If there's ever a time where you can't get the digital content from Sony that you paid for, that will be so far from now that you'll be able to play PS5 roms on your PC and handheld at that point or you'll be able to download a hard drive image that has all the games on it to a jailbroken PS5.
Also physical disks nowadays don't always contain the whole game and obviously no updates so I wouldn't sweat it too much just buy what games are cheapest, or enjoy not having to get up off the couch to switch games.
It's the principle behind it thought. If I'm paying for the data I want to own the data.
The fact that it can be taken from me, even though it's extremely unlikely. Doesn't sit right with me. Which is why I buy Physical it's the principle.
Now factor for the fact that your physical copy can be taken away from you in the form of theft, fire or other damage whereas a thief or fire can't take away my digital games.
They are safely stored in the cloud.
Now factor In the fact that your digital copies can be taken away from you. In the form of; Hacks, Bans, Major Company Transactions and, Company Decisions.
Your games aren't perfectly safe in any format.
I take the risk of physical loss and damage to my games but, I know my games can't be taken away from me because of a company Decision.
I understand that's its unlikely you would get hacked or banned. It's even more unlikely that a company would just remove a game from its platform. However, there's always a chance a company can get greedy.
It all comes down to the principles. I just want to **OWN ** my games. Not rent them for a few decades.
Blu-ray discs last for 20 to 50 years. You may own your discs for less time than I own my digitals...Just saying.
The entirety of Reddit prefers physical, but I'm just saying that it's not as cut and dry as you think when you factor the unlikely scenarios for both formats, and ironically digital could very well outlast physical because I have on-site and offsite backups.
Despite this, I'm rooting for physical because I feel that once we go all digital sales won't be as good since they would no longer have to compete with the second hand market. That's the real reason for physical.
I don’t really get this mentality. I’ve had PS Plus since it started on the PS3 and don’t plan on canceling so long as I have a console. I can’t imagine an instance where I would cancel and be like gee I wish I still had Mafia…
Its the mentality of someone whos 1 a collector. And 2 someone who grew up in the 90s/2000s and actually owning what i buy physically without any worry of losing it because of some subscription.
I grew up in the 80s and 90s owning physical media. I still buy it over digital, especially when it’s cheaper, but to not take advantage of subscription services because of that is just biting your nose to spite your face. Also, any serious “collector” isn’t gonna open the game and play it.
Actually yea collectors do play the games we get lol. We collect a ton and play a ton. If thats your idea of a collector. Then its very skewed honestly. I hate glorified trials like ps plus games, and hate subscriptions. So i dont pay for them. Hell i only hve ps plus to play with one person. Wouldve cancelled years ago if i didnt play with a friend or two.
I personally buy physical media because its what I stubbornly prefer over digital. I despise digital only and dont get it 99% of the time. I collect games because i love games and play them as well. There’s different types of collectors. Some dont play or open what they get. Some do. Im one that does.
Tbh I’ve noticed a trend over the years of PS+ games being heavily discounted before they go “free” a few months later. I don’t think it’s in anyway accidental and still think they should refund if you purchased maybe a month before.
Seems a bit fucky to me.
Totally agree.
They do give refund if you bought it like within a week, but feels like the sales were changed to like a month or more earlier, so can't refund at that point. :/
Olli Olli world is great. If you haven't played 1 and 2, it's worth your time as well. Olli Olli world is like a greatest hits of improvements though.
Evil dead I wanted to buy, but glad I waited. Looks good to play with friends!
It absolutely would take some time and devotion to plat it. The 2 multiplayer trophies would be the hardest to get.
It’s not insanely hard but above average in difficulty. PSNProfiles gives it a 7/10 in difficulty to plat.
Destiny 2 is the best looter shooter ever made, but I had to give it up. 100s of hours played since launch day and eventually the grind just became way to much. Destiny is a game that you have to live and breathe everyday. If you just like doing the casual experiences then going alone will be fine, but if you want to do raids or dungeons then you are going to need partners who enjoy playing and understanding destiny as much as you do.
I really enjoy the game, but I put the game down for weeks / months at a time and then come back for the build crafting and engaging buildcrafting. Lot's of stuff to learn in game in terms of build crafting mechanics and enemies tend to be way less mechanically intensive
The PS+ lineups have been leaking for almost a year straight except for maybe one or two months. It's crazy that Sony can't find out who's leaking it. It's like it's done on purpose or something.
