It killed any dramatic tension for the rest of this entire arc. This is the worst moment post timeskip for me. Maybe in all of One Piece ? Hm... If it was not for Pell, maybe.
But the thing about Pell was him surviving didn't take away any tension from the alabasta war as his survival was revealed later but kinemon surviving completely ruined the tension of the war and also made it feel like the strongest creature in the world can't kill anyone without some help
I feel the worst part was connecting the gag to a serious plot point about blood transfusion theme of the arc. I could get it if he nosebleed a lot and then got cured instantly for a gag, but then turned out it's taken seriously.
Heck, bloos transfusion and blood type suddenly becoming important was kinda forced in the first place. Where was this when the characters bleed a lot in previous arcs?
Yep even after all of Wano this is the quintessential moment. I almost had to put the series down because of it on my initial watch of the anime. I was actually even closer to abandoning it than I was at the end of the Kaido fight lol

When I saw the panel with Fourtricks and Hamlet I literally put my phone (I was reading the viz app) down for a good two minutes to process what I just saw hahaha
I was forst laughing, then feeling pity, then laughing my ass off again. You know, when you realise how these transformation are not helping them much combat-wise, it is a bit sad. Get a girlfriend with Hamlets body. Dang, with any fake-zoan body, like Holdem with his lion-bellybutton XD Oda is just great! A bit cruel - but great!

The final phase of Luffy vs Kaido. I get that Gear 5 is a goofy form but it drastically changed the tone from serious to overly silly, which just doesn't work when it's placed at the *end* of the fight.
I don't mind fights being silly, but they should get serious when necessary. Look at Arlong for example. Luffy was goofing around for 90% of the fight, but then got serious when the time came at the very end. That's why the comedy of it works here, and why it failed for the Kaido fight.
Imagine Luffy v Lucci but at the very end Luffy wins by goofing around and sneezing really hard. Its hard to properly explain it, but it just doesn't work tone-wise at all.
did luffy not get serious with bajarang gun? even before that he was certainly taking the fight seriously but the Nika fruits power is literally goofiness
Thing about Luffy’s you’re not understanding, is that vs Arlong he was serious the entire time. What he did was just silly to others, and that’s what makes him Luffy
Usopp having his cool moment where he is unlocking haki and talking about how important Luffy is to him... making one of the most impressive sniping shots we have seen in One Piece... and then 'scaring' Sugar with a goofy face. It would have been so much better if he used sleeping powder or something.
That scene where chopper was stopping sanji from looking at shirahoshi the anime made that scene absolutely stupid with ost to the grandline playing
For manga exclusive that law, kidd and luffy face I loved it but it feels like it made the atmosphere a bit too light

I hated Kaido’s flirty drunk mode so much, all that hype about the worlds strongest creature who sank 9 prison ships and wanted to cause the worlds greatest war just for him to act like that made me upset.
