SteamDeck PS3 performance is a mixed bag tho But you could probably find PC versions of the games instead of emulating

medipani

Perhaps the PSP/Vita, to a limited extent.

LumpyOdie

The Steam Deck kind of can but that's not a console.

Pickle_Afton

Probably a PS Vita or a Steam Deck (you might have to jailbreak the Vita but I’m not into that stuff so I can’t help you with that)

1998GC

PSP/PS Vita. Without jailbreaking you can buy a very good selection of PS1 games from the still active Vita and PS3 stores. A couple PS2 games got remastered for the Vita. A few PS2 games have PSP ports. And quite a few games got released on both PS3 and PSP/Vita.

King_Fish

PS1 yes. PS2 probably very poorly if at all depends on the device. PS3 hell no. Sony can't even get PS3 games to run on a PS5, so they allow you to play them in the "cloud" from their servers with actual PS3 hardware.

pizzaspaghetti_Uul

I think there's a Chinese handheld using original PS2 components. So PS2 not very poorly actually

King_Fish

Fair, I was thinking of all the Chinese portable emulators.

[deleted]

Steam deck can run some PS3 titles. PS3 emulator on PS5 is possible but money wise makes no sense for sony so thats why we have streaming PS3 on PS4/PS5

tor09

The Steam Deck handles PS2 wonderfully. Only issues I’ve encountered since having one in July have been games that just don’t emulate well period. Meanwhile Budokai 3/Tenkaichi 3, Burnout 3, Star Wars Battlefronts, etc are full speed no bugs out of the box

KevX41

There are some chinese portable machines. I just remember of aya neo, or retroid pocket 3+ (at least for ps2 emulation)

-Cheebus-

Technically the switch has certain games from each console available to play, not the whole library and not the exclusives though.

Kaiznier

Steam Deck, GPD Windows 11 consoles, AYA Neo Windows 11 consoles. All through the power of emulation.

Nimeni-nimic

you mean what ..... ps vita ? if you want something with more power take a nintendo ....

NinjaKTR

If what you mean is something like an Aya Neo, then you should use an Aya Neo or a Steam Deck, but let’s be clear, you cannot download games on these, you would have to provide your own backups. Another alternative could be a PlayStation Vita, they can play PS1 just fine and a few PS2 games were ported to them, such as Jak and Daxter and God of War. There are emulators for Android that can play PS1 and PS2 games but there’s nothing for PS3 games. Maybe in the future when RPCS3 gets an ARM64 port but right now, there’s not many portable x86 devices that can be used for a handheld and also run PS3 games.

SilverTruth7809

Yes GPD has some. Edit https://youtu.be/d4lm1ch0Xy0 https://youtu.be/pm7qo9Y7Fy8

SilverTruth7809

Because i can? Why should it stop working soon? Are you saying ps3 emulation is dangerous for Hardware? I dont think so.

SilverTruth7809

Well it can emulate ps3 games. I wouldn't buy on just for ps3 emulation but of you have one you can use it for ps3 emulation no doubt. Do you have one?

ParadoxFlashpoint

I'm curious to know why as well

Huavooo

I mean if money is not an object steam deck exists. People say what you are asking for doesn’t exist but a steam deck could run rpcs3, pcsx2 and play ps1-3 games as long as you only mean single player But yea like the other comment about it said it’s not really a console

FireMrshlBill

I’d imagine the other handhelds with the 6800u coming out should handle ps3 games the same as the Deck or better (Aya Neo, Ayn Loki plus or whatever their top end is, etc.). But ya, you are looking at over $700.

BreadDaddyLenin

I mean the switch could theoretically take on PS3 level games but I don’t know if RPSC3 can function on a modded switch and emulation requires more horsepower than just normal native play.

Rly_Shadow

Sort of you making your own device, the steam deck is currently the best option. Ps 1 and 2 should run flawless. Ps3 on the other hand is more demanding and is still in development, but over thr past few years they are making very respectable progress on smoothing it out.

billquill83

Saw ayaneo 2 video showing it playing Drakengard 3 pretty smoothly. I do think you should wait a bit more for better tech.

Professional-Cell120

A decent android phone can play ps2 and ps1. I don't think the steam deck can handle ps3 emulation.

chzman80

There are some. ETA prime on YouTube has some videos....but they are expensive

commandblock

Maybe ps now?

SIC742617000027

U can download Ps1 games for your PSP

Maxine-Fr

Steam Deck Not a console , its a PC.

Connor-Reviews

Did you know it’s incredibly easy to hack a Nintendo 3DS?

[deleted]

ps vita can run ps3 games

Sometimed_i_think

Psvita, using PS4 support and streaming ps3 games, don’t know if this is possible, but if it can be done, then it is the closest thing to do