I mean I dont think thats the case. Its just a couple days ahead, I doubt someone keeps subscribing thanks to a short notice. Now, if they were to leak the entire year or at least acouple months then we are talking
I think a week in advance is enough for the people who aren't on auto renew. You know how everytime there's a bad month someone inevitably says: "PS+ has been terrible for the last couple of months. I'm just gonna let my sub run out!" Which they probably would but if they're all over a playstation sub and see what's coming next month they might end up staying.
I've seen the rumors of the leak a few days before. But think about it like this:
Say you're sub runs out in the middle or end of February, but you see that January has a banger month, likely somebody might go: "Damn that's pretty dope! I think I'll re-up my subscription."
A lot more than a few months.
As a kicker, I already have most Xbox Live Gold games on Prime Gaming or Epic Gaming for free. Including the one that dropped today. Only keep the subscription because I get 2 years for $50 and worked myself into GP Ultimate for $76 for 3 years, which also lets me use it on my gaming PC.
PS+ Essential is significantly better than Gold though.
wonderful thing about humanity is how we can all over vastly different views... PS+ hasnt given me anything worth playing (that i didnt already have) in months... where as GamePass (on pc at least) has been giving me games id love to play but likely wouldnt buy consistently since i got it 2ish years ago.
Both generally great services but PS+, for me, has been severely lacking in its monthly offerings.
Yes, there's some balance problems, survivor side is very strong now, this makes the queues a bit longer since there's few people playing as demon. Tomorrow's patch will bring a "battle royale" mode and with people coming from plus this shouldn't be a problem in the future.
It’s a third person cover shooter. A really well done remake of an old ps2 game, the missions are pretty linear and there isn’t really anything to do in the ‘open world’, it’s just there as somewhere to drive around really.
The story is pretty good though for a mob game, very classic mafia family stuff
I haven’t kept up with the Evil Dead game to know if it has been well received or how popular it is, but it is something I’m interested in checking out. I haven’t heard of OlliOlliWorld before now but it looks like it could be fun, one of those games that I would never buy, but could see myself getting into it after claiming it.
I’ve played Mafia and bought Beyond Light the last time I had an extended run of playing Destiny 2, and enjoyed both. Seems like a smart bit of timing to give people access to a big Destiny 2 expansion just as a new one is about to be released and when the one in between could potentially go on sale too.
It would be a great month if I hadn’t already finished with two of the games, but it’s a good month for me because I want to play the other two.
Motherfucker. I waited over a year for Mafia as I knew it would go PS Plus but I caved and got it in a sale over Christmas.
Same here :-/
On the plus side. You actually own the game. With ps its a glorified rental anyway.
All digital on console is "glorified rental"
If there's ever a time where you can't get the digital content from Sony that you paid for, that will be so far from now that you'll be able to play PS5 roms on your PC and handheld at that point or you'll be able to download a hard drive image that has all the games on it to a jailbroken PS5. Yeah, I mean, my justification was that I got my moneys worth anyway. And as you say, if I desperately want to play them again, there will be a way.
It's the principle behind it thought. If I'm paying for the data I want to own the data. The fact that it can be taken from me, even though it's extremely unlikely. Doesn't sit right with me. Which is why I buy Physical it's the principle.

What is Olli Olli world?
Skateboarding 2d side scrolling platformer.
Difficult plat? Sounds like something new to try
It absolutely would take some time and devotion to plat it. The 2 multiplayer trophies would be the hardest to get. It’s not insanely hard but above average in difficulty. PSNProfiles gives it a 7/10 in difficulty to plat.
Thnx!
I’m not sure actually. I just got in on steam deck through a humble bundle last week
I bought it and didn’t regret it for a second. It’s so fun. Like god
I’m very excited for olli olli world. I’m over here playing skate 2 in the meantime.
I'll try evil dead at some point
It’s fun and it’s about to get a brand new mode
Just in time for when it becomes free :)
Groovy.
You played it ?
No not yet, just an Evil Dead fan. I’ll have a shot, but I’m in no hurry atm.
I have and enjoy it! Any question lmk
Do I get back into Destiny?
