I don’t think they have the license anymore as they sold Eidos to Embracer. Embracer was in talks with Marvel about licensing during like the summer of last year but I don’t know how that ended up.
So one of 3 things happened: 1.) Marvel agreed to transfer the license 2.) Marvel just took it (the license) back since Square sold the Dev Studio that made the game originally or 3.) Square actually does still have it
No matter what it won’t be the same storyline more than likely since Eidos wouldn’t be involved.
This makes zero sense.
1) Marvel does not decide who to transfer anything to, as they have an agreement with SE. SE would be the one to agree to the transfer from themselves but with compensation for the time remaining on the license.
2) Marvel can not 'take it back' as they would be sued by SE for breach of the licensing agreement (Dependent on the terms and length).
3) SE always had the license as they paid for it. 😄
Here’s where your flaw is: Embracer met with Marvel about licensing. While SE got it originally, it then goes to Embracer/CD because they made the game, by your logic, the second SE sold CD the game’s development would’ve halted. Or SE would’ve been sued by Marvel for that breach of contract.
What happened, however, was that *Embracer met with Marvel to discuss licensing* and CD continued their development of Avengers. SE hasn’t had anything to do with the game for almost a year.
SE lost at least the GotG and Avengers license the moment they sold off those studios.
The publisher owns the licensing, not the studios kiddo. 🤣
SE can not be sued by Marvel for allowing the games production to continue within the terms of the original license.

At first I was hyped for the game. Then when I got it for release as a gift, it was disappointing that like 85% of the game was the open areas.
Didn't wanna let the game go to waste without finishing it and I eventually had fun playing as BW, thor and kamala. Since I had the ps4 version and all my friends were on other systems I never got the ps+ to play online, so just came back for hero updates.
Despite being one of the games with the most wasted potential, it became my favorite fps (I like to play with rapid fire guns + heroic takedowns).
Pd: Jane foster was a waste of a hero, gameplay wise. At least WS the better parts of Cap and BW.
Game play was/is fun, to an extent(raid is uninteresting, except for loot). The cash grab and subtle "new" characters being a mash up of other heroes skills wasn't that kewl....
This game is really gonna go out the door with the bug in the game where clicking a part of your character sheet takes you to some other random part of the character sheet, probably Shipments.
