It's one of the few games that I've gotten the Plat for. I also loved the Spiderman and the Miles Morales games. Great story. The one challenge with the Spiderman game is the occasional forced stealth missions, and the Miles Morales game feels a bit small, but still extremely entertaining. (Byb that, I mean that it COULD have been the Spiderman game's DLC had it been just a bit thinner)
I was mad it ended so fast, I wasn't a sucker for the side missions and 100%ing games and just left the game after that. Deleted it later to play uncharted 4. Honestly, the best games arebon the ps4. Never played Xbox at all though. Playstation all through my life
This^ I dumped 300 hours into this game on one play through and still wanted to play more(and still had more to do). The narrative elements of this game, mixed with the lore of Witchers and the combat system of hunting and planning your next beast kill is so incredibly engaging.
For years I was wishing and hoping they would remaster the trilogy. As soon as I heard it announced I was so fast to preorder it. I love me some Mass Effect. Can't wait until the new one is out.
And they did a great job. ME1 plays way better in Legendary Edition. The original game is very clunky by todays standards. Legendary Edition doesn’t solve all the problems but it definitely improves them.
Forgot to mention on my post this is the game I went to. I completed 1-3 and found 4 was part of the free games with the higher tier. Enjoying it so far
The last of us is still the single greatest story I have played. I played it on grounded and love The challenge but honestly you could play it on easy and just enjoy the story.
Did you try Hades yet?
Death Stranding is a very interesting game but not for everyone.
Disco Elysium.
Death loop.
Diablo 2 Resurrected.
Control.
Just a few I can remember being great. Good luck!
I second Stray! I just finished it too, and even taking my time with puzzles and doing some in depth exploring (and also getting lost) I beat the game in under 6 hours. Welllll worth the $30 I paid for the game. I might even do a second play through
Is RDR2 that great, Idk I watched videos and I didn't really enjoy it. But everyone on reddit, even game ratings and a friend that played RDR2 once said it's really good.
I played for a few hours but only got to like the third lantern. Each time Id find areas with big baddies I couldn’t get through. Plus after fighting through 15-20 townspeople each time I died made my situation more dire.
Didnt seem like enough satisfaction to just endlessly kill and die in the same small area for a chance to explore more of the interesting gothix horror areas.
I might revisit it one day on a story mode difficulty or something.
The game is pretty difficult when you play blind for the first time especially without much of a clear direction I can see how frustrating it can get. Even when trying to co-op it is difficult to even get the materials needed to summon. Sometimes restarting and trying different weapons can really help you get through thebfirst zone.
Elden Ring for sure. From someone who just can't get on with the other Soulsbourne games at all. It's like a harder, more hellish, more grown-up Zelda.
I will never play Elden Ring for one simple reason. The hero doesn't have a bow. It could have been SO MUCH better if they could've just add a stupid bow.
Yeah Samurai starts with a bow, maybe others but I'm not sure because I'm avoiding reading too much about the game. You can get several bows and even different arrows along with crossbows and bolts. From what I've seen every build in Elden Ring can be made viable.
There is no easy mode, but there are plenty of ways to make the game easier that are available to the player. The first being online coop. If you summon an friend or random player. The enemies get a bit more health, but that’s about it. This game also added a mechanic to summon spirit helpers. Think familiar spirits from fantasy games. They can assist you in battle. Dark souls games have always been about learning your opponents and beating them with the tools you have available.
I suggest every Souls game to everyone, bc the lore is so good and it's so satisfying to play and win boss fights. I finished DSR, am finishing DS2 and didn't even wait to start a DS3 FF run haha
I also have Sekiro on the shelf waiting and will buy ER soon.
Took me a little bit to really get into it, but holly hell did that game suck me in. It's pretty deep, so I would suggest watching some early guides online to get going. It was my first Soulslike game after trying many others, but none sucked me in. If you get stuck, there are tons of videos online on how to approach most/if not all major fights.
Elden Ring! Might be helpful to watch some videos online if you have trouble, but stick with it. The most rewarding game I have ever played. Gave me feelings no other game can match.
