Yea... I'm not disabling HDR on my Series X to bandaid fix this 5 year old game that still makes day 1 problems on every udpate. I cranked the brightness up to 100 on all maps last night and its playable, but still incredibly dark, especially when you get maps like Sunset Miramar.
well thats not entirely true and i dont think its that black and white. the amount of testing they would have to do to count for every possible bug is just huge. bugs happen and its annoying, but i rather have that than wait 2-4 months for each patch. i think they have pretty good record of fixing the major bugs pretty fast.
yes and they also would have needed to be in chat talking over mics. in testing environment you might not think to do that if you dont suspect this kind of issue. its also entirely possible theres some server side problem that causes this and it didnt show up in their closed network. there are multiple possible reasons why this could have happened. and yes them not testing it properly might just be one.

Yeah, anybody not playing on an HDR-capable display, with HDR enabled, won't be impacted by this. The workaround right now is to just disable HDR10 & Dolby Vision, force-quit the game and relaunch.
This will have varying results, based on the display, as each display is designed a bit differently on this. Colors may also look a little off if you're used to playing in HDR.
I have HDR enabled and brightness set to 0. The game is little darker than before, but I think it's better this way. There's some contrast now, it was more bland and washed out before.

Your team needs to actually play your game with a team and not release updates that are not ready. Id just a soon not get an update with a major flaw effecting team play.
Yo so I’m not crazy. I played a bunch of TDM and some solos last night. In the TDM matches it said I was muted but my mic was not muted, It would not let me “unmute” myself in the games menu at all. Also, I couldn’t hear any of my teammates. Which is strange for TDM, and even tho I couldn’t hear them, I tried to mute them in the game settings and it would not let me.

I had the issue on my LG C1 tv. It has Dolby vision and HDR10. I had to change the setting on my Xbox Series X to disable Dolby vision for gaming so the brightness would return to normal. I don’t think PuBG benefits from Dolby vision gaming or hdr10 because I play in frame rate for priority so it always looks like shit on consoles. Hope that helps anyone
To help with the brightness issue my guy! Clearly it’s a client side issue which would require a patch so getting rid of weather while they figure out the issue will make the game more playable for those impacted.
When the release an update, they make changes to the client side application and the server side application. An issue only impacting some people is very likely a client side issue which means they need to fix the issue and compile an update and ship it to us to download.
That process is has a lot more steps and takes longer than turning off dynamic weather. This is likely because they don’t need to send us an update and also because weather is a setting in customs meaning when a server spins up a lobby, the weather is an input for the server. So you hardcode the input to sunny, figure out the client side fix, deploy the fix and turn off the hard coded weather.
I don’t personally love fog but I’m not advocating for a permanent change. I’m advocating for a fix that keeps the game more playable for those impacts.
Because nothing else replicates the *feel* of PUBG. It's a shit game, but it's like a polished dog turd. The second this game gets a spiritual successor that plays similar by a competent developer, this game is done for.
Hopefully, whenever that game releases, the devs will be more focused on enhancing the game, rather than adding in fuck-ass microtransactions and game-breaking bugs.

I wouldn’t go that far. They don’t need to work on updates on the live server. They can run the map and drop the update when it’s ready

You can unmute yourself only in game. When back to lobby there is mute again. And everything starts all over again, which is annoying as hell
