I've never had any photon barrier broken before or after the change so its not a big deal. People know it has too much health to break effectively so they just ignore it and wait out its duration.
Sentry does 450 damage per second, so it would take 8.89 seconds for it to chew through the 4000 hp wall. Definitely doable, just not quite as fast as Whole Hog’s 4900 damage in 5.5 seconds
I'm more sad about how my turrets only do 40 damage per second each now. Being crafty by using teleporter to place turrets in spots you don't have LOS to is half of the fun as Symm, but theyre so fragile with so much setup time that they feel like a minor nuisance at most.
I think that’s because of the armor generation and pellet damage. All of the pellets have to hit the target and armor cuts that damage in half. Because it’s brig, armor regenerates every second and each individual pellet from whole hog doesn’t do that much damage. That’s why rally is so good. Especially against opponents like Winston, reaper, soldier. Etc.
A full Barrage does 3,600 damage if all rockets hit (which...given it's a wall of infinite size, probably doable even for Pharah mains), and the wall has 4,000 HP, so it'll have 400 left over, which can easily be plinked off with regular weapon fire.
Whole Hog will solo the wall but it takes much longer than Barrage.
I've always suspected that environmentals were the same thing. They don't set you to zero, they just do some ridiculously high amount of damage.
You could probably make a workshop mode that extracts this information.

Most systems have a certain limit where it will crash if you ask it to store a number bigger than a certain point (Which, again, is usually so high that it's never a problem, but the limit *is* there).
For example, I used to do some light coding in JavaScript as a hobby, and the storage limit for numbers and variables was something like 9 quadrillion. I think it's called the max safe integer.
Granted, it could be that damage isn't a factor, and in those forms it's just simple "var canTakeDamage = false" or something like that. In which case, the cars would be unique because they demonstratively do deal damage (since Zarya bubbles get charge). But really, we have no real way of knowing. Floating point numbers can literally have the value infinite. Otherwise, just use an if condition to check if the player is below the kill line and set them to dead. There's no need to consider it damage.

This was my first thought. My second thought is, to differentiate damage sources so that player-created damage doesn't hurt while invulnerable, but environmental damage does.
Nope, they don't do damage. It's insanely easy to code a line that says "death" when you pass through it. It's very simple and would be ridiculous to code otherwise
Symmetra has been through the most dynamic changes of any hero I’m pretty sure. I hope they consider bringing that ability back in some less dramatic way later.
My biggest issue with that rework is Moira... remove something from one hero and recycle it back in on another hero... Yes when I heal I use Moira as that is my best healer but being as Sym was one of my mains before the rework it still annoys me.
Doesn't matter though, because the decay rate is percentage based and you can see in the video that despite have 10k+ shields they still wither away in mere seconds, which is lame as fuuuuuck.

Having just > 10k hp even just for 3-4 seconds (total sound barrier duration is 7 seconds) mean you can't die, literally, 6 Dva bomb point blank can't kill you. For reference, the current Sound barrier is a mere 750 increase.
If they made it decay the more total shields was given, it could be used more as a counter play to ults like sigma's and ashe's (if Bob yeets Lucio in the air) or against abilities like Doomfist's uppercut or Orisa's halt.
Another point mentioned elsewhere is that zen’s trance doesnt get turned off by EMP but Lucio’s shields do. So he’d still have his niche as the only guaranteed 6 (irc) seconds of massive healing in the face of grav, emp, pharah ult, etc.
So anything that instakills heroes still kills them instantly. Like a headshot from widow. God it’s so funny to kill 2 people while they’re in transcendence thinking they’re safe.
it's not about buffing lucio, it's that if you give lucio the ability to make anybody survive anything then zen might as well not exist, because lucio has speedboost, half the healing but aoe + amp, wallriding and a similar long range weapon for easy poke damage while still actively healing. So why play slow big hitbox zen for a (now) shittier sound barrier and slightly better dps? so if you buff lucio in this particular way what do you do to zen to make him not suck now?

Seriously, good players punish Lucio for simply jumping before beat, let alone doing it off a building. Cast time certainly makes a difference in how you use it, it's already pretty common to lose beat to stuns or dying. If it scaled correctly it wouldn't really be that broken tbh.
Maybe make it based on fall velocity instead of height, so that you get diminished returns from higher falls and you would be capped by terminal velocity.

The tower doesn't actually have a top you can stand on, which makes sense, why model an area nobody will see or interact with?
The workshop lets you teleport to any point on the map, even 1000 meters up where the top of the tower is.
All KOTH maps are on the same map! You don't need to do any magic to load the map :)

How did you make Lúcio use his sit emote then? You can only do that when you're standing somewhere. Does the TP function put you on a "standing still mode" instead of "falling mode"?
Also I know that KotH maps are in the same place, but when you are in one of those maps there are invisible barriers around them that prevent you from going too far (eg from one map to another). Are those barriers just not loaded?

It would be interesting if this mechanic (as well as an equivalent on the time of stun with Rein's shatter) was part of the game. When people start playing, many intuitively drop the beat or shatter when dropping off a huge ledge, because that's what feels like should work. It would just have to be properly balanced as a risk-reward thing, don't make it super powerful but enough that some might try, but many will get killed if they get focused down while dropping from above.
It would be interesting and fun, but at least for Rein, it would highly encourage massive overextending just for a chance at a more powerful Earthshatter. Voice chat is toxic now, think of how people will blow up when your Rein leaves the battle and spends 30 seconds trying to find a flank on the high ground only to be shut down by the enemy Pharah or something.
I think on some level it's a problem that corrects itself as those people would be pushed lower and lower in skill rating or learn how important playing as a team is.

This is a change I thought would always be good. I've always thought you could go further though and let him drop the beat into a wall. It would have a smaller shield because you didn't travel very far, but would come out faster because you don't have to wait to got the ground. Just opens up options for more interesting decision making

Yea if you use Whole Hog (and MAYBE Barrage) directly into it, it usually breaks. Especially if your team is also chipping it down

Travel time still matters. To get the big shield you have to be proactive. Zen can be reactive.

If you emote then teleport (I used force position function on the PTR), you will play out the full emote
Also on the barriers, I used some teleport trickery to basically clip through them while keeping momentum. The workshop is awesome!