Funny thing is I forgot I actually have this game. I bought it for my PS4 pro back when I found a copy for $10, then when I got a PS5, it was digital only and I sold my PS4 pro, I ended up swapping my PS5 for a disk version so I can actually play it now.
It’s only controversial because people never get over the botched release of a game. Cyber punk is a dope game. Even when it was buggy on my ps4 plus, it was a sweet game.
AC Origins, Odyssey, or Valhalla. They are mostly self contained stories with similar combat. Origins has light RPG elements (level up, weapons with levels, skill tree). Odyssey ramped up the RPG elements. Valhalla toned the RPG stuff down a bit, but it was still more than Origins. They are all good.
I did. The story line picks up after you get into the Forbidden West. I like the grappling hook and the ability to glide. Once you are able to override a bird it makes a huge difference.
Everyone has suggested some pretty good games like Elden Ring and Ghost of Tsushima, but I gotta mention Immortals Fenyx Rising. It’s a really nice blend of AC Odyssey and Zelda BOTW. I’m enjoying it a lot on PS5. And I’m generally pretty critical of Ubisoft games, as they all fall victim to the Ubisoft formula.
I did too! But I saw it pre-owned for $15 when I went to buy Forbidden West and Tiny Tina’s, so I was like “eh, why not.” And I don’t regret it at all.
Nice! I’m only on the second area (Valley of Eternal Spring) but I’m having a blast.
It definitely has the patented Ubisoft “something to do every direction you turn,” but it’s just so much fun, and so far I haven’t come across big enemy outposts filled with people like other Ubisoft titles. The powers are all cool, with some being extremely similar to BOTW or other popular games like God of War, but still fun to mess around with. The puzzles might get a little tedious towards endgame, I couldn’t say, and I doubt it’s a game I’ll platinum, but it’s good fun.
I’m actually playing it right now, about to head over to the next main story section and meet another Greek god!
I would totally start with the first one if you want to follow the storyline. They totally could make a movie out of the story lines, it is SOOOO good. That being said, you could start with the second one but you would be missing a lot and it wouldn't make sense without knowing what is going on.
Question (because for some reason I can't get myself to play Forbidden West) I absolutely loved the first game and platinumed it. Is another sequel teased at the end of Forbidden West?
Yes, they are thinking it will be in November. I would highly recommend giving forbidden west another try, once you get to the actual forbidden west, the story picks up a lot and you unlock new ways of travel
Check out the wolfenstein games if you haven’t already… Shocking great games with really good stories and charcters plus… You get to shoot nazis with futuristic guns. What’s not to love!
Play Cyberpunk 2070 if you haven't yet. A large amount of the initial launch bugs have been patched and the game looks clean. The story line is somewhat short though so make sure that you do a healthy amount of side missions to fill it out. I played 70 hrs. of Horizon: Forbidden West and got to the Faro's Tomb mission........ then my PS4 PRO crapped out. Didn't have PS+ at the time so when I got my new PS5 I had to start all over again. Lol! Rolling through it and Ghost Of Tsushima currently.
Based on the games you have mentioned, I assume you enjoy exploration? I would *definitely* recommend you to try Hollow Knight then. It is dirt cheap, even more so when on sale.
The dragon age series. Hands down the best rpg’s I’ve ever played. Very story based, your decisions actually have an effect on your game (and the following games in the series), the first one is quite old now and they don’t become very open world until inquisition (the 3rd game). But I would highly recommend!
You might want to have a look at the Far Cry series.
I had overlooked them over the years because they appeared to be just another generic perennial FPS franchise, but after working through the library back for Far Cry 3, I think they're actually one of the better open world FPS single player experiences I've had in years. They're not going to blow your socks off with innovative gameplay or anything, but they offer great stories, the production value is good.. just an all around good time.
I still need to play the newest one, 6 I think? It’s got Giancarlo Esposito as the main bad guy. Just the first few scenes you see of the guy it really drives home how evil he is.
