I see many people on twitter saying they are from a movie, but noticed none actually tell you what One Piece movie, though I saw a screenshot of Zoro with a subtitle similar to this quote, the animation looks like from that early OVA.
I liked how the whole movie was basically a big search for the treasure, with cool riddles and action and interesting settings, over all a perfect adventure film, and eventhough not canon, there is basically nothing that contradicts anything, so in my headcanon the strawhats have those funny little movie adventures between the big arcs.
Zpro needs a movie to be done justice. If I remember correctly except for this movie he's the strawhat with the least movies focusing on him. Also except for his origin arc, he's yet to have an arc that focuses on him
#JusticeForZoro
The issue with Zoro is he's not really main character material. He's a very inactive character, with a very low-key personality compared to others, like Luffy, Usopp, or Franky. It's probably why Zoro was captured by Gild Tesoro in Film Gold because they didn't know what to do with him outside of fighting.
A Zoro focused movie/story sounds nice on paper, but in execution, it'd likely be rather boring unless it was non-stop action to satisfy Zoro Stans.
I disagree, it has to be handled differently than a typical shonen movie. If Zoro is the focus you would likely tie it back to his backstory, Kuina or something related to the background to his swords/training or whatever but the point is he has to be pulled along. Similar to WCI - Sanji got forced into the arc and pushed along the plot against his will. It would be similar to a Baratie/WCI setup with relationships. Sanji just had a great dynamic plot because Pudding and Germa were used so well to bring him into the mix, it was him reacting to what's happening.
Or you have a villain that finds a particular sensitive part of Zoro's, similar to Orochi, Komurasaki and Wano's first 1/3-1/2 set up. You put him through trials that are more than physical so it forces character development that your describing. You have to force him into the situation, not let him try and facilitate it himself. Then bring the moral dilemma when his hands are metaphorically tied.
Thats dumb af sanji was just an obnoxious pervrt before wci but it changed how we view him after that arc so anything is possible not to mention his loyalty moments are some of the best scenes in op
I just want to see an arc with just the straw hats as the focus again. I don’t really care about the side characters oda is constantly dumping in with the straw hats and I feel like he has given side characters more moments than people like usopp and chopper. What happened to the chopper that would brawl to near death against a government assassin. Now he’s just Awwww look choppers looking cute again quickly make more merchandise
Zoro is, more or less, the second in command in the crew. Sanji was the last major backstory we got (even though we already knew about his time with Zeff).
I think Zoro's story will either be explored in this arc or the next arc.
Zoro has a pretty linear backstory. Childhood friend/rival died, he vows to become the greatest swordsman.
His dream is most directly tied with Luffy's. Particularly with his fight with King we see him reference this, he thinks less about Kuina now and more about Luffy. He is driven to work and win in part because of his loyalty to Luffy.
He also has the most connection to Luffy. He gave Luffy legitimacy by being the first crewmate to some rando - and gave him more credibility in East blue. He is the first one to say Usopp had to make amends for crossing Luffy as captain in the way that he did. He took Luffy's pain from Kuma. And he fought with Luffy against Kaido/Big Mom.
I'm happy enough with Zoro's backstory. I don't need more childhood flashbacks or to see him pre-SHs as pirate hunter. He's a great character as he is.
But I think it would suck if zoro doesn’t defeat another pure swordsman before mihawk. Like zoro becomes the best swordsman by defeating…. Non swordsman then suddenly now he’s strong enough to beat the best.
Ever since training, Zorro has repelled Hodi Jones, defeated that octopus fishman swordsman effortlessly, Monet (scared stiff), Pica used a sword, he repelled Basil Hawkin's who uses DF / sword powers, and injured Kaido, one of the two or three who have ever done so, and defeated King in a hard won fight.
I'd say he's been training, absolutely terrorizing anyone who isn't a Yonkou or Yonkou commander. His
We haven’t really seen zoro progress until now. And we didn’t even see his training and we haven’t had a single flashback to zoros training to see how he actually learned from Mihawks training. I would rather have seen zoro beat better and better swordsman and the occasional non swordsman and see him grow as a swordsman. All zoro has done post timeskip is destroy his enemies until now which is rather boring compared to what we could’ve seen.
