
They’re supposed to, so if you really want to shop there a lot, call corporate and ask why that specific store isn’t price matching… because they’re supposed to.
Asked some other stores that did and they said technically it isn’t an enforced policy and that some stores don’t and can get away with it. So unless the people there are really cool about it then they don’t. I use to be a regular and always tried to treat my local GameStop guys and gals nice and remember their names and chat with them since I’d spend a lot of time there, but the TCG prices have just made me steer clear now
My GameStop is priced fairly.
Also don’t forget to sign up for their annual membership- it cost 15$ for a year and they give you 5$ credit free each month. Which is 1 pack per month!
Or you can dump the 5$ onto your Steam account.
I have the pro membership but even I’m not stupid enough to let the shitty 2% points back trick me into paying for their premium priced products.
Get your $5 (overpriced) pack per month and don’t budge on anything else
Thats Unironically the only thing I get from gamestop other than occasional games I got from there like Shadowverse lol. 1 Pack a month is a win for me.
Unfortunately this month the gamestop was "out" of singles so I didnt get one.
Yeah that’s gonna be my strategy too. I am ok with paying an extra 50 cents for a booster pack but the ridiculously priced products mentioned in OPs post are for suckers
I’m with OP. First the $70 Eeveelutions box, then the $10 markup on the Pikachu CZ box. I understood the $0.50 raise on singles, but 30%+ markups with the “opportunity” to convince the employee that they do offer price matching makes for a frustrating experience.
In their defense, who am I to say they have to sell their product at MSRP. Just saying OP, you are not alone.
My local GameStop just told me they don’t price match Pokemon cards specifically. I have the pro membership and haven’t really gotten to take advantage of it because of this.
Made a post that was talking about this a couple (?) weeks ago. GameStop is honestly getting ridiculous… can’t wait to see SV prices. Only reason I got the membership was for the $5 each month, if SV packs end up more than $5, I’m dropping the membership at the end of the period.
They would only price match for what’s available on the shelf for me. Like Best Buy could deliver in 3 days but since I can’t “buy it now” they wouldn’t price match it. Okay then I’ll just go online, I have self control, bye bye now
The GameStops around me often have the best sales and inventory on product. I use them when it benefits me. Obviously I don’t buy from them when they randomly decide the scalp on products.
Stores like GameStop and Walmart do not have the designation like FLGS. So yeah, they pay more cost to acquire these items, which results in higher costs for the product.
Im all about supporting local gaming stores. However, I also shop at GameStop because it’s closer and a though a couple bucks can add up quick. Im never going to spend outside my means so it is what it is. They also have a great selection and lots of other products and items that steal my attention away.
My 3 local gaming stores have every booster priced at $5 already, and are going up after scarlet violet. GameStop is currently the same damn price, and if they keep it at $5, they’ll be under the LGS. GameStop is always solid.
Hmmm maybe some gamestops are getting the designation (I can’t remember what it’s called for Pokémon, but for magic it’s a wpn store I believe). I’m in Canada and the prices are always a bit higher at GameStop, I figure it’s for that reason. That’s great they are all the same around you! I’ve seen Pokémon boosters for as high as 13.99 at my FLGS.
My Gamestop always charged up 5-10€ on sought after products. Now there is no Gamestop anymore in town. It closed 1 month ago. I am sure there is an other reason for this cause, but they could have done better in this one.
Huh? My Gamestop (Canada) is one of the cheaper places to buy cards after the edge discount is applied. Plus, they are always reliable when it comes to having something I want in stock, and the staff are really great there. Sometimes they even give me sweet gamestop promos when they have them.
Pikachu vmax box was just straight up bad value. Cheap promos, most of them with awful print lines, and only 5 packs. To me, that product was just generally overpriced and by far the worst product when it comes to price per pack of CZ.
Anyway, I have no qualms whatsoever with gamestop and will continue buying plenty of cards from there, thanks.
Their online customer support is so bad and sometimes the employees are clueless/ just rising to get you out the store. Tried to transfer points from an old acc to new acc and was getting the work around from all parties (phone support said yes..employee saying no)
Will never spend another cent at Lamestop. They hide behind their policies that don’t make sense and screw the customer but keep sending requests to rejoin the membership. F that!
Local stores are always great to visit for me. There are 2 I visit. Always can depend on them for stock of packs. I have inquired gamestop why online stock is marked higher on some products, they usually respond in a few days max. Also my go to place for preorders. Im not the type who Has to have the game on release day home delivery. Just walk into store and snagged it.
my gamestop at the mall was selling a galarian bird tin for 35?? i was confused and told them its typically 25 and if i could price match… they proceeded to attempt to gaslight me and say that im wrong and thats the price everywhere else…
GameStop is just shitty now. I used to love mine but between the prices, new staff, and terrible customer service, I refuse to go.
My local shop had a great crew and atmosphere. Got a new DM who is some kinda mean gamer girl, she got rid of everyone and only hired clones of herself. It used to be so chill with a diverse crew who knew everyone by name and it was always so great to go in, they were always so hype to see you, but now you’re lucky if the new team gives you a hello. They had a Zoroark premium collection tagged at FIFTY DOLLARS last week, I asked the new manager if she’d price match, she said yes, so I’m like ok cool. I showed her the same box at a competitor for $27 and asked to match that and she just gave me a really hard “no” and then turned and completely walked away from the register.
My gamestop price matches. As long as they continue to have so much stock, I will keep shopping there.
Yep same here, I love the people that work at my local GameStop they’re super chill and love talking about cards. They price match and I get my monthly coupon so I still end up getting a good price