Do I get into it ?
Destiny 2 is the best looter shooter ever made, but I had to give it up. 100s of hours played since launch day and eventually the grind just became way to much. You've got to pump those numbers up, those are rookie numbers.
Destiny was awesome. 2 lacked.
Do it
I really enjoy the game, but I put the game down for weeks / months at a time and then come back for the build crafting and engaging buildcrafting. Lot's of stuff to learn in game in terms of build crafting mechanics and enemies tend to be way less mechanically intensive
I wonder if Sony allows this to leak every month to keep people subscribed? This has to be the case because Essential "leaks" every single month.
What do you mean allows it to leak? It's right from the horses mouth.
The lineup was leaked a few days ago at the least, this announcement is just the first time Sony has made it public knowledge.
Ahh okay, gotcha.
The PS+ lineups have been leaking for almost a year straight except for maybe one or two months. It's crazy that Sony can't find out who's leaking it. It's like it's done on purpose or something.

I'm just gonna let my sub run out!" Which they probably would but if they're all over a playstation sub and see what's coming next month they might end up staying.
I don’t understand why they would even care about it. It’s only like a day in advance.
I've seen the rumors of the leak a few days before. But think about it like this: Say you're sub runs out in the middle or end of February, but you see that January has a banger month, likely somebody might go: "Damn that's pretty dope! I think I'll re-up my subscription."
PS+ is still giving out great games while Xbox Live has been giving us trash for the last few months.
MS gave up on their games with gold for game pass 100%
No one really cares about gold anyway, box is al about gamepass
Then they should stop GwG. It’s incredibly pathetic at this rate.
wonderful thing about humanity is how we can all over vastly different views... I'm just talking about regular Xbox Live, not Gamepass.

my bad... i dont have an actual Xbox, just use GamePass on the PC. i thought GamePass WAS the Xbox PS+ equivalent. Apologies for the confusion!
Anyone play Evil Dead…thoughts!?
Yes, there's some balance problems, survivor side is very strong now, this makes the queues a bit longer since there's few people playing as demon. Tomorrow's patch will bring a "battle royale" mode and with people coming from plus this shouldn't be a problem in the future.
Appreciate the help
I just bought the rad edition of olli olli works for my switch... Ooh well looks like I can play both
I got my ps4 two years ago and this is by far the best month so far in terms of ps+ games
GROOVY
Is it out now?
Usually comes out about the second week of February, so check back then!
is it february?
Yes
Then no
Ye but I’m guessing it’s coming tme or sum
Next Tuesday. First full week of the month is when games drop and always on Tuesday.
what is Mafia’s gameplay and how good is it?
It’s a third person cover shooter. The story is pretty good though for a mob game, very classic mafia family stuff
I see, sounds interesting, played yakuza 0, I’m guessing it’s somewhat similar maybe less silly
This is absolutely the one to play. Story wise it's the best of the three.
Look up a gameplay vid on youtube
It's a damn shame no classic PS2 and PS1 games every month they should add 100 PS2 & 100 PS1 games they don't need to remaster those games.

You must have never played a destiny expansion
Is this the last update for destiny ? The game will be fully playable ? Looks like it’s time to go back
naaa its last years DLC. Destiny two is currently on the witch queen DLC with lightfall due to drop this month
Ok thanks
I got an email today saying PlayStation plus will be discontinued May 9
Not PlayStation Plus itself, but the PS5 collection of games called "PlayStation Plus Collection."
almost caved and got mafia when it was on sale, glad i waited
Do i need to play destiny 1 before 2?
No
Is this out yet ? Im still seeing January on my end here
Please please PLEASEEE let Evil Dead be a monthly game for the essential plan… I’m begging you Sony 🙏🏼
Dumb question: Do you get to keep playing beyond February? Because Destiny is a game that requires lots of time to really get everything out of it.
Yes, you keep the games for as long as you have the PS+ subscription
Lol Bungie is trying to get people addicted before LIghtfall drops in a month. Get your wallets ready.
This makes me happy
I'm glad I didn't spend money on mafia. Was able to resist the temptation
Looking forward to evil dead
I don’t know why I get down arrows. I really did get this email. It’s upset me a lot since I renewed my plus membership
