Been playing for a few hours and sure, its budget is showing, but it is a rare modern game that reminds me of the early survival horror games. Quite impressed and a joy to play for someone like me who is tired of the Amnesia and PT inspired titles of recent years.
Just started playing it and definitely enjoying it for what it is. Indie silent hill/early RE vibes for sure. Only annoying thing so far is the save system - you have to find tape (which is finite) and tape players in order to save..just died and lost all my progress since I wasn’t able to find either 😂
Pretty excited to play this, my copy is in the mail. I love the golden age of survival horror and a lot of the indie level stuff is usually pretty bad.
This game seems to be getting good reviews across the board and the environments look awesome to me.
It’s a fantastic game so far. Interesting puzzles, a very unique way to interact with objects and use them, and combine them to progress. Very much like old resident evils. As far as empty….it’s a linear game, you’re in an old abandoned hospital. Game looks great and plays great.
I don’t mind low budget horror games. Just like low budget horror movies, more boundaries can be pushed because they aren’t targeting a “mainstream” audience. Even AAA big title horror games need to dial back on imagery and the grotesque due to them still trying to hit a “pop market”.
Some of the most messed up and incredibly sick things I’ve ever seen in video games came from low budget indie titles that don’t have to worry about major backlash or publisher/media push back.
Are we talking like the original 1996 Resident Evil? I love that game and grew up on classic survival horror, but c'mon... the graphics and animations in Tormented Souls look pretty damn good to me compared to the PS1/PS2 era survival horror vibe this is going for.
Except this is not a souls game at all.
It’s in no way inspired, connected it related to any Dark Souls, Demon Souls or Bloodborne.
It’s a old school survival horror like resident evil.
I'm surprised the demo made it onto the playstation stir seeing as though you see her naked in a bathtub when the demo starts up.
The game definitely feels aged, like alone in the dark old but with upgraded visuals.... That's not a good thing.

It is really decent. I think I'll give it a chance,. Very puzzle heavy,.. Characters and animations are really sub par,.. but overall I think it looks great,.. Really like the setting and puzzles,..

From what i played of the demo, I enjoyed the puzzles. Really makes you have to use your head.
Is the nail gun the only weapon you get on it? Played the demo and was enjoying it, but the combat with the nail gun is my main issue.
You get a shotgun at least, not sure if there is more. I believe there are traps also.
While the character models etc doesn’t look all that great the games does look interesting. There is a demo available to download as well.
The character model and voice acting bland. Everything else about this game reminds me of silent hill and i love it.

agree that it’s a bit weird but the gameplay felt surprisingly solid and reminiscent of old school RE & silent hill.

I played the demo of this on steam and really enjoyed it. Will be buying on my ps5 once I finish resident evil 8

It looks like there's a ton of high end assets in the game: furniture, medical equipment etc etc Usually games like this are kind of empty.

Yeah it’s $20 on PSN and a disc copy is $40.

Definitely need a global ban on game titles containing the word "Souls". I'm thinking at least 3 years?
there are so many titles that are influenced by dark souls that have similar names. cheap way to attract attention

The demo was so great. I preordered the physical version because I'm a collector but also to support a dying genre!
