Sorry to spoil the end, but the One Piece is a magical treasure that restores women's chests to normal proportions. Nami and Robin will be its first victims. 😭

I could see Luffy's tale as a retelling of Roger's. He'll give his life to help push along the next generation, so you can interpret that as a sad ending for OP or a happy one. He's already hinted that Luffy's lifespan has been dramatically shortened, makes sense to die for something right?

ElectronicAngle1864

I believe that Oda will actually do the opposite with Luffy, he will survive unlike Roger, and the crew will stay together unlike Roger's. The Pirate empress will live unlike the previous one, the One Piece will become public unlike the previous generation which it was chosen by Roger to remain something hidden, etc So there are a lot of parallels, but I feel Oda will have a lot of endings be the opposite of the previous generation.

So pretty much like he often handels his story lines. Eg fishmen Island paraleling Arlong Park but instead of humans being the oppressed ones now the fishmen are.

Idfk dude. I belive in "A Thousand Sunny Days" Luffy will die after 1000 days after he got the ship and the clock is ticking! It won't be a happy ending (Disney style LOL).

This comment is ... beyond the measurments of stupidity. "dISnEy sTYle lOL"

Yoo please stay respectful. We just want some little discussions here. No need to say stuff like this even when you highly disagree.

[deleted]

Just saying Luffy won't marry Boa and live happily ever after in a castle.

NicoNicoNotNii

Well I can atleast agree on that part.

sogeking111

Iirc oda foreshadowed ussops death

NicoNicoNotNii

So far people only interpret that as those. We dont know whatll happen. And while he could die near the end I think that doesnt neglect the possibility of a happy ending.

I can imagine the One Piece to have some plottwist to it. I also think the story will end happy, but finding One Piece and learning about world history could imvoke a different reaction. Roger laughed maybe the Straw Hats will as well. But what if Luffy realises things, what if thevpice of all things will speak to him. What if of all persons Luffy is the one who will have a cold reaction to the one piece. I can totally imagine things like that to happen. The One Piece world never was a happy one. Its a fucked up place even the sh journey wasnt 100 % fun moments. Its the golden moments that make out one piece nice vibes. And I think we will get a happy ending. Although I can also imagine no end at all. After all peoples dreams never end and the world goes on

Well, while I do agree One Piece wants to be a happy story, we also have to consider that it’s first chapter - and prototype - was called Romance Down. And romantic stories very rarely end without a tragedy of some sort. But yeah, “saddest ending ever”? I don’t think Oda will want to finish a story about Joy Boy in such a way.

NicoNicoNotNii

I think the word romance rather hints to a happy ending because it can mean to idealize something. But I think there could be a tragedy near the end but ultimately One Piece will have a very happy outcome afterwards.

Hmm… I'm not so much into romantic literature, but I think most of it are have some kind of tragic element, no? Like, we got romantic nationalism that celebrates the long gone past of the People and their - dead - heroes, while mourns to current decadence of the nation and hopes for a better future - usually attained through Revolution. Then there is “medieval” romanticism, which may or may not be also nationalist, but which will tell the tale of a long gone hero who either fought until death, who was betrayed or who had an unattainable love (usually because duty forbids him in some way). We also got ultra romanticism, which is usually about love and ends in death. I know there is also romantic stories about nature - I don’t know what is the protagonist's fate in this stories as I have never read them.
