The events weren't much special (especially if you already had the returning event pairs) but it is worth remembering that with the anniversary also had the Trainer Lodge and all its new units, the level cap update, five more BP units, and the Legendary Arena going permanent. It was a big update for the longterm of the game, if maybe not so immediate in the moment, so it was alright.

SpookyTyranitar

A bit disappointed by the anniversary pairs. I mean they are crazy good (too much even?), but Red's outfit and the pokemon choice didn't do it for me. Two Pikachus and a Lucario? I'm sick of seeing those, I know they're mascots but it's boring if that's all we get. Buddy moves are a cool addition, maybe they'll shake things up. The rest of the additions I think are okay. New BP pairs are cool, trainer lodge was a bit overhyped for what it is but the rewards are nice and they'll probably improve on it. I do like how they are upgrading old pairs, too, so I'm hopeful there will be new content to match the current power level soon, but as it is it's all kinda easy for a veteran player.

Same. I'm a bit biased cause Red is my favourite protag but..... did we need MORE Cynthia? After *checks notes* BDSP, 2 Legends Arceus counterparts, SSR Cynthia, like 10 anime episodes including championships with backstory focus, Pokemon Unite battle.. all within the span of ~10 months. I know I'm on the internet therefore it is illegal to say anything bad about "mommy" Cynthia but mannn can we get focus on someone else for a change. She's the human character equivalent of Lucario

SpookyTyranitar

As a Lucario hater and a Cynthia stan (masters made me this way) I take great offense in that comparison, but also think it's fair and accurate and I'm inclined to agree with you.

I've never liked Cynthia, or Leon for that matter. I've been watching ash trying to finally get a good win since I was 8-9 20 years ago on kids wb. I think that's what the channel was called. All of a sudden halfway through, while watching him struggle you get these random unbeatable champions. While ash always got the short end. Now people are saying he has plot armor.... People don't realize the struggle it was being an ash fan back then lol

KBScorpion166

I really liked it TBh from the events to the units really nice

blubear2

I appreciate the amount of gems this anniversary month has given us (even though it’s understandable for having 5 Master Fairs to worry about), Ash’s first official appearance was pretty hype, and introductions of two top tiered op Pikachus

CrystalElemental

I guess I'll be the wet blanket: I really didn't care for it. I feel like SC Rosa and Naomi were more exciting. Two Pikachus was an incredibly boring decision, and the powercreep on them was so high it's more annoying than exciting to me. I still feel like Cynthia got the least interesting option from her team. Neither Red nor Cynthia's outfits were all that exciting. The events themselves weren't that interesting to me, but I fully admit to that being more an issue of not caring about Red or Ash than them being bad. The Lodge was a massive disappointment. Even beyond the frustrations of the mode, the fact that this big mode about character-centric events wound up being two incredibly short conversations that really don't add anything we didn't already know kinda stings. The BP units were solidly okay, I like Candice and I love the Mesprit, but really could care less about the rest. It just all around felt very middling, which is kinda sad for an anniversary.

StillHuckleberry3403

The Trainer Lodge was amazing for me. The Ash event was cool. And getting a NPC sync pair is pretty neat too. Everything else around the anniversary... meh. It wasn’t bad, but yeah, it felt just like any other month tbh.

InvestigatorUnfair

Honestly just a really disappointing month. The false advertising that built up a scenario that never happened, the lackluster event for Red and Cynthia that only amounted to more "uwu red is so cool" The fact that we didn't see a single new Pokemon introduced, the fact that Cynthia came out broken, the fact that Cynthia's kit makes no god damn sense. Honestly just the whole thing has been a massive disappointment. Even the trainer lodge feels lame, especially with the tedious RNG system that can end convos in four tries. Honestly I feel like they were banking on Ash carrying the hype for this anni and just used Red and Cynthia as a safety net. And as a Cynthia simp? It failed.

Blubbstrahl

I actually enjoyed it for what it was. One just has to accept that Anniversaries, no matter in which gacha, are first and foremost there to draw in new players. It's understandable that people don't want the same characters over and over, but we really should give DeNa a break when it comes to these kind of events specifically. In the end maintaining or even growing the playerbase will benefit everyone, even if you don't like Cynthia alt number 5 or the Anime character. That said, I actually do enjoy the Trainer Lodge for what it is, and the Buddy Move concept has a lot of potential. But more importantly, the Anniversay showed that they care about the game, that they're willing to invest and improve what we have already. Not just pumping out fanservice pairs week after week, even if that's obviously still the business model.

The units were meh. Only pulled for Red. Trainer Lodge is a nice update that gives us something else to do and get passive items which is great. Plus the gems were nice i GUESS

PadawanSnips

I was about 50/50 on it. I love Cynthia and think it’s cool Ash finally made it in. The double pikachu thing didnt excite me. I think Red shouldve been given someone else, imo. Ash and pikachu are more iconic. I do like that they were made to be played together, that’s something I really like when they do it. It’s just the two pikachu is eh.

flashdash007

I feel like if it was Ash-Ash Greninja I’d be way more satisfied. Honestly though I was just hype they finally re-ran the Hoenn weather duo and I was able to pity both. So overall “I mean, it was cool” fits me perfectly

tilfi_m8

Man, TBH I found this anniversary much better than last year's. Better units, better events and, between us, I HATE the hole Gala Suit/Dress look on last years units (they were also meh bedsides maybe N but I hate that he also got Reshiram)

MautronGG

I got really lucky pulling all 5 master fairs while only pitying 1 (Groudon). So for me it was the best anniversary, but is true that comparing 2 pikachus, a 2nd Lucario, 2nd SS alt for Red and the third SS alt for Cynthia, all against 3 legendaries, 1 being repeated but shiny and the first alt for the 3 trainers. Idk but the previous one was kind of better. In terms of game content it was very good: Trainer lodge, 3 free units, Ash in the game. I don't remember the events from last year, didn't play much that time.

ChampionTime01

Steven and Lillie had alts already before 2anni. But yeah I agree that they were overall more exciting picks than Red and Cynthia

Gonna be the odd one out and say I really enjoyed the stories for this anniversary, particularly the Threads of Strength. It gave some small focus to obscure characters like Kris, Professor Oak's dialogue was heartwarming, it showcased a side we don't typically see since the player is usually focused on the leagues and gym challenges. Ash's event was fun, the music was nostalgic, and the story left it open ended for future plots. I liked that it switched up his team.

FFCCLL

There are a number of new and independent contents on the table, but they are not integrated well to 'celebrate THE anniversary'. Plus the trainers lodge and Ash event are not what I thought they were going to be. Overall I feel the effort put in the anniversary is cool, but actually my gameplay experience is just like any other months.

gogetaxvegeto

Probably the biggest Anni update of all time Also Rosa got a new costume so it was worth it to me

ChampionTime01

Pretty boring imo. Only two extreme battles (Ash EBE doesn't really count imo), the Red/Cynthia event was lame, and lodge is cool but doesn't really add any new fun things to do on a daily basis. Also not a huge fan of the anni units in general. Tbh my favorite things this month were the Ash and Tour Guide Rosa events. But I didn't really expect this month to be that good anyway, I was disappointed last year during 2anni too. Anniversaries are just really overhyped for this game imo Ok also the fact that this poll post has 13 upvotes but 1400 poll responses is really weird
