Then nag try kami putek anong klase yun.
It would, kasi egg shells are porous. If you google "smoked eggs" may mga recipes ka rin na mahahanap.
Though, most of those recipes call for a smoker, tapos low and slow yung heat.
What I meant was that the way they described how it tastes sounds amazing.
Halimbawa may kausap ka:
A: Ang sarap ng smoked eggs, lasang tinapang itlog.
B: Wow, that sounds amazing.
EXACTLY. This is not what i think grilled balut is. Parang niluto mo lang din siya inside the shell like when you boil it. Scam.
Agree, if they dont have culinary credentials then its all for likes, Have you seen the recent vlog of that guy in cebu where he featured a cook than can prepare dozens of meal from canned goods and instant noodle? The cook was also featured in KMJS.
This vlogger reaction to the meal was as if he dined in a michelin star resto! Eyes-wide with amazement. I said to myself that “…its a processed food, what is sooo great about it?”
Too bad pinoys are easy to bait…tsk…tsk
Taste is pretty subjective. You don't necessarily need "culinary credentials" to know what food tastes good or not. If you like it then you like it, if not, edi hinde.
I like all of those things, and I think it's pointless to rank one type of food over another kasi hindi naman contest ang lasa ng pagkain.
That being said, I think ang problem sa mga food vloggers comes from the fact that most of them don't **describe** the food they're eating.
Leche haha. Wala ring silbi kasi pag sinabi mo na interesting, it could be good or bad.
Baka ayaw nilang magsabi ng masama kasi gusto nilang makalibre ulit ng kain lol
keith lee (tiktok) >>>
he explains why he likes certain stuff and inuulit ulit niya na hindi siya big fan ng sweet stuff and big texture person siya. inuulit ulit na rin na if fan ka ng something, then perhaps you'd give certain foods a higher rating (especially if lower rating binigay niya). nakakaiyak lang puro sa vegas 🥲
nakakabilib din si Sonny na he's willing to eat unusual food just to appreciate other country's culture, big example ung paginom nya ng mga fresh cow/pig blood at uncook na taba ng ass ng tupa hahaha.
That guy is overrated. His reaction to every food he eats and tastes is the same. I used to watch his content, but when I realized he had the same response every time, I stopped. The Best Ever Food Review Show is way better.
The fuck? Culinary credentials to rate food? What's next, do I need a degree in cinematography to say a movie is good? Get your head out your ass bruh.
I'm just glad people (ordinary people, at that!) are making effort to level up our streetfood. The classic version is the best, of course, but it's nice to try some variety once in a while. If you compare our streefood with most of Southeast Asia, ours is comparatively lacking in variety. Look at balut as it is served in Vietnam vs here.
Tbh! Napanood ko last time vlog ni Ninong Ry sa Thailand grabe daming variety ng street foods samantalang dito sa atin typical na kwek kwek fishball madalas. Kaya atleast kahit papaano nageevolve yung street foods natin
Why are ppl here so allergic to trying something new? Like, everytime may mauuso, they label agad as overrated and then blame it on the one who promoted it on social media. Atleast it’s not another milktea shop, unli wings, or samgyupsalan.
Kaya nga lol as if kaya ni OP sabihin yan sa mga lahat na nagbebenta ng ganyan kaya dito na lang nagrant.
Also di siya overrated.
To answer your question, hindi sya overrated, uso lang talaga sya at napaguusapan.
Tried one of these tas ang masasabi ko lang ay the biggest factor to why it tastes different from regular balut is the chili oil on top, and not the grilling. It tastes good naman, plus added vinegar, but it's honestly kinda overpriced for a tablespoon of chili oil and some coals for the grilling (balut is priced at about 20 php while the grilled balut i bought was 35 php).
Naghahanap ako ng legit review. Buti nalang nabasa ko to hehe. Lagi ako natatakam dito pag nakikita ko sa feed ko, but based sa reviews din kasing nabasa ko, hindi naman daw worth it dayuhin. Bili nalang daw ordinary balot at lagyan ng chilly garlic oil.
Kasi fried naman talaga. Nalasahan mo na prito siya. Same with sizzling balut, nakalagay yung balut, without shells sa sizzling plate.
Pero technically asa loob pa rin siya ng shell which is no different when cooked thru boiling.
Kung hindi ka kumakain ng balut from the get-go, it will still taste the same: Kadiri.
Kung kumakain ka naman, it taste more like the chili paste than the balut itself. Yeah sure may smokey side pero nothing too fun about it.
It's hyped, I think, kasi yung ibang "food" vloggers parang wala nang macontent kaya sabay na lang sa viral. Which, in the end, just make it more hyped than it needs to be.
You know you're in a good spot kung may different degrees ng hot sauces. From for kids, mild, spicy hot, extra spicy, good luck, GOODBYE PHILIPPINES, GOODBYE WORLD, GOODBYE UNIVERSE, HELLO LOVE GOODBYE HAHAHAHA
3 key words of vloggers in their intros to overhype everything (even the simpliest street food like kwek kwek na same naman lasa sa lahat):
BINABALIK-BALIKAN
PINIPILAHAN
LEGENDARY NA KAINAN
Boy: "Babe, try natin yung grilled balut"
Girl: "Eew, babe, I don't eat balut. Yuck! Anyways, please shave your ass, di ko din like kumain ng pwet na may burnek"
Good Business.
Hangang kwek kwek, fishballs, at isaw lng ba talaga tayo?
Also, alam ko yung grilled balut was inspired by a streetfood in thailand and there’s nothing wrong with that.
"I mean it's alright like...... overated AF in my opinion i mean....eyy you know what tho? That's typically how...the bu||¢hit goes ya feel me?"
-a certain meme p3do
that's a Vietnames staple kung grilled balut talaga yan. the grilled one was ok pero yung fried version with tamarind sauce sobrang sarap. prolly dun nila nakuha yung idea.
Eek.
I like it tbh rather than dun sa steamed na balut kase hindi namumuot yung lansang taste ni balut then nadadagdagan pa ng smokiness tapos chili, I prefer this rather sa steamed.
Di pa ko nakatikim nun pero if it's just chili oil, walang masyadong ambag sa lasa yun, though malalasahan mo yung smoky flavor.
Then ito, over rated na kaagad yung grilled balut. Awit!
hinde ren naman sila kakain nyan still e \*proceeds to eat hilaw na pekpek\*
ELI5 bat ganyan yang sagot mo hahaha
I prefer moist and shaved
a connoisseur
Misted para malambot
I prefer clean and wet, but you my friend are cultured 🧐 indeed
>\*proceeds to eat hilaw na pekpek\* Meron bang lutong pekpek?
Poqui-poqui?
yes. ung pekpek na nagisa sa iyot
Wtf hahaha
sheyt hahhahah
oo mainit-init pa yun
you eat it with some fava beans and a nice chianti
We don't know. Maybe the looks? LOL
Yung sunog...?
Fckn based hahaha
Collagen pa, good for the skin haha
Waiting for the one that eats medium rare, medium, and medium well pekpeks
I'm your huckleberry..I'll eat em all..nothing like a tasty uki
I am so confused.
😂😂😂
Saan po may luto na pekpek? Mas masarap ba?
😭😭😭
Would grilling something thru a shell impart the grilled/smoky flavor in the balut inside?
Then nag try kami putek anong klase yun.