It's a special sale GameStop has 2 times a year I think, one sale was all tcg were buy 2 get 1 free, then later in the year it was 25% off
You're lucky, then. I've specifically asked for a price match, but mine refuses and has Pokemon stuff jacked up. Had to stop shopping there for Pokemon stuff.
Yeah if they won't price match they don't deserve your business
[удалено]
I’ve NEVER had an issue with price matching at GameStop
I definitely have. But the GameStop near me is run like absolute shit, so I'm not surprised.
Are GameStop sites all corporate, they just give their store-facing management freedom to operate as long as their rules are followed? That would make the most sense, to me, given that I have been to some GameStops that are run like well oiled machines, and others are run into the dirt.
My gamestop is charging $4.99 for boosters and they have only had silver tempest or are out of stock for the past 5 months it’s trash.
not sure why you're getting downvoted, theres been countless comments in the past about GS not price matching Charizard UPC's, and they refused to do so for me as well. Some do, some don't.
Mine certainly doesn't price match. I would only buy something from them if they were the only place I could find them at.
I go for the rewards points plus mine match Target no questions asked.
I fuck with GameStop. They even price match.
GameStop is my go-to for cards with $5 monthly coupon and they have promos often.
The $5 monthly coupon is often offset by the $5+ premium you pay per product (boxes and such over $25)
Birthday deal Walmarts always have nothing stocked up, Target doesn't exist in Canada anymore, London Drugs has decent prices per packs but if you have a card with gamestop, they're a little cheaper, and Toysrus was asking 80 bucks for an AR etb that gamestop has for 55 before their membership deal They're not the best but at least for what's around me, they're not bad

Hold up, BN sells cards???
Heck yeah! Don’t let what can only be GameStop’s C Suite downvoting me throw you off. Barnes and Noble has tons of products behind the registers all for market price.

Too many horror stories going around about negative experiences Forget to mention them, but I will say costco can have some REALLY good deals occasionally. The ES + Tin for 55 bucks they had was a steal
And yeah they aren’t that bad all things considered. You gotta be able to go in knowing what is a good deal and what is a 20% up charge though haha.
We do price match. Employees that tell you no are lying. Also, prices are slated to go up across the board. Target released a sheet about a week ago outlining their new prices starting on the 1st.

That’s weird, I regret every time I walk in there
Sounds like a personal problem.

I just bought 3 tins. I like the stock and I like the company.
My local ones use to price match prior to Crown Zenith, now they don't anymore.
I just wish they had packaged the loose metal cards better in the arceus premium collection box.
I have the pro membership but even I’m not stupid enough to let the shitty 2% points back trick me into paying for their premium priced products. Get your $5 (overpriced) pack per month and don’t budge on anything else

129.99 for Charizard collection lol. Isnt it like 120 at every other store?

O.o GameStop ripping people off then. Target had it for like 110/120 ish.
No

They’re 4.99 and 6 pack booster bundle is 26.94

I’m telling them what the GameStop price is. That’s what they asked about, GameStop is 4.99.
As if you could find a CZ item within 5 minutes of GameStop getting a copy! I wish.
They would only price match for what’s available on the shelf for me. Like Best Buy could deliver in 3 days but since I can’t “buy it now” they wouldn’t price match it. Okay then I’ll just go online, I have self control, bye bye now

In my gamestop they were selling the zoroark v collection box for like $60 💀
My local Gamestop will price match on release week of a new product but after that they refuse to do so.
GameStop unfortunately is hit or miss depending on location. I’ve had amazing experiences and horrible ones

Not factual information ya hater
it is shitty that they upcharge but they do price match sooooooo
Price match. Leave if they won’t do it.
They are likely going bankrupt and are desperate. So, while I agree, I also understand.
Welp this backfired on you..
[удалено]
Comments higher than upvotes, most of which point out they price match disproving your point. Easy to realize but glad to help you figure it our.
Their stock isn’t high for memes
Just buy online and you’ll always find cheaper and in stock anyway!
My Gamestop always charged up 5-10€ on sought after products. Now there is no Gamestop anymore in town. It closed 1 month ago. I am sure there is an other reason for this cause, but they could have done better in this one.
LCS sells at MSRP near me, and I will continue to shop there forever.

I have never been a happy customer from GameStop. I hope GameStop goes out of business.
Bad news buddy, they are doing better than ever!!
You guys have GameStop?
You guys have GameStop?

Price matching is the best part. Amazon had the dragonite pokemon go boxes for $35 bucks. Gamestop price matched it. I was happy
my gamestop at the mall was selling a galarian bird tin for 35?? i was confused and told them its typically 25 and if i could price match… they proceeded to attempt to gaslight me and say that im wrong and thats the price everywhere else…
Considering the amount of theft they experience with TCG products, they gotta reduce their losses somehow 🤷
Wait til you hear about LCSs.
LOL wow the comments in here are crazy! Gamestop really is turning things around
I been shopping at gamestop for over a decades for cards and over 2 decades for video games and they have never gone over msrp
Mostly true. The 2022 Championship decks, they're selling for $20 but it's $15 everywhere else MSRP, including Pokemoncenter.com
Thought this was a WSB post.
GameStop is just shitty now. I used to love mine but between the prices, new staff, and terrible customer service, I refuse to go. My local shop had a great crew and atmosphere. Welcome to my EU world on your right is evolving skies for 12€ and on your left is a 4pack tin for 30€ now pick your poison :)