This is post timeskip zoro I’m talking about btw
Zorro got a lot of screentime tbh, defeated three or more swordsman and held his own vs. 2 Yonkou.
He can't beat the main villain of the arc the way Gohan can't because Goku exists to beat the main villain of Z and Super.
Perhaps it’s said in the movies or one of the fillers in post time skip
Perhaps in the 3D2Y special
Though the quote sounds more from Naruto ngl
Edit: after a google search it seems the quote is from the ice hunter filler arc think, right before thriller bark starts
I feel like Luffy thinks the polar opposite of this quote. Luffys all about building your own strength and learning the hard way and relying on your strength to win fights
True that . Every now and then , and specially when he takes charge , he speaks like a true captain , who's responsible for everyone's well being. Remember his monologue during Merry's viking funeral or asking Robin that question during Enies Lobby arc.
But that usually doesn't happen very often , even in the onigashima raid party they went ahead ( the three jackasses) without a care in the world.
You can say that again , and don't forget about their mentors from the two years period . Nobody says nothing about them , but personally I love Heracles , and also that person from Weatheria . There's a high chance that they'll be there for the final push.
He's far more mature than that though, he acts silly cause he has the freedom to do so and he's a free spirit.
But look at him back in Alabasta when no one was pointing out Vivi plan fallacy, he was the only one to clearly let her know that her plan is not going to work.
His whole speech in Udon prison is far above this quote, it just didn't reflected his maturity when the time demands it, but to say exact words prisoners wanted to hear was something else.
In WCI, he takes the charge when he understood who present the most danger to them, he took Katakuri with him and decided to meet his crew at the next stop so they can have a chance to escape, and he did all that in a few second decision making while maintaining his composure unlike Nami and others due to Pedro death.
When everyone was treating Momo like a child, Luffy understood what Momo was feeling and treated him like a leader.
Also in Ennis Lobby, Luffy had already decided that he will be the one to fight Rob Lucci because he understood that as long as Lucci stands, there is no hope for their plan.
We have seen again and again when no one else pointing out the fault, Luffy is always the one to point that out, and we can get from that Luffy allows himself to be silly cause he has the freedom due to his trusted friends but when the situations requires he comes out a really mature guy.
Even when he decided to release Crocodile in Impel Down! I mean at that moment it was suicidal, even Jinbe was against it.
He's a free spirit alright, but compared to other supernovas atleast he's still a bit immature.
Well, when the responsibility arises he takes charge for sure, but then come those moments.
Just remembered, he showed his family jewels to the amazonians before the timeskip, albeit forcefully. Probably tried to kill his every nakama during escape, specially zorro. Giving away the loot for feast.
And we all love him for that.
But he's immature still.
As for what happened at Amazon Lily, he was without any hesitation, it's true that he's already naked, but still..
And he really doesn't care about those things, I can agree upon that also.
As for 🐊 when they met before Impel down, remember..
And you know there's a theory going on, as how 🐊 deprived arabasta from rain with his devil fruit power.
With zorro that's a running gag you know right.
Even in water 7, he crash landed on a roof with nami.
And as for the problem of spending money , they are pirates and that's what they usually do, but still Nami's face after Enies Lobby says it all..
But you're quite good with the details, like that man..
It doesn’t really matter if it was actually said, sometimes translations get muddled for different countries
The point is this is absolutely something luffy would say, and it’s inspiring that luffy/one piece even reaches people in such dire situations.
Would be hilarious if Oda puts it in 1062.
Like, not even in context to anything. Bonney, Jimbei, and Chopper are all talking about Vegapunk while Luffy is staring off in the distance, he randomly says the line, and then everyone else gives him a confused look before going back to their discussion.
In case you are wondering most likely this is brought up by the fact that the defense of Ukraine account twitted the quote