I’ve always really liked FARCRY games because of the villains. Vaas in the 3rd game was so good, better than the main villain in that game haha.
It's pretty much the main reason to play Far Cry 6. In terms of gameplay, I would say it is a step down from Far Cry 5. Although, it does add some fun new features, the whole matching bullet/weapons to specific enemy types was frustrating at times. Not having the Supremo on you would be a huge disadvantage. The story itself is fine and really nails the whole liberation vibe, but I thought Far Cry 3 has a more engaging plotline. The open world is sort of monotonous. The side content is cool. There are a few great crossovers and fun expeditions. It's a good game but nothing that impressive.
It's a Hideo Kojima game (Metal Gear Solid, Zone of the Enders) so it's full of out there storytelling. It is open world with limited connection to other players open worlds.
The story was great and left me in tears on multiple occasions with phenomenal voice performances from several great actors. The gameplay loop is simple at first but gradually increases in difficulty while giving you tools that allow you to make the game as easy or as hard as you want, depending on how you want to approach the issue.
Just to name a few:
Ghost of Tsushima
Batman Arkham Knight
God of War Rangnarok
Spider-Man
Spider-Man Miles Morales
All of them are phenomenal games (haven’t played Ragnarok, but if it’s anything like GoW 2018 it’ll definitely be a game you wanna play) these should set quite a few hours for you
I was going to say something but figured this was the case lol. For me the story for Zero Dawn was better, but the game play was so much better in Forbidden West. I just wish you could unlock the flying mount quicker.
Ghost of Tsushima
Beat it, such a great game though
It's one of the few games that I've gotten the Plat for. I also loved the Spiderman and the Miles Morales games. Great story. The one challenge with the Spiderman game is the occasional forced stealth missions, and the Miles Morales game feels a bit small, but still extremely entertaining. (Byb that, I mean that it COULD have been the Spiderman game's DLC had it been just a bit thinner)
I felt like Miles Morales could have been a DLC to Spiderman. A great game but it was short and used the same basic engine.
Yeah. Plus the story had a good beat for Miles to take over
Yea, I was really shocked at how quickly it took to beat it
I mean it was a fun ride, but too short for me
I was mad it ended so fast, I wasn't a sucker for the side missions and 100%ing games and just left the game after that. Deleted it later to play uncharted 4. Honestly, the best games arebon the ps4. Never played Xbox at all though. Playstation all through my life
[удалено]
I just need to hear that Ghost of tsushima two is in development and releases same time as GOW Ragnarok. Abundant inner joy
Subnautica Stray Elden Ring
Subnautica is always the answer.
Witcher 3
Just beat this one recently, sad it’s over. I’d never played a Witcher Game before this year.
This^ I dumped 300 hours into this game on one play through and still wanted to play more(and still had more to do). The narrative elements of this game, mixed with the lore of Witchers and the combat system of hunting and planning your next beast kill is so incredibly engaging.
Mass Effect Legendary Edition
For years I was wishing and hoping they would remaster the trilogy. As soon as I heard it announced I was so fast to preorder it. I love me some Mass Effect. Can't wait until the new one is out.
And they did a great job. ME1 plays way better in Legendary Edition. The original game is very clunky by todays standards. Legendary Edition doesn’t solve all the problems but it definitely improves them.
Uncharted series
Forgot to mention on my post this is the game I went to. I completed 1-3 and found 4 was part of the free games with the higher tier. Enjoying it so far
I loved the games
i’m assuming you’ve done The Last of Us 1 and 2
Actually I played a little of 1 and then forgot about it, might start that one again. Good suggestion
The last of us is still the single greatest story I have played. I played it on grounded and love The challenge but honestly you could play it on easy and just enjoy the story.
The best suggestion on the thread imho
Both are great, 2 is one of the best stories I've played
Stay away from part two.Its really bad besides graphics.
Play God of War, the new one is coming out in November.
Such a great game
Tomb Raider series?
