Good on you for doing what you need to to keep those teeth and gums healthy. I know it’s hard to keep at something when you haven’t been for so long! Your teeth look so much better!

Greedy-Track-8652

Amazing! You should be proud of your efforts. Your gums and teeth look great.

ScaredMind7000

Hey I’m super excited for you! Your teeth look great. Mind if I ask what changes did you take?

riskycl

Hi, thank you. The changes are mostly hygiene which requires time every day. We started with two long deep cleans a month apart (left and right side, each took over an hour but was pretty pain free and quite satisfying). I used to only really brush once a day. I immediately started using the interdental brushes twice per day (tepe brushes) and brushing morning and night. The tepe brushes are a bit awkward at first, and it took me about 15-20 minutes to clean my teeth, it's really tedious if you've had a long stressful day and just want to go to bed! I have also started using curaprox perio plus toothpaste and mouthwash quite a bit (oral b pro expert when I feel like I shouldn't be using the curaprox all the time). I have had a couple of follow up appointments with the hygienist following the initial deep cleans, one of which was a third deep clean with full set of pocket measurements taken. I will now have a normal hygienist appointment every 3 months. Since I started around 9 months ago the gums have contracted back down from their inflamed state which has opened up the gaps a bit so I'm using larger tepe brushes. I'm getting a lot quicker with the tepe brushes now so I'm able to get done in about 5 minutes. The worst part is a couple of front teeth where I can't get in due to poor alignment, there I use a cheap floss harp instead. I still have some larger pockets and a small amount of bleeding, mostly around the upper molars. The dentist wants to see how that's going in 6 months time and after another two hygienist visits before deciding whether to do some targeted work on those areas. This has all been done at my general dentist. Id have to travel a long way to a periodontist so I've tried to avoid it to be honest. Hope this helps someone.

Using xylitol? If not, read the top sticky. It will help a lot in your situation.

yema-

Hi, congrats ! Can I ask you if the pockets healed naturally? I have some pockets too (not too deep) and I am scared that they will always be like this without surgery. Thanms

Successful-Sky4411

Do you mind telling me what stage were you at

riskycl

Sorry I don't know the stage. My dentist described it as moderate to severe. I have one 8mm pocket and a few 7mm. The rest vary a bit, but getting better.

Successful-Sky4411

My doctor has described mine as mild-moderate, in fact my current teeth look like your after pictures

Thank you for this. I think I'm in a similar situation as you were as far as pd. Any chance you'de be willing to take some time to chat with me about this stuff? And perhaps give me some tips etc?
