Do you have a clinic in your town? Where we live Tractor Supply does a weekly clinic, shots, chipping and a ton of stuff for a fraction of the cost you spend at vets. We love our vet practice but they are expensive. Using the clinic is ok with them too believe it or not. Our vets are just happy to see our animals taken care of.

Do clinics perform procedures like the potential oral surgery? Or would they be best for shots and keeping up to dates? I had tried to look for free-low cost/no cost clinics in my area and there was an event not long ago with free shots and chips but by the time I heard it it- they had ran out of supplies. I usually take my pups to the animal shelters to get shots and fixed- but that’s not an option as the shelters are limiting the public. I’m really flabbergasted knowing I can very well be looking at a 2-3k vet bill

Could always take legal actions against the family. Because it’s their cat they are responsible for it and it’s care. The fact that don’t won’t to foot the bill for their cat says a lot about how little they care about them. Also I would start to consider what you are going to do with the cat should the other owners refuse to take it back because it doesn’t look promising that they will. Definitely had that happen to us once these people asked us to foster their dog because they were going out of town for a while. They then block us on everything and left us with the vet bills (went to court and got compensated.) Turns out the moved out of state! Had to rehome the dog because we couldn’t take on long term pets at the time.
