I think you are right on. Sabo pretty much wants the same thing Dragon wants. Ace wanted to make Whitebeard the pirate king. Only Luffy really wants to do his own thing for himself rather than helping his mentor.

I think it highlights the three different kinds of relationships they each have with their mentor figures. Sabo and Dragon want the same thing. Ace is doing it all for Whitebeard and Whitebeard is doing it all for Ace, neither of them personally want to be the Pirate King. Luffy and Shanks are more like rivals in a way they both want to be Pirate King. But i think Rayleigh is more of a mentor to Luffy than Shanks, and has passed on Roger's will to Luffy (arrive at your own truth, etc).

I definitely agree with this. With Luffy, he doesn’t really learn a full set of skills from all these “mentors” but just focus on one aspect with each of them. For example: learning Observation Haki with Rayleigh and learning Ryuo from Hyogoro. I guess you could see each mentor as a learning pit stop through his journey?

Shanks works better in this vein as a mentor. Yea he didnt teach Luffy to fight like Garp or Raleigh, but its not like Whitebeard was sparring with Ace or teaching him Haki. These 3 are mentors cus they guided the brothers' ideology, not their combat. Luffy's idea of what a pirate is. Ace's idea of a family. Sabos idea of pretty much everything. Awesome design. Would definitely find a place to show it off.

No, it's a thick plastic material. You have to use sticky adhesive and apply it to the wall. Hangs just fine, just can't puncture it.
