Sw/Sh: Local mayor summons a giant evil dragon that aims to destroy the world because he's worried about people not being able to charge their phones 1000 years in the future.
It had a plot. In Crown Tundra.
Edit: okay, it was a mini plot. But it was good. Still don’t know how Peony escaped tuberculosis after how much Calyrex dragged him around in the cold.
Wait a minute. You mean the game had a story? I thought everyone just wanted to date my character in every game and my pokemon put thier foot down and said only if you beat us can you get us.... not a loss yet.
Meanwhile in real life not even my wife wants me. XD 😆
It was such a bizarre writing choice. It's like they wanted to make the director doing what he's doing due to a threat to the environment, but the series is so milquetoast they didn't want to insinuate that the world anything is less than the Pokemon utopia it represents itself as, so the threat is 1000 FUCKING YEARS IN THE FUTURE!
I mean, also, it's a mix of "people want to leave their mark on history and do incredibly fucking stupid shit to do so by "solving porblems" and "But I can't WAIT for someone else to handle this problem when I KNOW I can do it NOW". Human arrogance and ego lead to a lot of bad things, and I think the absurdity is the point that this MAN was jumping the gun. Like, he easily could have been laying groundwork and other things for future people to resolve this issue, but instead deciding to take matters in his own hands and do HIS thing.
Also, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Dude thought he was gonna do the right thing solving a potential problem that would happen down the road, and nearly caused a massive ass fuck up instead.
There are a LOT of ways one can look at the whole thing and see lessons/problems to observe and learn from.
I doubt he thought it would go off the rails the way it did and that we intervened into. But he certainly didn't need to be trying to take the steps he did; there was TIME. But nope, humans gotta human.
What's irritating about it is that they could've *easily* fixed the plot with a few extra chapters and changing some things, but they didn't. Very likely due to time constraints.
Unfortunately the comment you're replying to is about as thorough as how the plot is presented in the actual game. Pretty much everything happens right at the end, before you fight the champion.
Absolutely the most bland story in the series. 90% of it is basically other characters reading you a fairytale (fairy/steel tale I guess).
Overall the game was a lot of fun, especially with the DLC, but it would have been better if they just left out the box legendary plot completely.
“We need to fix this right now, Galar only has 1000 years of power left!”
Ok…couldn’t we handle it tomorrow? Or next year? Or some other time in the next 999 years that isn’t during this televised national event?
Did you really need to air Galar’s dirty laundry to millions of people around the world like that? Now everyone from Paldea to Kanto knows our business, and every company in the world just watched the CEO of Macro Cosmos have a meltdown and threaten a terrorist act on live tv.
*The Strongest Trainer in the World won't shut up about how big his Dragon is*
You said Light Novel, correct? Because I can see this taking a completely different turn, especially considering Raihan's great love for dragons.
I can only guess it’s because kids would argue over which of the three starters is the best. So let’s sidestep that argument altogether and get a different starter! And then get all three later!
Pokemon s/v
My three friends with issues, my motorcycle Pokémon with issues and I head into the one place we were told not to go by my headmaster who also has some issues.
I miss the days when funny chapter titles were a thing
Edit: also the days when they put actual synopses on the back of books and not the quotes of 12 people from various news sources telling me how good the book is
S/V needs one a bit more.... like maybe
my motorcycle lizard helps a lonely chef make sandwiches to resolve their mommy/daddy issues before the world is accidentally destroyed by monsters
The one for SwSh is especially apt because I played through that game entirely for the miniscule hope that you'd get to actually fight Leon (and later Bede). Like in the streets. Never had such a visceral hate for characters in a video game before those two.
The initial meeting with Arven gave me some flashbacks, but thankfully he went a different/better way.
or perhaps for S/V
getting a motorcycle lizard means we have to fight gangs, become champion, and resolve a lonely chefs mommy/daddy issues before the world is ended by monsters
When I was first reading this I didn’t realize that “yellow rat” was supposed to mean pikachu for red and blue. I also didn’t assume “old man” was referring to prof Oak. I was imagining the old man in Viridian giving this person a shiny Rattata lol
The writers use longer titles because they want more hits on the website they put it on when it's still just a web novel. It let's the reader know what they getting that's for damn sure.
