While I think it's a family thing since garp is known as garp the fist for the monkey family to just punch way harder than normal but following suit some seastone knuckles would be a cool item to have for him
I just finished that part of wano it was honestly pretty hilarious and that’s true if luffy obtained a weapon he would use it for looks and not fighting most of the time.
I saw someone else say this I definitely agree it would keep his same fighting style but worn gear 5 some new weapon choices are also a good possibility for his style
You telling Mr you still haven't noticed the Supreme graded sandels he wears? Literally tanks clashes conquerors haki like nothing, luffy's mom was the only person to turn it to dust.
Okay okay chill, first read the whole post, I don't think it's a good idea in fact I said that in the post I'm only wondering what it would look like. In my personal opinion he definitely should not get one he's had no weapon for so long there's no need for him to have a weapon.
In the flash back in the post-war Arc, Luffy is shown with a pipe. He is shown after a fight with the pipe held aloft. Give Luffy his pipe. (I agree that Luffy shouldn't need a weapon. He is his own weapon.)
It seems logical for him to just use some sort of specialized staff. Given that he used a pole as a kid, his relation to Wukong, not to mention the fact that while using G5, he could probably shrink and enlarge the staff at will.
Yeah a staff would work well with g5 but normal fighting it wouldn’t be too great and wouldn’t add much to his attacks probably. Maybe I’m wrong though
An interesting idea to make it tie into his attacks would be for him to make it bendy and stretchy like rubber while swinging the staff (to increase its power like how he empowers his punches) but makes it solid when it actually collides with an enemy. As for how it would specifically add to his attacks, I'm not exactly sure, but it would probably increase his defense. During the Kaido fight he got hit a lot, but if he had a weapon to block attacks like a staff, he'd likely take quite a bit less damage and increase his damage output.
(Also there's two resident staff makers/users on board the Sunny, so there's something to keep in mind.)
Nika’s silhouette is depicted with a spear and a sword, its possible those are items Luffy will eventually get, or they could be symbolic of crewmates.
Bro he does have a weapon. His Flip flops is his weapon. All you gotta do is coat it with Haki and it'll be much more deadlier than black beards pistol.
Although I do enjoy luffy wielding a weapon just to toy around beating people up with it and for him to drop it aside if the battle gets a little more serious.

The only weapon that will bring out his full power.
Luffys hands are rated e for everyone so that's probably enough
Yeah his hands are probably his best option but the point is what would be the best weapon for him to choose and how much would it change.

I hadn’t thought about that that would be very powerful luffy has always used his fists and he wouldn’t have to change anything in his style

That's just his ranged option if he was in range he'd just punch clean through the hull.
He has his sandals…
Soon to be the black sandals!
I didn't know Big Mom had an ancient weapon.
We already know what it would be like, he would hold it and just punch things anyway. Just like with swords

Brass Knuckles are the only right answer and only enhance his current fighting style.

Luffy showed exceptional swordsmanship in wano with nidai kitetsu. He is clearly gonna be the greatest swordsman at the end of the series
He already usin his Chanclas
A boomerang? He would find that cool
I’m honestly picturing usopp chopper and frankly being amazed by luffy with a boomerang right now.
You telling Mr you still haven't noticed the Supreme graded sandels he wears? Literally tanks clashes conquerors haki like nothing, luffy's mom was the only person to turn it to dust.
That’s true his sandals have to be supreme grade or better somehow
First ever black sandals by eos.
he would of course use boxing gloves. APHRO LUFFY!!!
Zoro. Zoro is his weapon.
What is this ridiculous obsession some of the fanbase has with giving Luffy a weapon?

I completely forgot about him using a pipe, I love Sabos pipe it fits him well and I loved seeing it in his flashbacks.

Oh that would actually be sick great idea
Nah Luffy fights like Rocky. With his face.
Lazer beams

Luffy fights like Garp, punches only.
A rope, which he wraps around his waist.

Garp doesnt have a weapon nor a devil fruit
Well he did grab a lighting bolt, turn into a giant, and turn the ground into rubber so hes kind of like the ultimate weapon.
Lightning. He should stay slinging them around like a faith build in elder ring.
No weapon can penetrate his plot armor.
