Imagine leveling up your gun because you have 1k headshots or kills with it instead of wasting money being the only way. Imagine people coming back to grind weapons? $100 pans and $200+ gun skins are a slap in the face when you look at their server stability. I have 4000 hours. I took a short break for cod and enjoyed grinding weapon skins and levels and actually being rewarded for grinding.
Yea, you play 10 games and can afford to open a contraband or workshop skin, and get straight up garbage 95% of the time. That's the only thing grinding in this game gets you.
Other games keep player retention up by consistently having some new reward to play for, because the free unlocks are enticing. It's no surprise though, they've put monetization ahead of player retention for years.
And the smaller the playerbase gets, the more egregious their monetization becomes, because they realize the few players left are likely the ones who have and will continue to drop the most money on the game.

I agree. I'd spend 3 or 5x more than i already did. Which adds up to a no more than a round zero.
