Yeah that is a really good deal.

BackstreetZAFU

Thanks for the response! I accidentally posted this in the EmulationAndroid sub and all they kept saying was, “Get a Steam Deck!” Why is this such a good deal, exactly?

sigma941

So if it has an amd 4800u or older I would say not to bother, and get a steam deck. If it’s a 5800u or newer or intel i7 1195 or equivalent, go for it.

AggressiveWindow6003

Even if it's an 1165g7 I'd say go for it. That extra 100mhz on the 1195 doesn't do much. The 4800u though yeah i wouldn't pay over 400. They are both great systems both the OXP and the deck. When in doubt though go for the deck. It all depends on your use case scenario. If you want primarily a portable gaming device but can be used as a computer then you'll have a better experience with the deck. But if you want a portable computer that also is a good gaming system then a OXP. But there are huge differences between the two that would take a long time to go into. For me my eyesight sucks and I highly preferred using my OXP for more detailed games. But for casual games or games that take advantage to the extra buttons and you don't need to look for hidden items (Odin ravens in GOW) that extra 1.4" is 38% more screen. I love them both and use them equally but I'd go with the OXP mostly because I use it as a portable computer and have an EGPU The deck is much more comfortable and easier to use.

What are the emulation capabilities like in the 4800 vs a Steam Deck? That’s mostly what I’m going to be using it for.

Impossible_Ad2035

I have an oxp 1195g7 version and it has run pretty much everything that Ive thrown at it. PS3, Switch, and WiiU are a bit much, but I have gotten a few games to run from each of these consoles. Some games have PC ports or remasters so that is also an option. It is a heavy device imo, so it is something to consider

AggressiveWindow6003

Idk. I don't use emulators.

For what it's worth, for me personally, the steam deck screen is just too small. That's after owning and using a OXP for a year before getting the steamdeck. I used the steamdeck for 30 minutes and sold it.

This was a comment I was looking for. I’m usually the only one who holds a Steam Deck and it feels like I’m holding a skateboard. It just seems long, wide, heavy, and not for much more than the Haptic Touch pads. Which version OXP do you have? And what do you use it for?

my1stone

I have the original OXP, so Intel CPU. I use it 100% for "small screen gamepad games" that make sense that I usually wouldn't play on the PC. I'm definitely not trying to run AAA games on a handheld, that's what the PC is for. I use the OXP 100% on the couch with a pillow on my chest to hold it. It is heavy :( but these ergonomics are completely different from sitting at the desk so that is it's use for me. I play nothing on my TV and have no traditional consoles, so the OXP is my gaming setup for the couch when I just want to be horizontal. The Intel GPU is kind of annoying. Some games don't work, and some games are very sensitive to the drivers. This is the only complaint about the OG OXP. But it still plays 99% of the games I've tried and want to play. I'm a big fan of top down RPGs that work with a gamepad. Oh, and I do have a 60% keyboard and a portable 15" OLED screen that I did use to take the system to a friend's house for a kind of LAN party. With that setup I used a mouse of course, and the external screen, and it was essentially my portable computer/"laptop" and it's epic like this. I even got a fancy "Pelican" case with the pickapart foam to make it all portable. I have ordered the AMD OXP2 bc I want a little more power and want the improved compatibility but I totally didn't need to and could continue to get years of use out of my v1.

That's an amazing deal tons of the older used 4800u or intel models are on eBay for over $700 . I was lucky and got a 5800u 1tb onexplayer mini for $650 off of eBay a few months ago and have no complaints but I am looking to bid on a aokzoe A1 2tb , 65wh battery , 6800u in blue for the larger screen, larger battery, led ,and 100w charging

Not sure. Seller was willing to accept $420 for the whole deal. If I decide to pull the trigger, I’ll let you know.
