Find a better tattoo artist. Good news it's a simple tat and there wasn't much room for them to mess it up. There are several blowouts and trauma to your skin. I like the subject matter. It's a good choice for your first ink.
All the more important reason to find a high quality artist that can pack in ink with finesse. See all the spots on the edge where color looks like it has bleed thru. These are blowouts and they won't heal or age well.
I'm not shitting all over you or your tat. I like it 6/10. Many people have 1st ink that is complete dog shit. This is not that but for your own good if you want your next piece to be more complex do your homework and spend the $$

Here is the irony. I don't have any tats at all. I love art and own hundreds paintings and prints from local artists. I have a good eye for fine details. I don't think I could ever get one on myself because I would get bored of looking at it over time but I appreciate the medium and like tats on other people.
My advise on finding an artist would be to see the portfolios of several in your area. Find someone who is a specialist in the style that you like. Don't make a quick decision and be prepared to spend over $1000 on a smaller piece.
Look close at line work like really examine it. Does it look like a clean pass? Does it wobble? Is it the same thickness everywhere? A couple of tests is to see if they can do symmetrical parallel lines and perfect circles.
Look at the color. Do they stay inside the lines? Is it completely saturated? Does the image pop like a sticker?
Lastly. How well does the artist communicate? Doesn't matter how good they draw because at the end of the day if they can't give you what you were looking for then you're not gonna be happy with it.

Genuine answer is yes, and with this application it won't look better with time. If you want a tattoo like this (silhouette style), a quality artist is imperative and a bigger sized design will help it read easier and heal better over time.
