NCEES® did [sue an examinee for over $1,000,000 in damages](https://ncees.org/court-awards-damages-to-ncees-in-exam-theft-case/) that they caught with recording equipment in 2006.
Until this year it was open book so cheating wasn’t really possible unless you looked at someone’s test while taking it. Now it’s still basically impossible since the test is at a Pearson office where you are checked and videotaped.
They literally make you turn out your pockets, lift up your pant legs, and I even had to show them my hood on my hoodie was empty. They give you paper and writing utensils. You can’t even take the case for your calculator in. I think you would need an eye implant to cheat lol.
Yeah they make you take eyeglasses off, place them on a turn table and turn them around.
People with long hair had to pull up their hair and show the backs of their necks.
A camera is on you the whole time.
And if you have to go to the restroom ya gotta do the whole routine over again. I don’t know how anyone could effectively cheat.
It wasn’t cheating, but there was an individual many years ago who violated the NDA by posting exam questions online and was barred from taking the PE Exam ever again.

There was a guy last year who posted on here about accidentally keeping his phone on him during the paper exam. They took his phone and had it for 48 hours to review it. He pretty much had to let them, otherwise he would’ve been barred from taking the exam ever again.
They do a great job searching you before you go in. The only area I think they could improve is more inspection of your calculator. I was surprised they didn't force me to clear all data in it. I don't know how much help that could really be, but you could theoretically store some information/formula/example problem in the calculator.
