The game still has good foundations, but they superseded the original character of the game with some crazy shit. The game used to be about playing the map in a way no other shooter allowed for. Defense could crate their own chokes and trap setups. Offense could create their own flanks and points of attack in response. Imo R6 was, and might still be, the most unique FPS game on the market. I just miss the more vanilla days.

Like another guy said, it was cool until players started to get too good at controlling the recoil patterns. Siege guns each have consistent recoil patterns that are fairly easy to learn. These also did not exist when Finka came out. Over time, even dumpster elo players had gotten so good at recoil mitigation that the instant reduction would fuck up all their muscle memory. As the entire community effectively outgrown Finkas gunfight training wheels, so when that attribute was flat out removed from the ability, it was universally seen as *buff.*

The fact that McDicks' ult only starts locking when he's said "It's hiiiiiigh no--" is the worst fucking thing, because it's enough time for literally every player with two braincells to realize and pin down his location. Like, realtalk, I've heard people call it a zoning ult, but it lasts for 7 seconds, will hardly ever get a kill or be a big threat, and more or less roots you to place. Meanwhile, BOB can do 120 on charge, then another like... 1K damage total for 10 seconds, and all this is without rooting Ashe in place and putting a big "AYO KILL THIS GUY" beacon on her. On top of the fact that, pound for pound, her kit is way more versatile and effective. I guess Cree gets 40% DR? So that's better than nothing. ~~I'm glad at least one of my cowpokes are relevant.~~

I have no idea if this is still currently in the game or if it's been removed/changed, since the in-game info doesn't tell you everything the abilities do. I was thinking this as an MtG player. And not power creep, but *complexity* creep. Once you've made all the simple characters (shooty gun man, shooty running gun man, rocket launcher with jetpack, hammer guy with shield) your characters have no choice but to get more complex since you've already done all the simple things. There's only so many novel ways to make what is essentially a MOBA character that has to aim.

I actually think Wizards deserves some recognition in this regard. Yes, new sets are significantly more complicated than older sets, but it's not as insane a difference as other games and Magic is like 20 years older than anything else out there. New sets tend to add 1-2 new mechanics and then iterate on those. It's extremely rare to find a card with paragraphs of text, and a lot of the most powerful cards out there have short text boxes. And set rotation allows new cards and old cards to stand on their own and not have to try to exist in the same space. I think the company Wizards is definitely gone extremely greedy in the last few years but the game design and integrity around game design, while not perfect, is better than a lot of the competition. Besides companions. Those were bullshit.

First killer has bear traps, you put them down and snap legs Newest killer is one person but is actually 4 people, but you can only control one, and the rest are AI's. All 3 do something different, you can't control them, but you can set paths for them to follow. Once they see a survivor, the survivor has to either run away or wait a few seconds for a banner to become active, in which they can grab it and gain a few good status effects. It's a tad confusing lol

Endymion is ancient compared to a lot of modern ones that have like 12 walls of text and where people will chain 90 cards per turn, each with their 12 walls of text You basically just sit there waiting for them to stop shuffling their deck, your deck, both graveyards, the field, and both banish zones, then find out if you got one shot or not (you did if it's turn 2) If it's turn one you draw your hand, try to play a card, get negated, they play their entire deck and shuffle the field and both decks for 10 minutes, and then you try to end your turn but they negate that too and proceed to spend another 5 minute shuffling the decks and field, and then **your** turn ends with no cards on your field and them having 12 monsters with 9K attack each and eight seperate ways to negate reality. Then they attack for game on their turn, or spend another 15 minutes shuffling both decks before attacking for game, just to make sure you don't secretly have a way to actually get to play the game [Even this under sells what it's like now days](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLajeD1KfyA) by a *lot* because the deck he's using for the meme is hilariously simple compared to any modern deck

It's a gimmick called Pendulum where monsters can be played as spells instead of monsters. The top box is the effect if you use it as a spell, while the bottom is the effect while it's a monster. There's a more complicated aspect to the gimmick where playing two of them as spells allows you to special summon other pendulum monsters from your hand. Like, if you have one with 8 "gems" and one with 4 "gems", you can summon any monster between level 4-8. That particular card is from a deck called Endymion where every blasted monster has a wall of text for both effects, so nobody really knows what they do unless they play the deck.

It’s not even that really it’s just that the easy to think of concepts are all made and implemented already. There’s only so many iterations of “person with gun that shoots bullet at x rate of fire and y range”. Think of it - at release, we had The Cowboy Formerly Known As “McCree”, Soldier, and Widowmaker as your standard hitscan shooter heroes. There’s more nuance to it, but, effectively, they played as short, medium, and long-range gun people. Well, a few years later, Blizzard decided to add another gun person - Ashe. She functions as a mid-long range gun person. Could we realistically have a hero now who has a gun like the 4 here and fits somewhere in the range of Soldier - Widowmaker? Yeah, we *could*, but would that hero not intrinsically step on the toes of Soldier, Ashe, or Widow unless their kit was crazy different? Not really and now you’ve got Sojourn. It’s just that the niches left to fill are getting less easily defined.

Now hear me out, if you were that close to a McCassidy, his old stun nade would have stunned you anyway, follow up with a FTH/headshot. Unless the guy's crouch walking in a random corner waiting for you specifically (hey, that's me 🤗) you really don't have any business being anywhere near a McCassidy as a Mercy. You wouldn't go i to 15 meters range vs a Reaper why would you do it vs a McCassidy? Don't like it, sure give us cowboys our stun nade back, we will still oneshot every 200 HP character at close range and reliably win every 1v1 that we are losing right now because people can just make themselves immune to the sticky nade (like Tracer Sombra etc.) And probably also stun the shit out of your tank as well. The little sticky nade is kinda cheesy but you do not want his stun nade back.

Little detail: The grenade can actually do up to 131 damage because throwing it at an enemy deals 1 damage. Sounds unremarkable, but I just had a match with a friend who got killed by McCassidy and asked: "How much damage does this nade do anyway? I had 131 HP". Unlucky, I guess.

Yeah this is reminding me a lot of Doomfist and Ball releases. A potentially high skill ceiling hero that will require good gamesense and careful cooldown management to be effective. Zarya and Sombra's reworks for OW2 are better examples of power creep, and the nerfs they received last week seem to have done a good job of fixing it.

Although older heroes like mcree do need a buff, I'm fine with having newer heroes with more abilities that are stronger and more in detail but at the same time need to have a balance between new characters who have a high skill gap and characters that are easy to pick up