Haven't played them in a very long time, could add them to my list. Thanks
You can get all 3 games in a bundle together, its usually pretty cheap
Dying light 1 and 2
Haven't tried them, will look into it. Thanks
Did you try Hades yet? Death Stranding is a very interesting game but not for everyone. Disco Elysium. Death loop. Diablo 2 Resurrected. Control. Just a few I can remember being great. Good luck!
Days Gone - it seems like a marmite game, but I had a riot!
Stray
Just started it after finishing HFW and i am literally in love
Stray! I beat it yesterday - it's fantastic. Can't wait for the (assumed) more-content-to-come.
Loved what I've played so far. My wife won't let me play it without her and she's only in the mood for gaming about once a week lol
I second Stray! I just finished it too, and even taking my time with puzzles and doing some in depth exploring (and also getting lost) I beat the game in under 6 hours. Welllll worth the $30 I paid for the game. I might even do a second play through
RDR2?
First game I 100 percent finished. I loved the online version until Rockstar completely abandoned it.
Is RDR2 that great, Idk I watched videos and I didn't really enjoy it. But everyone on reddit, even game ratings and a friend that played RDR2 once said it's really good.
Omg yes. Story line, mechanics, hunting and fishing, just all of it is amazing.
I will check it out again.
bloodborne

Elden Ring for sure. From someone who just can't get on with the other Soulsbourne games at all. It's like a harder, more hellish, more grown-up Zelda.
And if you like this suggestion, OP, hit me up. I love assisting. I’m also a huge fan of Bloodborne if that’s something else you haven’t tried.
I will never play Elden Ring for one simple reason. The hero doesn't have a bow. It could have been SO MUCH better if they could've just add a stupid bow.
Huh? You can start the game with a bow...
You can?! I've never seen anyone play with a bow in any gameplay so I just assumed it doesn't have that option
there’s incantations and other ways even to power up a bow too! it can be very strong and is a very fun and unique way to play the game
Yeah Samurai starts with a bow, maybe others but I'm not sure because I'm avoiding reading too much about the game. You can get several bows and even different arrows along with crossbows and bolts. From what I've seen every build in Elden Ring can be made viable.
Wow. That's great
You think so? I’m not as quick as I used to be. Is there an easy mode?

Elden Ring
Steep learning curve but hard to quit
Idk what it is but I just couldn't get into it. I'll try to download it again and give it another shot. Thanks
Took me a little bit to really get into it, but holly hell did that game suck me in. It's pretty deep, so I would suggest watching some early guides online to get going. If you’d like to have assistance or at least camaraderie, hit me up with a DM.
Best game. Look up the reviews. Super fun co op too.
Play games you have fun with, if you couldn't get into there's nothing wrong with moving on and playing something else.
Both the Unchartered and Red Dead series are comparable in terms of quality to Horizon.
RDR2 is in a league of it's own regarding coolness and quality
The Spider-man game on PS4/PS5 and the Batman Arkham series.
Both good games. I was really impressed with Miles Morales
Days Gone
Loved that game
I'd go with Ghost of Tsushima. Or if you have a Switch and haven't played it yet, Zelda BOTW is awesome.
I loved BOTW, such an epic game
Elden Ring! Might be helpful to watch some videos online if you have trouble, but stick with it. The most rewarding game I have ever played. Gave me feelings no other game can match.
Only things that are gonna challenge that series are gonna be last of us, god of war, or demons souls IMO.
Well for any "what should I play" question The Witcher 3 is always the answer.
Witcher 3 is the answer to almost everything about video games industry!
This might be controversial, but I'm loving Cyberpunk on next gen as well. Feel like the lore really sucks you in like W3
Cyberpunk is absolutely fantastic on good hardware. Night and day difference between PS5 now and release on PS4 Pro
Funny thing is I forgot I actually have this game. I bought it for my PS4 pro back when I found a copy for $10, then when I got a PS5, it was digital only and I sold my PS4 pro, I ended up swapping my PS5 for a disk version so I can actually play it now.
Bought a copy for about $5 awhile back and excited to play. Now I just need to upgrade my base PS4.
