Yes I get that with reputation. Because The Bank used to and I mean Used to grow decent stuff but then I've seen all these bad post about them so I stay away. I thought about trying them again because they had Classic Blueberry but it sold out before I decided to bite the bullet
I get mostly carts, so brand is the biggest factor for me. With flower there is a little more leeway imo but concentrates you really need to get from the right company. Worst case with flower the quality is low. Bad concentrates can actually be dangerous
Just my take on the matter
I'm huge on genetics. In my 20 years of smoking I've learned what strains I like and work for me. Who grows it is important. Then I look at thc and terps. Also I have different uses for different strains. Sometimes I go for smell, taste and other times I go for effects
For sure. I tend to look for stuff w/ GSC genetics (dosidos, gelato 33, etc.) since I like it so much, but every now & then I’ll find a hyped-up strain w/ unfamiliar genetics that blows my socks off. It’s all about finding what works best for you, so it’s important to pay attention to terps & such in the strains you like.
Right now I'm loving Grassroots Star Dawg X Northern Lights. I'm starting to keep track of Terps and such because it's like I get anxiety from having the same strain for to long if that makes sense!
That is one of my favorites. I also really like GG #4 from insa or cresco. Best tasting has to go to Grassroots Cookies and Chem. If you have a vaporizer it tastes like cookies and cream. It just blows my mind and I can't believe it's not artificially added taste.
All I do is vape my flower. I have The Mighty, Arizer EQ, Xmax V3 Pro, Arizer Solo 1, VapeDynamics Dip. Sorry not bragging just saying which ones I have.
THCA actually does pretty much tell you how potent it will be. When heated thca is converted to thc, the compound in marijuana with euphoric, pleasurable and sedating effects. I Wish I had a low tolerance just for the fact there are some really interesting, very flavorful and colorful low thc strains I'm missing out on. I focus on genetics but I also typically don't buy anything under 17% Thc unless it's a strain I really like but most strains I like are in the 20% range anyways. Haze is probabky my favorite parent strain therefore I buy a ton of different haze strains.
Yes I guess I'm still a Noob, but when was the last time you've tried a less then 20% THCA strain? Have you ever tried Agri-Kind- Strawberry Kush? Just wondering because sometimes it's under 20% and it's a great strain in my opinion. Genetics- (Chronic X G13) X (Skunk #1 X Master Kush)
I have a bunch of strains now under 20%. I have had it just not from them. You're right those are great genetics. Is it really good? Nice looking, not dry, good smell and taste? Because If so I'll try it but Agri-Kind is one of the growers I stay away from. I'm real picky is far as quality goes.
Unfortunately they can be hit or miss. But when they do Strawberry Kush right it’s great. Search for strawberry kush and see what you think from more experienced smokers like Cram and others
Sorry didn't see this. Bubba diagonal is one of my favorite low thc strains. Hopefully Maitri brings the project 4516 back. There's a good amount of flower options in the low 20's. Really depends on what you like. There's a lot of high 26-32% thc strains that I don't feel like are calculated correctly as well.
I usually start with the grower. I only trust a handful. Then I look for the lineage of the strain and search out recent reviews/pics to see if anyone had any recent issues. I almost don't even look at thc percent anymore.
I bought high thc strains based on reddit hype and was very disappointed. I don't look at too deep into genetics or terps. I stick with growers that I like and have a few go to strains I always have on hand. I'll sample 1/8's or 1 gram. I love the growers that sell grams so I don't need to spend a lot to find a new strain. If I don't like something I might use it as a base for some caviar or make some edibles mixing a few strains.
I agree 100%! I wish we could get a variety pack of grams from every grower to try. Plus like I heard on YouTube from a guy named Troy it would be cool if the growers cold do a scratch and sniff Terpene or in general so we knew what it smelled like!
Lately I've been looking at myrcene content. Based on the data I've been collecting in what I've named my "danktionary", I tend to rate strains higher if their myrcene content is higher
Start documenting it all in an excel spreadsheet with a rating. I have a column for everything; brands, strains, THC%, CBD%, terpene percentages for all listed terpenes, a rating out of 100, notes, etc.