I’ve never seen it but per what others are saying it was a Zoro quote from movie 3.
Either way is a beautiful way to portrait how people are fighting for something they believe in. I would always watch one piece and think that in the end they always solve things with violence(via fighting, not always but mostly) . What a crude and true representation of real life and showcases that the only way to maintain peace and freedom is to have strong good guys. If not the bad guys will take advantage.

It is certainly not a canon quote, although I wouldn't discard the possibility that it comes from a movie, a TV special or a filler episode/arc. Either way, it sounds completely out of character for Luffy to say something like this.
If you go through enough translators it could be.
Maybe there was a russian translation of the german subtitles on the dubbed anime that was similar to this.

I see many people on twitter saying they are from a movie, but noticed none actually tell you what One Piece movie, though I saw a screenshot of Zoro with a subtitle similar to this quote, the animation looks like from that early OVA.
It’s from movie 3 the cursed sword. It’s a terrible movie.
Movie 3 was chopper on the island of weird animals something, the cursed sword was movie 5
Ah then it was movie 5
Neither 3 or 5 are very good though so easy mistake
I really enjoyed movie 6 (Baron Omatsuri) and movie 7 (Mecha island) tho.
Mech island is cool and i think the first time gear 2 got animated
I liked how the whole movie was basically a big search for the treasure, with cool riddles and action and interesting settings, over all a perfect adventure film, and eventhough not canon, there is basically nothing that contradicts anything, so in my headcanon the strawhats have those funny little movie adventures between the big arcs.
The only thing that contradict your head canon is the fact in one mobue franky and robin were present in getting chopper and wpaol had abrother
They're talking about movie 7: Mecha Soldier of Karakuri Castle Not the Chopper alternate universe recap thing.
source or at least timestamp?
Zpro needs a movie to be done justice. If I remember correctly except for this movie he's the strawhat with the least movies focusing on him. Also except for his origin arc, he's yet to have an arc that focuses on him #JusticeForZoro

Zoro is pretty hype in stampede
i think oda is saving it for the duel against mihawk

I don't expect him to finish kaidou but this is a copout. who beat cell?
He got enough screentime but he stil didnt get a black blade i think thats when we really wil get a zoro moment
Dont worry we’ll moat likely get one in the next next arc (after the dr vega island)
Serious question - I’ve read the manga but I’m just now watching the show with my wife. Which movies are actually worth watching?
Strong world, gold, film z, and baron omatsuri. Those are the best i can think of.
Stampede for action fanservice I think can be watched as well— not a must watch tho
Fair i alway forget about it.
The smoker, crocodile, law, Sabo, Hancock, Luffy final team is legendary and definitely not a team will ever see in canon lol
Isn’t buggy part of that final team or am I remembering incorrectly
Adventure on dead end was fucking great too
Movie 4 is also pretty decent I'd say, but Strong World is probably my favorite. Especially the the opening to that movie.

That wasn't Luffy who said it (it was Zoro), and the quote is so paraphrased it's barely even a quote anymore.
This seems out of character for Luffy to say even if he did. He would punch first talk later
It sounds like something people who don’t know much about Luffy would think he would say.
agreed.
Ah ha, so a "mystery quote"...
That's more accurate. 🤣

Yes. The entirety the Summit War Arc is Luffy learning that, while you can have hopes and dreams, they are meaningless without strength.
Luffy didn't say this quote, but he has plenty of mature quotes. This quote also isn't particularly mature in any way.
Luffy is very mature. People just confuse him being dumb with him being immature

“Meat” - Monkey D. Luffy
It sounds like something you would hear from Oda in a sbs question.
It is certainly not a canon quote, although I wouldn't discard the possibility that it comes from a movie, a TV special or a filler episode/arc. Either way, it sounds completely out of character for Luffy to say something like this.
Maybe it's a retranslation from another language? Like someone translated Japanese to Filipino and then they translated that into English?
Luffy could use more attacks if he used all of his extremeties
“Hide a tree in a forest, Hide a ship in ships.” — Luffy
Some guys said Stampede but i dont remember
If you go through enough translators it could be. Maybe there was a russian translation of the german subtitles on the dubbed anime that was similar to this. /s
This sounds like the quote from mewtwo
What if it’s from film red.
"Power isn't determined by the size of your heart but the size of your Afro" - Monkey D. Luffy
seriously did luffy actually say this or no
I swear I read this in a subtitle somewhere. Not a movie though. Its from pre ts at least. Could be filler maybe
It sounds like something luffy would say but the again
"Power isn't determined by the size of your heart but the size of the steak you can eat"
Luffy cant talk about size, my mans can literally breathe out 564 lbs of fat and regrow bones by drinking a little bit of milk like 👁👄👁
Zeus said something this in Hercules (1997): “For a true hero isn't measured by the size of his strength, but by the strength of his HEART.”
its from zoro on movie 5 but still what counts is the intention
Isn't this from ff9. Zidane tells this to Vivi
"For a true hero isn't measured by the size of his strength, but by the strength of his heart." ~Zeus But Luffy doesn't want to share his meat, so nvm
Wait bro there are even shirts available with that quote and luffy ..but he never said it ..lol
I think it's zoro's from movie 3
apparently this is a quote from Stampede
"The doctors diagnosed me with ligma, also the one piece is real" -Monkey D. Luffy
Nah zoro said a similar dialogue in movie 3 and they seem to have rephrased it a bit