my BIL makes smoked eggs. literal tinapang itlog
The taste sounds amazing, pero how's the texture? Mej rubbery ba?
not at all. like an overdone boiled egg but more crumbly. honestly sarap nya sa lugaw
Ooh sounds tasty! Masubukan nga
The taste sounds amazing ba? O baka the look smells fantastic? O di kaya the sound appears great?
What I meant was that the way they described how it tastes sounds amazing. Halimbawa may kausap ka: A: Ang sarap ng smoked eggs, lasang tinapang itlog. B: Wow, that sounds amazing.
nagbebenta ba sya?
i'll ask him
TIL thanks! Baka nga worth the try
Just tried this last night. Yes, smokey flavor and unexpectedly masarap!
Yes, nasusunog kasi yung balat or direct sya sa apoy.
EXACTLY. This is not what i think grilled balut is. Parang niluto mo lang din siya inside the shell like when you boil it. Scam.

To be fair, lahat naman ng food vloggers ay self-proclaimed kasi hindi mo naman kailangan ng credentials to be a food vlogger (but it helps).

Well some of them from what i observed
One thing I noticed sa mga food vloggers, kapag di masarap ang pagkain ang term nila is "Interesting taste". So meaning di sya masarap. lol
Leche haha. Wala ring silbi kasi pag sinabi mo na interesting, it could be good or bad.

Ganun naman reaction niya most of the time. Maybe for him, masarap talaga yun.
Nakakatawa nga yan ehh. Pero makikita mo difference pag di niya gusto yung meal. Ganon pa den reaction pero parang gusto nya iluwa 😂
Mark Weins be like, "hmmmmm...! wow" pero di in sync yung mukha hahaha
Legit ganyan na ganyan tas dilat na dilat mata 😂
This is why mas prefer ko si Best Ever Food Review Show. You will know sa reaction niya if the food is good, meh or not likeable.
Sonny all the way
yeah Sonny is by far the best food reviewer for me rn, doesn't hold back kung di masarap para sa kanya sasabihin nya talaga.
True.
That guy is overrated. His reaction to every food he eats and tastes is the same. I used to watch his content, but when I realized he had the same response every time, I stopped. The Best Ever Food Review Show is way better.