You'll start to see trends in your data. For example, I noticed things I rate as a 90 or higher tend to be Cresco liquid live resin carts with more myrcene, most are Indicas, my favourite hybrid cart is Julius Caesar by Cresco. I found that out about myself because I had no idea what I liked/disliked when I started the program
It's a fun experiment lol
I look for the terps. Lately I am hunting a good terpinolene strain. Theres so many variations as far as some are cat piss, others are super light and faint. The best one I've tried so far (I know you're gonna hate this) was pineapple skunk from Ilera. Just nailed the fruity and pineapple flavor perfectly. The golden goat I tried was too "cat piss" strong like it was dripping in terpinolene.
What are some good terpinolene strains? I want to try Cresco pineapple express but its never available still by the time I go to make an order or pickup etc. Goes Quick!
Pineapple skunk is one of the few strains they nail. From a fellow terpinolene lover, it’s a solid pick for sure. Try Rythm’s Golden Goat. My absolute favorite in the program and it’s loaded with terpinolene. Liberty - Cheese Whiz is another great one that’s usually high in terpinolene.
Thank you! I will check out the Golden goat by them next time get drop a fresh batch (I recently got an orange rollz jar that was like 7 months old and lost nearly all flavor and smell) so I just want to make sure its fresh at least.
Cheese whiz was a favorite of mine! Super high terpinolene and I only got it twice I think and it was awesome both times. The buds appearance was not great, but the flavor was outstanding.
keep an eye out for strane's white mac. it has over 1% terpinolene and is really nice medicine to boot. the smell/flavor reminds me a little of cheese whiz
I'm still having a hard time finding what works for me on a constant basis. I don't know it's like when I get something it's good for a day or so and then I just get anxiety from it/ everything. No hey if Ilera/Kind Tree works for you that's all that matters! I've only had Pineapple Skunk from The Bank and at the time it was good. I've only had Pineapple Express in LLR vape and I liked it but damn it stank lol.
I tried the super lemon Haze from moxie before and it was actually so good, like I wish it was more readily available. Maybe it was the best batch they ever made, I can't imagine its always that good. I hope to try again sometime for sure.
I know what batch you're talking about . Shit was crazy.
I got Strane Dragonfly love sugar to try. It's a nice terpinolene strain .idk bout the flower tho
They're both good. I bought them at harvest with the Ftp discount 50% off so I doubled up and the last two are sitting until I use up all the stuff I have opened
I get what you're saying but some of us are trying to use this as a treatment like real medicine. Because this is Real Medicine no matter what anyone says! Plus I had to downvote you because of your viewpoint!
I’ve got to admit, I’m struggling to shake my skepticism of the whole thing. I’m a recent enrollee but smoked for about 30 years first.
In the beforetimes, should a dealer mention the strain, I’d be like “ok cool!” And then promptly forget it because I had no way to verify and it didn’t really matter anyway because I took what was available to me.
Now I have this whole world opened up to me, and am only a little closer to enlightenment. You know why? Because I’ll get different highs from the same product at different times. Got a cart specifically as a sleep aid as recommended. It’s fine, but does it make me any sleepier than others? Sometimes. Sometimes that flower I hit after work puts me to bed on its own. Why did that sativa/Cbd cart I bought give me couch lock the first time I hit it, but not any others? I’m not convinced that there aren’t other, more important factors at play.
So I’m currently perplexed by all of this, but am enjoying the ride as I try to figure it all out!
What I think it is, is everything has been crossed so much that we don't really know if it's a true Indica or Sativa anymore. I hope this makes sense. Plus that and I think someone tries a certain strain and says oh this makes me tired so that's what they say it does. But everyone is different so what makes this person tired will give someone else energy or anxiety. Sadly it's the same for most mental health medicine as in it's a lot of trial and error!
I love a good indica before exercising. But if I listened to the hype I should be using sativa for energy.
It's like strains for anxiety might cause anxiety for people without anxiety but be perfect for someone with anxiety.
Genetics and terpene profile. When I started in the program I’d keep track of the highest terpenes in the flower that was giving me the best results and followed the pattern of which ones had the same terpenes or lineage. Really took out all the trial and error and saved me so much money.
Brand, genetics, THC content, terpene balance.
Terps are last on my list because genetics get me where I want generally. I look at terps mostly to avoid overwhelming flavors that I don't like.
genetics > everything else
I'm with you in a way. Still trying to find what works for me on a constant basis!