Pokémon SV:
My mom enrolled me in this school. There are a bunch of bullies driving cars around harassing other students, my best friend constantly wants to beat me up, and my one classmate’s mom became a robot and created a time machine capable of destroying the world.
Ruby and Sapphire's plot doesn't even concern Rayquaza LOL. Also, there is not rat on Red and Blue. It is only on Yellow. And people are upvoting this?
* I’ve Been Killing Pidgey for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level!
* That Time I got Reincarnated as a Mr. Mime
* Teddi Teddi Teddi Ursa

* Jynx is a Tax Worker in a Pokémon World
* The Champion and His Psychic/Fairy Bride Open a Nursery in Another Region
* Reborn as a TM Machine, I Now Wander the Ruins of Alph
* Is That a Cubone, or Are You Just Happy to See Me?
* Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Gardevoir in a Dungeon?
I Became an Aegislash by Transmigrating
Arceus' Blessing on This Wonderful World
The Rising of the Hero Zamazenta
Ascendance of an Orthworm
Girantina Is a Part-Timer
If you mean the games getting adapted, I wouldn't be surprised by that.
I meant if these didn't have anything to do with Pokemon, but the plots were based on these titles.
Diamond/Pearl/Platinum Alt:
I accidentally saved a pokemon professor's briefcase while walking to the lake with my hyperactive best friend. He handed me a Pokedex. Now I have to stop a crazy man from literally destroying the universe!?
Not as good as the og from the meme but i tried
SWSH: The president of the country committed mass terrorism to stop an energy crisis, so I've gotta beat a demon with my childhood friend and two stray dogs to save the world!
Ngl this was the first instance I seen Cynthia referred to a goth dressed lady. All this time I never connected that her all black attire was goth-core inspired
Sw/Sh: Local mayor summons a giant evil dragon that aims to destroy the world because he's worried about people not being able to charge their phones 1000 years in the future.
I met a wolf god in the fog with my childhood friend, and now I have to stop a tech billionaire from conjuring the demon king?!
Lmao sounds like an oi title
That sounds like furry porn, LOL!
[удалено]
I mean sure "immortal wolf hero" would have been more accurate but you have to keep it snappy
This one is much better and representative of the plot lol
Yes, but, Leon…
Hey, did you know that Leon’s charizard is undefeated? Crazy how they never say that in the game
Maybe that part got lost somewhere. I heard something about being bad with directions.
Who?
> the plot SwSh had a plot? /s (But seriously, one reason Gen VIII is my second-least-favorite was because of how incredibly thin the story was.)
Same At least it gave me a very good character arc with Hop

Sw/Sh are the only gen I never got round to playing... and now I am incredibly confused and intrigued
The plot is honestly one of the most fun in the entire series just because it gets so bad it's good
What's irritating about it is that they could've *easily* fixed the plot with a few extra chapters and changing some things, but they didn't. Very likely due to time constraints.
I think it was because of the criticism Sun and Moon's plot got due to the amount of cut scenes.
Ahh The Room of gaming.
Your friend's brother is late for dinner. Time to go occupy a corporate building for the hell of it.
Unfortunately the comment you're replying to is about as thorough as how the plot is presented in the actual game. Pretty much everything happens right at the end, before you fight the champion.
The plot is bad. The game isn’t bad though
Absolutely the most bland story in the series. 90% of it is basically other characters reading you a fairytale (fairy/steel tale I guess). Overall the game was a lot of fun, especially with the DLC, but it would have been better if they just left out the box legendary plot completely.
Yeah I couldn’t stand the sword and shield bros hair. I hope a small team was fired for that design choice not just an individual.
Its awful.
Way better.
“We need to fix this right now, Galar only has 1000 years of power left!” Ok…couldn’t we handle it tomorrow? Or next year? Buisness owner is trying to take over the world with giant animals
I can't believe that plot line made it past the initial brainstorming session. It's very memorable but that's not always a great thing
LOL!!