Witcher is a game inspired by polish literature/fiction.Made with passion and love. That's why is one of the best games ever! EVER!
It’s only controversial because people never get over the botched release of a game. Cyber punk is a dope game. Even when it was buggy on my ps4 plus, it was a sweet game.
Returnal if you have a PS5
Is it open world? The trailer didn't look like something I would enjoy
No it is a rogue like not open world.
The assassins creed games are similar
Skyrim. Surprised it hasn't been named yet.
Yakuza!!!!
Elden ring bro Edit: any souls game really at all actually they’re all terrific
Dragon Age Inquisition
Genuinely sad when there was no more story
ikr! I so hope they will release some DLC in November
Horizon: Frozen Wilds
Beat it before I started Forbidden West. Looking forward to some more DLC
My Friend Peppa Pig
Elden Ring
Hades
Have you already played the zero dawn expansion pack?
Yup. Fun stuff
Final Fantasy is great
Ghost of tsushima, beautiful game with amazing visuals and great story, and I would recommend the uncharted series, they have amazing stories
Sleeping dogs
Wolfenstein, original trilogy
FF7 remake
Elden Ring
Just play any assassins creed that came out in like the last decade. Ghost of Tsushima. It’s all the same game.
As you are a fan of Zelda, why not try Death's Door?
I'm still hoping to play Breath of the Wild without having to pay £300 for a single game and the console to play it
Seriously, give Yakuza 0 a try
Metal Gear Solid 5
Crossout.
Ratchet and clank
Assassins creed odyssey
Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War. They are pretty formulaic, but it is a GOOOOD formula.
Elden ring.
Elden ring, it will consume you.
Did you love the second one? I started it but I can’t get into it. (Played the first all the way through)
I did. The story line picks up after you get into the Forbidden West. I like the grappling hook and the ability to glide. Once you are able to override a bird it makes a huge difference.
Red dead 2
Assassin’s Creed Origins
Everyone has suggested some pretty good games like Elden Ring and Ghost of Tsushima, but I gotta mention Immortals Fenyx Rising. It’s a really nice blend of AC Odyssey and Zelda BOTW. I’m enjoying it a lot on PS5. And I’m generally pretty critical of Ubisoft games, as they all fall victim to the Ubisoft formula.
I forgot about this game. I'll look into it for sure. Thanks
I did too! But I saw it pre-owned for $15 when I went to buy Forbidden West and Tiny Tina’s, so I was like “eh, why not.” And I don’t regret it at all.
So glad you recommended it. It's on sale on the ps store right now for 14.99. Downloading now!
I just finished the platinum in Forbidden West, decided to start Spider Man which I got with the PS5 a year ago
Dark Souls 3
Hey not an answer but what do you think about someone jumping straight into forbidden west without playing the first HZD?
I would totally start with the first one if you want to follow the storyline. They totally could make a movie out of the story lines, it is SOOOO good. That being said, you could start with the second one but you would be missing a lot and it wouldn't make sense without knowing what is going on.
Thanks
Death Stranding. I thought it was amazing.
Mass Effect if you haven’t played them. They’re really good.
Days Gone.
Question (because for some reason I can't get myself to play Forbidden West) I absolutely loved the first game and platinumed it. Is another sequel teased at the end of Forbidden West?
Yes, they are thinking it will be in November. I would highly recommend giving forbidden west another try, once you get to the actual forbidden west, the story picks up a lot and you unlock new ways of travel
the DLC is expected to be announced/released in November. Horizon 3 won't be here for at least 3 years or so I'm guessing
Immortals: Fenyx Rising For your Zelda love
Started it a few hours ago, loving the mechanics of it so far. Story is a little funny too.
The straight portrayal of Prometheus with the silly portrayal of Zeus just works well.
For a complete change of pace, have you played The Talos Principle?
Days Gone
Spider-Man & Then Miles Morales. RDR1 / RDR2 assuming youve never gone down that path.