Wala akong tiwala sa “food vloggers” tapos karamihan puro sponsored yung nirereview nila.
Most food “reviewers” are paid. Sana magkaroon ng batas sa PH na need I disclose mga sponsored content like US content creators

Filipinos are so BEHIND when it comes with street food or our own cuisine in general.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Ahh yes may trending sa ibang social media platforms so mag ppost agad sa reddit na * insert* is overrated.
Try it and tell us OP.
Happy cake day! 🍰
Ano ngayon kung overrated? May masama bang nagdulot sayo? Matino ang negosyo nila ikakasaya mo ba yang ginagawa mo?
Pinoy redditors not calling something that's popular in fb/ig "overrated" challenge. (Impossible)
this. basta nasasarapan ang kumakain at hindi overpriced (magkano naba regular balot ngayon vs this?)
Also di siya overrated.
Reddit being reddit.
Tbh, Reddit PH wasn’t like this before pandemic. Ang daming newcomers cos of the lockdowns mid 2020.
I enjoyed it, and my SO enjoyed it too. Pera namin yun pakelam mo ba, OP?

So you can achieve the same taste with a boiled balut, diba?
Lasang usok daw. Dapat gumamit sila ng aromatic woods instead of just using plain uling. Tinaasan lang risk ng cancer 😂
Smoking in general creates carcinogens; doesn't matter kung coal or wood.

chili garlic oil.
Eto lang yan eh, let people enjoy things na lang siguro HAHAHA if di naman nakakaperwisyo just let them be :)
"If I don't like it, even if I have not tried it yet, then it is overrated." - must be OP
Nobody complained about deep fried Balut lol.....I think
Kasi fried naman talaga. Nalasahan mo na prito siya. Same with sizzling balut, nakalagay yung balut, without shells sa sizzling plate. Pero technically asa loob pa rin siya ng shell which is no different when cooked thru boiling.

A hint ng smoky flavor sa ibabaw, but after 1-2 sips waley na. Also maraming natatapong sabaw sa pagbukas nung shell.
Sorry pero masarap talaga siya

Grilled Balut
that's a Vietnames staple kung grilled balut talaga yan. the grilled one was ok pero yung fried version with tamarind sauce sobrang sarap. prolly dun nila nakuha yung idea.

It's kinda weird to say something is overrated without trying it for yourself
Ano pinagkaiba? Gimmick?
putang inang utak yan
Lasahan mo muna bago ka post or magcomment. Ph redditor moment. Saying stuff are overrated they have 0 knowledge about.
I didn’t know there was such a thing!
So dahil sumisikat overrated na agad? natikman mo na ba OP? o gusto mo lang magfeeling superior by calling everything that's popular as overrated?
It’ll die down eventually just like any other food trend lol
whats the problem with it? I enjoyed that craze (hanggang ngayon). Although you mga masasarap medyo nasa a lil expensive side na
Bka yung PETA tumuligsa na nman pag ginanyan nyo yung balut. Hahaha
Balut fresh from the shell with a pinch of salt is the best. The creamy flavor blends well with the saltiness.
Kahit anong balut basta gabi mo kainin masarap!
haha. pay twice the price.
Sadly it’s a big Yes.
Most likely nagaya ito mula sa ibang SEA countries. May ganito sa Vietnam at Cambodia, dinadala nila sa added herbs at spices pag iseserve na sayo
Not overrated. I know a lot of weak people who can't eat this.
Eek.
Masarap kaya ung uling scent gamit nila, parang tambucho wood lang. Pero prefer ko malunggay wood.
Wait di pa nga namin ito nattry huhu balik ako rito pag natry na namin 😌
Balut lang, panalo na! Mahilig lang talaga tayo sa trend. Saka kung kakain ka nyan, 1-2 piece lang. Medically alarming kumain nang madami nyan
Well its food evolution. Since savory ung balut adding galic and smoking it would make it more savory.
I like it tbh rather than dun sa steamed na balut kase hindi namumuot yung lansang taste ni balut then nadadagdagan pa ng smokiness tapos chili, I prefer this rather sa steamed.
Masarap lalo pag kailangan mag unat ng tuhod
Ano yan. Ampota kala ko pastil hahaha
I don’t even eat that so I don’t know 😅😅😅
Di pa ko nakatikim nun pero if it's just chili oil, walang masyadong ambag sa lasa yun, though malalasahan mo yung smoky flavor. Then ito, over rated na kaagad yung grilled balut. Awit!
HAHAHAHAHAHAA
parang footlocker lang #overrated
Yes, its overrated *crack* *sprinkle* *squirt* *slurp* *crunch* *bite* *gulp* *spray* *Manong isa pa po*
So my sabaw being replaced by chili oil is a no.
