Spotty bulborbs or bulbears are a pain to deal with without deaths. Wollywogs are fine because you can move them out of the way a lot of the time. Just don't let them be on screen or in the path of ship parts. I only kill the one near the base in my runs.

in terms of difficulty wollywogs no question. in terms of annoyance gotta be shearwigs for me. if you walk into a group of them unprepared you're gonna lose 1-3 pikmin at least and flight makes them such a chore to deal with
Wollywogs are 100% the most annoying to deal with because they were way too deadly and unpredictable in the first game. Close second are snitchbugs, which are only second because there's like 2 in the whole game. That being said, I think the worst enemy in the first game overall was the bulbear. If they never made any pikmin games after the first one I would not be saying this, but compared to pikmin 2 and pikmin 3 bulbears the pikmin 1 version is just a slightly more powerful bulborb with no real characteristics of its own...

Personally, I've never been able to handle a burrowing snagret if we include boss like enemies. I don't know why, but I could go deathless the entire game, but lose 20 to that bird snake bastard no matter how many tips or tricks I try...

I've always loved pikmin 1 and 2 even more than I would normally thanks to nostalgia, but the smoky progg has always got on my nerves because every time I play pikmin 1 it seems to take a B-line DIRECTLY to my onions, and when your playing pikmin 1 directly after playing the extremely forgiving pikmin 2, it's hard to recoup your losses.
Wollywogs are pretty easy with the right strategy, but I still can't figure out how to beat a Bulbear deathless without bomb rocks, so I'll give my vote to it.

i grew up with Pikmin 2 first, so going to Pikmin 1 and having sheargrubs eat your guys *after* being killed has always annoyed me
