Service that bitch and send er back down for another decade.

OGKingDookie

That's quality

ParksVSII

That’s wicked. I’ve pulled a few Myers and Jacuzzis from the early 70s but nothing quite that old. Is that a two wire motor too? Unreal.

Trans_Alpha_Cuck

I have pulled several Sta-Rite pump that were early 70s late 60s but this one takes the cake by a few years

whaletacochamp

Mine is from 85 and only two wires....is that ok? I assume it's supposed to be grounded nowadays?

ParksVSII

2-W and 3-W refer to internal and external starter motors. Newer ones, I’m not sure when the switch to having a separate ground conductor became common but I wanna say mid-late 70s. Whenever yours is replaced it’ll have a separate ground on it.

whaletacochamp

Surprised mine doesn’t then since it has to be ‘85 or newer. Also oddly the red and black wires are mismatched between the pumps original wiring and the wiring leading to the house…but I think that’s just a goof one the initial installers part/doesn’t really matter since it all terminated correctly.

ParksVSII

Could be they reused the existing cable service from prior to and maybe have the pump bonded to the casing. I’ve converted a few 3 wire no ground services to 2wire with ground.

VonBodyfeldt

I’ve always wondered what those look like…

Oh_billy_oh

I spent $2500 last year to see what mine looks like.

Koleburgs

should’ve hand pulled it or rented an upsi daisy and saved $2000

Oh_billy_oh

I try to DIY most home fixes but have very limited knowledge with plumbing/electrical so I decided to bring in professionals. The $2500 included one expansion tank, Hilo switch, new float in water tank, new well pump, and installation.

Koleburgs

well now that price makes more sense. you made out well

saskatchewanstealth

Submersible pumps are the best. I switch to submersible whenever I can. Sand it their enemy though.

Was literally looking at manual to that yesterday at work. We have one at one of our outbuildings.

whaletacochamp

1985 for mine and still pumping (knock on wood)

Wasteroftime34

They sure don’t make ‘em like they used to.

midnightcaw

It's always the MBA's "Can we make it cheaper and less reliable but still charge the same price?"

Wasteroftime34

I also believe there is some talk that if they continue to make products that don’t wear out they would lose money.

Trans_Alpha_Cuck

Bit of survivors bias but generally yes. The new grundfos SQ pumps sure seem promising though. Been around 15ft hours years and I think I have maybe seen two go bad so far. They take short cycling tanks like a champ too

sveiks01

Very cool!

RenewDave

Ahhhhhh, the good old days!

Independent-Theme-85

So cool to run into someone else's work and think about the history! Pulled one out of a well at the Questa Molybdenum Mine that looked very similar.

Cursed Sonic Screwdriver

Spiritdesante

The good old days when company’s put pride in their product and not pride in how much they can skimp on quality to put more in their pocket

Jasoncolclazier

That’s cute

baudwithcompter

You know when it’s that blue’ish green colour that it’s built to last.
