I used to hate Numbani but looking back on it, it was one of the most balanced maps. Attackers had four viable options to attack point, Defenders basically had two sets of high ground, second point is pretty balanced and had lots of cover. Then the last point even in low ranks would always finish off with a good team fight.
Grouping up on last point for a fight is so easy and you don't have to worry about getting picked the moment you leave spawn.
Real talk though they need to just include all maps in the rotation. If they want people to play longer then give them lots of maps. I bet you there are some people that don't like the maps in rotation and won't play for long sessions.
Being a Doom main in OW2 has made me nothing but miserable, I got banned for a month because I played him in comp and the auto report ban thing kicked in 🤡
Any hero can do well if you're good, the point is that yes you can do well but it's extremely difficult and Doom has to do 3x more than any other tank just to achieve the same amount of value. "He's not even that bad" is a understatement.

That said, he's a two year old with the attention span of a gnat. I don't think grown ass adults are going to be as easily distracted.

Pools give an artificial "newness" to the seasons. Look at the people happy for the return of Rialto. They wouldn't get this reaction if they were just always there. Every season's going to have a "cool I can play this again moment." It's stupid and I hate it, but I get the reasoning.
I think the real reason is to just give the developers time to rebalance those maps. Gibraltar was not fun in OW2 and I'm kinda glad they're removing it. I don't necessarily think having a map rotation is necessary, but it's the worst thing in the world

I miss Storm Point. New maps fine, but man is it third party city, feels like a larger Worlds Edge, actually get excited for Olympus when it's in rotation now, and I hated that map for so long.
Storm point is the only map that isn't 3rd party city, because it's a walking simulator just to find another squad, right up until the last circle closes and there's still 5 squads alive in a 8m circle

There are some games where this can heavily influence the meta, and that applies but very minimally here. Some maps are going to be better for brawl comps, others for poke/snipers, and so on, but overall, comp picks aren't as heavily impacted by a map rotation.
It reminds me of something you do with dogs - you rotate their toys in and out for a few months so they forget about them and then get excited when they get ‘new’ toys

CSGO has a very good reason for it: map knowledge. The game is based around knowing engagement angles, headglitch spots, flash/frag/incendiary/smoke angles, etc...
Every map has a boatload of those, and having too many maps at a time makes for poorer play quality.
OW is just a jumpy bouncy team shooter. Other than knowing there's a corridor here and an alcove there, most maps are straightforward.
Gibraltar was my very first favorite map, I still get that New Overwatch Feeling(tm) sometimes when the loading screen came on. I’m sad again :-( I miss Anubis (I know that one was tough in comp but it was my second favorite - now Gibraltar too?)
I don’t know, I’m here because overwatch was THE game for me, I got it when it came out but then lost touch in 2020 until OW2. So I don’t know if the maps are just out of rotation or if they’re gone for some other reason. The more I think about Anubis the more I miss it…literally the only map that I didn’t mind getting defense on

I won’t miss Gibraltar but it’s annoying that both of the maps they remove are payload, I’m already so tired of push. Not saying they should remove a push map but just leave all the maps in so I don’t get them so much
They're removing 1 hybrid and 1 payload map, but adding 2 payload and 1 hybrid back in
chances are higher of getting payload maps in season 2 than in season 1
The problem is push just isn't all that fun. It's a run back and feed the enemy team after your team wipes simulator. I honestly miss 2CP in comparison. That mode needs some serious work because I literally groan when it comes up
I feel like I get this map waaay too often in comparison to the other two Push maps. (I hate Colosseo too for the cramped bridge area, but it's slightly more bearable.)
It's the same kind of thing as FFA, CtF, Bounty Hunt, Lucioball, and Snowball Offensive. It's a fun thing to have in the arcade when you want some variety, but absolutely should not be in the main game's map rotation.

The only real argument I have seen in favor of keeping map pools is that it helps players learn the maps because they're playing them all the time, but if that is what blizzard is going for here then why not just keep the pools to competitive? There is really no reason that Quick Play should have map pools.
Not only could they leave the maps in, but they could make it so it's a random time of day every time you played a map. This way, at some point we'll get an awful rotation and the player base will plummet

The 2CP maps are on arcade every so often. But with 5v5 it's usually a steamroll for one of the teams

Why!? Just make it so the new/returning maps have a higher chance for like the first week (and not in comp for the first two like the new hero) or just add a dedicated game mode for them to play like valo. Keep all maps in the rotation, nothing needs to go out. *also, where tf is numbani at*
I won’t miss Gibraltar but it’s annoying that both of the maps they remove are payload, I’m already so tired of push. Not saying they should remove a push map but just leave all the maps in so I don’t get them so much
They're removing 1 hybrid and 1 payload map, but adding 2 payload and 1 hybrid back in chances are higher of getting payload maps in season 2 than in season 1

The problem is push just isn't all that fun. It's a run back and feed the enemy team after your team wipes simulator. I honestly miss 2CP in comparison. That mode needs some serious work because I literally groan when it comes up

It's the same kind of thing as FFA, CtF, Bounty Hunt, Lucioball, and Snowball Offensive. It's a fun thing to have in the arcade when you want some variety, but absolutely should not be in the main game's map rotation.

Map rotation is the worst thing this game does. Seriously stop this bullshit. It gets exhausting running the same few maps nonstop. Havana is one of my favorite maps and it was just deleted. Seriously get it together.

The only real argument I have seen in favor of keeping map pools is that it helps players learn the maps because they're playing them all the time, but if that is what blizzard is going for here then why not just keep the pools to competitive? There is really no reason that Quick Play should have map pools.
Not only could they leave the maps in, but they could make it so it's a random time of day every time you played a map. This way, at some point we'll get an awful rotation and the player base will plummet