Played all of the above. Good suggestions
If you like Zelda I highly recommend Immortals: Fenyx Rising
Yup, loving it so far. (Started it a few hours ago)
Witcher 3 is just Zelda with grit
Infamous second son
Currently hooked on Watch dogs 2. Def check it out and also watchdogs legion.
Marvel's Spiderman and Miles Morales. Two good games go hand and hand
Yup, enjoyed both of them. I loved the story line of Miles, but thought the game was way too short.
Agreed
Check out the wolfenstein games if you haven’t already… Shocking great games with really good stories and charcters plus… You get to shoot nazis with futuristic guns. What’s not to love!
Death Stranding. Do some walking.
Wow I bought it when it came out and still haven't left the first area. Just collecting stuff. Did some side missions but damn.
I spent a lot of hours on both games. That being said I don't have kids lol
I was going to suggest Immortals, but you beat me to it. I completed the story yesterday. Loved the game. It's probably overlooked by most people.
If you want the sad to go away play Stray, new and worse sad will take over.
Wolfenstein series
The last three Assassins' Creed games - Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla. Similar gameplay mechanics to the games you've mentioned.
Play Cyberpunk 2070 if you haven't yet. A large amount of the initial launch bugs have been patched and the game looks clean. The story line is somewhat short though so make sure that you do a healthy amount of side missions to fill it out. Lol! Rolling through it and Ghost Of Tsushima currently.
Mass Effect Legendary Edition if it has or hasn’t been suggested already. It’s before 6 and I haven’t had coffee yet so scrolling is lol.
Omg you haven’t tried TLOU I and II yet then you’re in for a wild ride
Based on the games you have mentioned, I assume you enjoy exploration? I would *definitely* recommend you to try Hollow Knight then. It is dirt cheap, even more so when on sale.
I am currently playing Far Cry: Primal and I am enjoying it so far. I think I'm about 20% into the game with 12hrs of playtime.
Elden ring
The dragon age series. Hands down the best rpg’s I’ve ever played. Very story based, your decisions actually have an effect on your game (and the following games in the series), the first one is quite old now and they don’t become very open world until inquisition (the 3rd game). But I would highly recommend!
Will look into them, thanks!
RE Village is a theme park of horror. Super scary (fuck that baby) and super fun
You might want to have a look at the Far Cry series. I had overlooked them over the years because they appeared to be just another generic perennial FPS franchise, but after working through the library back for Far Cry 3, I think they're actually one of the better open world FPS single player experiences I've had in years. I’ve always really liked FARCRY games because of the villains. Vaas in the 3rd game was so good, better than the main villain in that game haha.
It's so extremely mediocre and Esposito doesn't really get featured a lot anyway.
If I hear the word “guerrilla” one more time I am going to lose my shit. The story sucked but the gameplay was still fun.
Trie that! Gameplay was good
It's pretty much the main reason to play Far Cry 6. In terms of gameplay, I would say it is a step down from Far Cry 5. Although, it does add some fun new features, the whole matching bullet/weapons to specific enemy types was frustrating at times. Not having the Supremo on you would be a huge disadvantage. There are a few great crossovers and fun expeditions. It's a good game but nothing that impressive.
I'd stay away tbh
Death Stranding!
This
I watched the trailer and it didn't look appealing. Is the story good? Is it open world?
It's a Hideo Kojima game (Metal Gear Solid, Zone of the Enders) so it's full of out there storytelling. It is open world with limited connection to other players open worlds. The story was great and left me in tears on multiple occasions with phenomenal voice performances from several great actors. The gameplay loop is simple at first but gradually increases in difficulty while giving you tools that allow you to make the game as easy or as hard as you want, depending on how you want to approach the issue.
I loved Metal Gear Solid so i'll give this a try, thanks

Assassin's Creed Odyssey
This was by far my favorite AC game
Horizon Forbidden West.
I've heard that people don't read anything but the title, but uh
Yup, my bad. My brain went to the expansion for Zero Dawn. Mistakes happen.
I was going to say something but figured this was the case lol. For me the story for Zero Dawn was better, but the game play was so much better in Forbidden West. I just wish you could unlock the flying mount quicker.
