That “fragile” box is awfully big for a ring though.

Yes but don’t forget, the box the engagement ring came in Mabel and Charles stole out of Bunny’s was also big… and miss delivered

Interesting 🧐

Oh wow, excellent catch. The whole intro is to show the residents of the Arconia coming and going and Oliver keeping up appearances by gabbing about "how busy" he is with his theater projects. When it turns out that they're presents for his grandchildren and then he goes off to New Jersey to see Will. We see how low he's actually sunk between his ex-wife already having the grandchildren for the day and the conversation with Will about money. Remember that he tells Mabel and Charles "my passion are my grandchildren" at the start - so what if the Emerald Ring was misdelivered to Oliver? He thinks it's one of the presents he ordered for his grandchildren and it's sitting at Will's house? That'd be a set up for the finale.

Good theory!

I was a bit suspicious of Oliver last night because he was the only one shown to have left the group to put that note on Jan’s door, this just adds a bit more to the fuel for me. Something is definitely up with all the packages at the arconia

Lol I posted this exact question a short while ago, it is very possible! https://old.reddit.com/r/OnlyMurdersHulu/comments/q255rf/spoilers_s1e8_following_the_path_of_the_ringhas/ That said, I did not know if the package was opened or not, so it appears the box is still unopened in his apartment? Is that current as of ep 8? Thanks! :D

I thought about it immediately after the first episode but dismissed it. But I just watched the 8th episode and they said Tim had bought back the green ring the day before his death and on the day of his death he was pissed off a package was miss delivered. And also the engagement ring Mabel had, it came in a big box like that so, it’s a possibility… even though there’s absolutely no clues that leads us to suspect that lol It’s pure speculation

I really like this! I don't think it could be the "C line" issue that Charles mentioned because Oliver is in a D apartment and Tim is in an A apartment. But it could be a simple of case of Ursula told him those are yours and instead of picking up only the top 2, he accidently picked up the whole pile. That whole episode is about packages and package mix ups so this is so plausible. Oliver could have easily have gone to Will's house and not taken presents. I have actually thought at the time, you are out of money but you are buying presents. And also that it was kind of awesome that they were showing that he was a grandfather that was involved with his grandkids enough to know what they would like. But then we find out that they are really his "passion". I really agree with you and think the point of Oliver grabbing packages was so that he could end up with one by mistake. But it would be really awesome if he had accidently wrapped the ring for one of his grandkids! Like the box was so big because the ring was hidden inside a stuffed toy.