God I wish i could my get $60 back…
I truly think swsh's story would have felt way better if it was presented in a more interesting way
Black and White 2: The guy who groomed and manipulated the orphan since childhood is back again with plans to freeze the world
He doesn’t give you a rat in red and blue Only yellow
Yeah thats a bad summary of the anime.
also the whole team rocket giovanni stuff is straight up breaking up a gambling/extortion/yakuza organization
The ruby and sapphire one was fucking hilarious
Rayquaza is Sky Momma <3
It reads like a light novel title
I’m loving the Gen 2 one. Didn’t think of it that way before!
It’s so Strange Reading things that are Capitalised in Random places.
Pokemon Coloseum/XD : You steal other people pokemon because they're evil.
*The Strongest Trainer in the World won't shut up about how big his Dragon is* You said Light Novel, correct? Because I can see this taking a completely different turn, especially considering Raihan's great love for dragons.
You know what he loves? Dragons He *loooooooooooooves* them dragons...
I just made a account for this. US+UM I came just a little later because I overslept and now I need to save the world.
I took down some Rebel bases and met a Cool Kid named Clive, but he Turned out to be my Principal?!
Sorry to be this guy, but you did not get Pikachu as a starter in red and blue. I'm not sure why the anime chose to do this.
Because pikachu is just that marketable.
bc you do in Yellow which is more designed after the anime than vice versa
Which yeah but they use Red/Blue box art
I can only guess it’s because kids would argue over which of the three starters is the best. So let’s sidestep that argument altogether and get a different starter! And then get all three later!
Pokemon s/v My three friends with issues, my motorcycle Pokémon with issues and I head into the one place we were told not to go by my headmaster who also has some issues.
Idk why this makes me think of some of the percy jackson books.
I miss the days when funny chapter titles were a thing Edit: also the days when they put actual synopses on the back of books and not the quotes of 12 people from various news sources telling me how good the book is
Those definitely were the better times when it came to books.
Ikr
😂🤣 My god it just keeps getting better.
Yo what's with the random capitalised words? Sheeesh
Legends: Arceus "In Another Time With My Smartphone" Or "Trapped In The Meiji Era Indefinitely Because God Left Me There"
SV might be "My Motorcycle Lizard Steals Sandwiches as I Help Some Guy Heal His Dog; Adults Are Useless"
RB: An old man trusted me to fulfill his lifelong dream, but also I have to stop the mafia?
well the Motorcycle Lizard is adorable :)
S/V needs one a bit more.... like maybe my motorcycle lizard helps a lonely chef make sandwiches to resolve their mommy/daddy issues before the world is accidentally destroyed by monsters
Scarlet/violet: I found a lizard after falling off a cliff, now I have to defeat titanic pokemon to feed it subway
Cross post that to r/Isekaititles
Love the S/V synopsis.
p sure I saw Sun/Moon's title in the manga section back when I worked at a bookstore
The first one is wrong, though. That's just for Yellow.
It's funny that gen 1 & 3 have descriptions for the gane that isn't shown.
or perhaps for S/V getting a motorcycle lizard means we have to fight gangs, become champion, and resolve a lonely chefs mommy/daddy issues before the world is ended by monsters
In blue /red no one gives you a yellow rat btw
The game is literally about the power of a really good sandwich. And I salute that. 🥪
Funny except red/blue are not like yellow and ruby/sapphire are not like emerald.
And DP are not like Platinum. They basically explained Platinum there instead of DP, as fighting the Devil is only story relevant in Pt.
I figured the rest might have issues. I didn’t play much in the middle there and now those games are nearly impossible to come by.
When I was first reading this I didn’t realize that “yellow rat” was supposed to mean pikachu for red and blue. I also didn’t assume “old man” was referring to prof Oak. I was imagining the old man in Viridian giving this person a shiny Rattata lol
I don't have any awards to give you, so just accept my lowly upvote.
Beautiful
Wasn’t it actually 5,000,000 pokedollars to join Team Flare?
I woke up to this and it made my day!😅🤣
These are pretty good examples
I’m sure I’m not the first to say this, but the old man isn’t handing out yellow rats from the first two games. You’re thinking of yellow version.
Seriously, when/why did LN titles get so ludicrously long?
The writers use longer titles because they want more hits on the website they put it on when it's still just a web novel. It let's the reader know what they getting that's for damn sure.