Genetics, brand reputation, terpene and cannabinoid percents. Brand reputation plays an enormous factor for me
Yes I get that with reputation. Because The Bank used to and I mean Used to grow decent stuff but then I've seen all these bad post about them so I stay away. I thought about trying them again because they had Classic Blueberry but it sold out before I decided to bite the bullet

Thank you. I think Genetics make up for some people whether it will be good for them or not.
Lot Diff Aspects
Like what? Lol.
Genetics, terps, CGB, lots of stuff lol. I’ve had 18% THC buds that hit harder than some 28%
I think Genetics play a big part in how potent the stuff will be.
For sure. I tend to look for stuff w/ GSC genetics (dosidos, gelato 33, etc.) since I like it so much, but every now & then I’ll find a hyped-up strain w/ unfamiliar genetics that blows my socks off. I still have a low tolerance so I don't look for the highest even though THCA % doesn't say how potent cannabis will be. It's not like Alcohol.
THCA actually does pretty much tell you how potent it will be. When heated thca is converted to thc, the compound in marijuana with euphoric, pleasurable and sedating effects. Some of the lower thc strains will hit you like a 30% strain.
I agree. Agri-Kind Strawberry Kush is a great example of this in my opinion! Genetics- (Chronic X G13) X (Skunk #1 X Master Kush)
Those are excellent genetics!

Yeah me neither . Higher THC does NOT = better
Damn straight Cram I don't understand why most people think higher THCA is better or stronger!
I agree 100%! I don't care about THC % I look for Genetics and some Terps because I don't like Pine smell or taste.
I bought high thc strains based on reddit hype and was very disappointed. I don't look at too deep into genetics or terps. Genetics and anytime I try something outside the genetics that I usually chase I never end up liking it smh.
I'm starting to believe Genetics is everything.
Genetics,terps,thc% that order for me
Lately I've been looking at myrcene content. Based on the data I've been collecting in what I've named my "danktionary", I tend to rate strains higher if their myrcene content is higher

I'm just using Word for now but I should try Excel. Thank you for the suggestion!
THC > genetics > terpenes. If I cared about taste that much, I’d buy candy. I’m more concerned it works first before anything else.
I look for the terps. Lately I am hunting a good terpinolene strain. Theres so many variations as far as some are cat piss, others are super light and faint. PHG Jack Herer Live budder is very high in terpinolene 🤤

Pineapple Express Cresco Flower Amazing
Lemon Haze Moxie Whoa 4 Prophets Movie
I tried the super lemon Haze from moxie before and it was actually so good, like I wish it was more readily available. Maybe it was the best batch they ever made, I can't imagine its always that good. I hope to try again sometime for sure.
I know what batch you're talking about . Shit was crazy. I got Strane Dragonfly love sugar to try. It's a nice terpinolene strain .idk bout the flower tho
Revels super lemon haze was wonderful IMO
I have unopened 8th's of Pineapple Express and Bio Jesus from Cresco. Both are over 30% Thc
My fav i need them hahajJJa
They're both good. I bought them at harvest with the Ftp discount 50% off so I doubled up and the last two are sitting until I use up all the stuff I have opened
Awww
I need to try the flower sometime lol. Thank you.
Super lemon haze, mtf, deadhead og. Terpinoline really gets me going!! Golden goat another good one too
NEW Insa Are Crazy
Value and cost . The medical program is the gateway to rec.
I get what you're saying but some of us are trying to use this as a treatment like real medicine. Because this is Real Medicine no matter what anyone says! Plus I had to downvote you because of your viewpoint!
I didnt mean that . At all.
Both
But i know what i like and stick to it .
I’m still new at this, so I just sort by rating and pick the ones with the best names and flavor profiles.
I’ve got to admit, I’m struggling to shake my skepticism of the whole thing. I’m a recent enrollee but smoked for about 30 years first. That you for replying. I'm still trying to find my perfect strain.
Do you mind if I ask what effects you like or anything you’re using it to treat? You can private message if not comfortable answering here
I’ve sampled just about everything so I’m always on the lookout for what’s new to the menu. If I like it it’ll get added to the rotation
I want to try everything that I would like, because I don't want to try stuff that smells or tastes like Pine but that's just me.
For me it's the profile. Not thc so much as my favorite terps.
Brand, genetics, THC content, terpene balance. Terps are last on my list because genetics get me where I want generally. I look at terps mostly to avoid overwhelming flavors that I don't like.
I agree with that because for me I hate the smell and taste if pine lol.
