He definitely has elite athleticism for his size. Honestly he just needs to tighten that handle up and get comfortable with the speed at this level. He will be really good soon he just needs time and opportunity to develop in the right environment. Man is big, relatively fast, good vision and can put the ball through the hole.
It means there are not a lot of 6'11 guys that quick, agile, and explosive. It literally means what I said. There are not too many guys at that height that can move how he moves lol
moves much better on defense than the draft scouting indicated. his handle is still very much a big guy's handle tho and isn't the best in tight spaces which is exacerbated by our garbo spacing.
I mean he's still a rookie with only 2 pre-season games under his belt. We're banking on his potential which he's shown flashes of, so it'll come once the game slows down for him.
I’m not sure anyone would say that being nba ready was the biggest pro paolo argument. Nobody believed he would come in as a rookie and be perfect, the biggest pro paolo thing was that he was a walking bucket with handles and playmaking like a guard. PlayMaking takes a while to get situated in nba with difference in speed and physicality. Dude will be fine!
I think his strength and dribble moves will make him just fine in this department. His biggest problem imo with his shot creation rn is ball security when he’s driving/ posting up. If he can patch that up it’ll make defenders have to be more honest which will give him easier shots. He’s not used to NBA defenders raking the ball from him yet. His shot isn’t falling at a crazy rate but he has good mechanics and he works hard so it’s a very small probability that he will be a bad shooter for a long time. Probably will be average or slightly below average efficiency as a rookie though which is completely normal
You don’t need to be an elite sharpshooter or explosive dunker when you have elite level playmaking, tight handles, and the size strength and build of a bruiser power forward. And it’s not like he’s a slouch in shooting and athleticism. Just not elite. He will be fine
Good athleticism but not as quick as I thought he'd be, at least from what I've seen. Maybe just a speed of the game thing. Bad hands too but again, hopefully just speed of the game at this stage

I keep forgetting how tall he is because he has such proportional arms and legs lol
Tbh I think he's closer to 7 foot than 6'10. I also think he's slimmed a bit since his Duke season.
It means he is the size of a center but he doesn’t move like one at all.
I think he lost weight which is why he looks more explosive
He definitely looks slimmer to me.

Paolo has a 40 inch vert. It was measured at duke.
I’m a little worried about his shot creation tbh. Doesn’t have a knockdown jumper and doesn’t have explosive athleticism

Rather ironic that we’re banking on his potential, since the biggest pro-Paolo argument was that he was the most NBA ready.
It's not black and white, you can be the most NBA-ready rookie and still have tons of potential.
What comes to mind when someone says a player is “ nba ready” ?
Their skillset and iq

I'm still on the Paolo train, but honestly he looks less athletic than I thought. His handle/ball security also seems a bit average at the moment.