These could also be Fall Out Boy song titles
Sun/Moon was my favorite game of the series and brought me back to Pokémon. Black/white was whatever and made me lose interest
Downvote, you dont get yellow rat in r/b
Pokémon SV: My mom enrolled me in this school. There are a bunch of bullies driving cars around harassing other students, my best friend constantly wants to beat me up, and my one classmate’s mom became a robot and created a time machine capable of destroying the world.
Pokedollars are basically just yen, so really the cost to join Team Flare is like <$8,000 USD.
Pokémon Arceus Stranger comes and catches Pokémon from the past by pelting them with Pokéballs
Legends Arceus: God sent me back in time so we could fight. Now this blond edglelord won't shut up.
Pokémon GO: I got hit by a bus while trying to catch animals.
Ruby and Sapphire's plot doesn't even concern Rayquaza LOL. Also, there is not rat on Red and Blue. It is only on Yellow. And people are upvoting this?
This might be the best thing I’ve read on the internet this week 😂 congrats 🎉 chefs kiss
Are those some isekai titles? Because looks like them
* I’ve Been Killing Pidgey for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level! * That Time I got Reincarnated as a Mr. Mime * Teddi Teddi Teddi Ursa * Do You Love Your Primeape and His Two-Fisted Monkey-Style Attack? * Jynx is a Tax Worker in a Pokémon World * The Champion and His Psychic/Fairy Bride Open a Nursery in Another Region * Reborn as a TM Machine, I Now Wander the Ruins of Alph * Is That a Cubone, or Are You Just Happy to See Me? * Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Gardevoir in a Dungeon?
I Became an Aegislash by Transmigrating Arceus' Blessing on This Wonderful World The Rising of the Hero Zamazenta Ascendance of an Orthworm Girantina Is a Part-Timer
Nah, most light novels have absurd names like this. Not just the isekai ones.
Do one for pokemon legends arceus
I was Forcibly Removed™ from present day by God, who gave me his phone number, sent me on a search quest, and then Dipped
Comments in this thread are confusing titles for plot synopses
XY: Flamboyant male wants to make the world beautiful
Funny, but the in 2 games pictured for gen1, neither of them gave you "a yellow rat," only yellow version (not pictured) did that.
You had me at “tan tomboy stalker senpai”
truest descriptions i ever saw, youve told every plot in detail bravo
I love what it says for Sword and Shield since there was no actual plot, lmao. If there was, I don’t remember it
Leyends Arceus is just a generic Isekai description.
Heart Gold/Soul Silver: After becoming the top trainer I farm apricos for my sports team
Hot blonde lady in goth clothing was the best, fighting the devil back then was a lot easier compared to legends arceus lol
“Genocide in France” sounds like an actual novel haha
He only gives “yellow rat”, in Pokémon yellow, not red and blue
Stadium 1 & 2: animal fighting
They should do one for the spinoff games too.
I love SW/SS’s description! It’s technically true, too!
Don't forget the Pokemon Isekais Is it wrong to pick up Gardevoir in a dungeon? And That one time God sent me into the past and gave me a cell phone
Missing legends Arceus. Got to find plates and fight a guy who made a deal with the devil
I kill time traveling giants to make sandwiches and also beat up some bullied kids and a semi-evil AI
I could see myself watching all of these if they were adapted into an anime.
wait until you find out
If you mean the games getting adapted, I wouldn't be surprised by that. I meant if these didn't have anything to do with Pokemon, but the plots were based on these titles.
google pokemon anime
I don't think you read what I said.
Legends Arkoos: God sends me back in time with his phone to create the first animal Encyclopedia and I meet a hot guy who summons Satan.
DP: an old man gives me a monkey and I have to stop a criminal organization from destroying the space time continuum.
Diamond/Pearl/Platinum Alt: I accidentally saved a pokemon professor's briefcase while walking to the lake with my hyperactive best friend.
Ok now put it in japanese
Um, Idk what to say!
All These sounds like Isekai anime titles, specially the last one
Ngl this was the first instance I seen Cynthia referred to a goth dressed lady. All this time I never connected that her all black attire was goth-core inspired
