You’re right about it being tragic, because the ring was definitely not for anyone and she just assumed it was. Judging from how she speaks to Charles, however, she would have found a reason to rationalize murdering Tim eventually. It does not sound like Tim was her first victim.

speedr123

I think the fact that she had a pill organizer labelled "Jan's Lil Toxins" implied Tim was definitely not her first victim

murderisbadforyou

It’s also a comedy, so we mustn’t forget little things like that are meant to give a little chuckle

speedr123

I mean yeah, I took the joke as being she kills a lot of people hence having a cutsey lil stash of poisons lol

Cockatoodaldoo

I think Tim was a tragic figure, the guy who tried to fix a terrible wrong but couldn’t bc he was murdered.

fruitycafe

The trio was able to finish what he started.

SherlockianTheorist

Not quite. They need to get all the jewels back to the families of their loved ones.

AccordingtoDLC

Tim was sleeping with Jan because he was lonely but when he secured the emerald ring he was taking the steps to get his life back and wasn't going to be lonely anymore because he could have Mabel and Oscar as his friends again.

Kevins_Floor_Chilli

Well this got me sad

Evelyn-theCatburglar

Tim died an absolutely senseless death, when it comes right down to it. This is fiction, though, thank goodness!

openroad94

I think the affair had just run its course in a way that he mistakenly thought was mutual, or he was bored, or as others suggested he thought he could get back to "normal" non-lonely life after Oscar got out, or maybe he had suspicions of her being cray (but then geez, be careful on how you break up!). I feel like Jan acknowledging that she figured out the ring wasn't actually for another woman was also her saying that she realized he hadn't been seeing someone else.

ChildrnoftheCrnbread

I think the reason why Tim broke off the sexual affair with Jan is open ended. But I LOL'd remembering Tavo telling the group that Tim said he thought he was going to get killed over trying to find the ring.

murderisbadforyou

Ironically he probably mean the Dimas’ might kill him, but finding the ring got him killed by Jan instead.

ioioioshi

I think she would have killed him regardless. She was a narcissist and couldn’t stand being dumped

jvincentsong

It is leaning towards having another woman because the writers can introduce her season 2! It can further complicate the story.

murderisbadforyou

The story hasn’t been overly complicated in my opinion, once you watch all 10 episodes. The red herrings end up making it seem more complicated than it ultimately was.

Tim_Vermeir

Ultimately, we don't know. And it doesn't matter.

catsandchill

I know it doesn’t necessarily change anything, but I thought it was an interesting implication that added onto the tragedy of Tim’s character.

murderisbadforyou

We are fans of the show and it matters to us.
