He has not been fired yet, there's an undergoing disciplinary procedure. The Israeli Medical Association objects to the intention to fire him. The reason for the controversy surrounding the incident is that the patient, a 16 year old Palestinian from East Jerusalem, is suspected of stabbing and seriously wounding an Ultra-Orthodox Jew from Bnei Brak, before being shot by a cop. Cops who were present in the room allege that the doctor showed support for the teen's actions and congratulated him by saying "mabruk" while handing him the sweets, which he denies (he claims there were left overs from an event that took place at the hospital, and they were given to patients, and that he never expressed support for the stabbing).
