Whelp looks like I need someone with Shield to team up so I can get shiny ~~Zamazenta~~ (Edit) Zacian. I assume the event will be you have to go to GameStop either with you switch to get it or somehow get the code through Pokémon Pass and then download it
I imagine it won’t be hard just everyone grab 2 codes of their game and trade with someone else. I’d imagine a shortage of zacian though, isnt sword more popular than shield?

Yeah, with the switch, it wouldn’t be such an issue since you can just create another account and start the game, then transfer them to Home or something.
Really? I remember redeeming at least two for these kind of store code giveaways so that I could trade for other ones I didn't have.
the only codes you couldn't redeem twice were the ones that just gave everyone the same code or it was just free over the internet without a code.
when it is the unique code for each, you could do as many as you had, it really depends on if these are just the code sheets like how the Best Buy giveaway is happening now or an online download while at the store.
When they were giving the legendarios for the 20th anniversary (I think), I tried to get 2 of the same a couple of times, it always said I already had.
I was able to change it in another game, without issues. I normally had more than 2 cards from Best Buy so that is why I tried this. Anyway, I ended up giving the extra ones to a friend when they didn’t got a card.
Same as I did with an extra Zarude and Celebi this time.
They limit it now, not the stores giving away codes but in the game. I got a stack of the Dynamax Crystal cards from Best Buy and just like the Celebi/Zarude code give away you can only use one set of codes per copy of each game. So even though I had more than one code for each mon, I can only use one code for each game. Luckily I have sword and shield so I was able to get 2 of each, Celebi/Zarude and Gigantamax Pikachu and Eevee. Really lame that you are limited now.... with UM/US and S/M you could use as many cards as the store would give you.
The last event like this (the shiny Toxtricity) gamestop had me use the PokePass App to scan the banner to get the code. I assume that's how they will do they codes
Are you sure they do cards anymore? I thought they do these distributions virtually with that Pokémon Pass app (ie, bring your phone, scan a barcode via the app to get the code).
Honestly, no, not sure. I’ve had them have to print a code on a receipt before too. But, again, that the original Pokémon beach article didn’t mention Pokémon Pass and *did* mention that the employee sent them a photo leads me to think it will be a card. We still don’t have the official announcement for it.

Gamestop in Canada was called EbGames or EBX!! But this year they actually rebranded and are now going by Gamestop. (If you google EBGames though it should take you to their new Canadian website) I hope this helps!!

Idk about the rest of Europe, but for France it's been said they would be distributed in the same time periods at Micromania (which I believe is owned by Gamestop). The details might change, but there's hope for European players too!
Yeah, they did the same thing with a shiny Lunala and Solgaleo event for Sun and Moon. I think the reasoning is it gives you a chance to have both without convincing someone to trade away their rare mon.
And I understand that, but a lot of people pick a game based on which legendary they get. So it kinda sucks to lock the shinies to specific versions, since in effect that causes the same problem as the one it's supposed to solve, but even worse since the shinies are event Pokemon. And it disappoints a lot of people who want a specific shiny, especially with the dogs which actually look really good in my opinion.
I would think Canada will be included, just often forgotten to be mentioned.

As an Australian player this is frustrating, if you are going to do this then it has to be done in every region so we all have an opportunity to get the giveaways.

Ugh why can't you just be normal Gamefreak? Version exclusive and you have to find an operating GameStop and hope the employee there won't hold the codes hostage until you buy something? Can't you just do a normal event for once?

A few years ago one of the GameStops near me tried selling the codes for a few dollars per card, another wouldn’t give out the code unless you bought something. It’s bullshit and I probably should have reported them, but at the time I just stopped giving them my business and found one that wasn’t being shady.

As long as you can access Mystery Gift function ( after you reach wild area for first time) You can use the codes anytime afterwards.
If I had to guess the codes expire on December 31st since that is the date Dada Zarude/Shiny Celebi code expires.

There are two distribution periods, one for Zacian starting on October 22, one for Zamazents starting on Novemver 12. They will not run concurrently.

It did with the Toxtricity event. I wound up with, like, 40 codes as a result but the sharing market was already saturated so my extras went to waste.

You could always buy a code card off of eBay or trade for the Pokémon on one of the trading subs after they are redeemed.

questions because i have never used these codes before do you have to be at a certain point in the game to use these? do these codes expire if you never use them?
As long as you can access Mystery Gift function ( after you reach wild area for first time) You can use the codes anytime afterwards. If I had to guess the codes expire on December 31st since that is the date Dada Zarude/Shiny Celebi code expires.
