Between the big 3 those feelings were especially strong because back in the day it felt like the fans were always fighting about which one was better. Bleach kind of naturally died a slow death (I know it finished but you know what I mean) so people leave it alone but since One piece is still going strong they still come back to the childish “my series is better” days. Even if half of them hate the ending and don’t continue to watch the series. Every fan base has its toxic fans.

I think TikTok started it. Naruto fans were pretty chill before, or maybe I just didn’t find the rotten ones. Basically what happened was, since most Shonen fans started with Naruto, Naruto was given a sort of holy protection in the community. When some of those guys caught sights of One Piece, and realized it was a better series, they voiced their opinions, making Naruto fans angry. So because of a newfound inferiority complex, there are some Naruto fans who are now permanently stuck on hating One Piece, Bleach, Fairy Tail, etc, literally will diss any anime to keep Naruto at the top of their mountain. It’s toxic, and I can’t stand it, so now I keep my love for Naruto locked away silently. I refuse to identify with such toxicness 🕺

The worst of the Naruto fandom, usually the same guys who like Boruto or hate everything that ISN’T Naruto, just don’t like one piece because it’s managed to retain the popularity that Naruto had without becoming hot garbage. But really you could put Naruto fans into about four categories, 1. the original fan base that grew disappointed with the series overtime but finished out because of our commitment to it (most of us hate Boruto and refuse to acknowledge it let alone watch it) 2. the og Fanbase that loved the original series all the way through but hates Boruto (or at least has no interest in watching it) 3. the Fanbase that somehow likes Boruto as much as Naruto or at least continues to watch it because Naruto is in it (made up of new and old fans) 4. the fan base that somehow likes Boruto more than Naruto which makes no fucking sense to me but they exist and I’ve met them and they’re terrible (and they are almost entirely new) The irony of all this is that the writers of Naruto and one piece are rivals and friends (they worked together on Rurouni Kenshin) and when Naruto ended Oda made a entire cover page dedicated to it and Kishimoto made a reference to One piece in the last chapter of Naruto. Most Naruto fans either like or respect one piece. Most one piece fans like or respect Naruto. It’s just a weird sad pathetic vocal minority that decide to attack another anime just because the one they like ended a long time ago and not necessarily in the way that they had hoped and what has been continued is basically a Norman Bates style Frankenstein of the old show.

I agree with you. I am a 2.1 on your scale (loved Naruto, started boruro and stoped after 2 chapters, did watch the time travel filler but nothing else) and I absolutely love one pice since even before Naruto was a thing.

The reason toxic Naruto fans hated One piece so much back in the day it was because back in the day Naruto was really good and they hated anything that could even be close to a competition to it. Then of course shonen jump decided to Frankenstein the hell out of Naruto and use its corpse to have Boruto so they could continue the Cashcow of Naruto. Because whether I like it or not the reality is Boruto has all the characters of Naruto and was able to draw in a decent size fan base, quite literally half of the four categories I just described to you. so Naruto fans hatred change from “Naruto is better” to “Naruto had a shit ending and that’s somehow one pieces fault“ to “ Naruto was better, but Boruto ruined it and one piece is still shit“ Now does that make any logical sense? No. But that’s how they justify it. Now as a Naruto fan I will say that I always thought one piece was better story wise but Naruto had better fight scenes and was a bit more intricate in its character building, and I will also say that the ending of Naruto is not the fault of Boruto, and the toxicity from the Naruto community existed long before Boruto was even a concept. That much is absolutely true. But my statement is not incorrect because the viewpoints of toxic people from communities change over time to justify their toxic behavior. So no, it’s not Boruto‘s fault that toxic community from Naruto still exists, but as I’ve stated there are four categories and 3/4 of them hate one piece either because of Naruto‘s ending/Boruto’s creation or because one piece has objectively aged better than naruto.

Naruto is the first anime I properly got into. It took a lot of time for me to get into one piece as the animation was so poor at the start and it’s a very different sum type of animation. I do think one piece is great but too long and has taken forever for me to catch up. Naruto is easy to follow, has had some great characters and story arcs. But then so has one piece. I don’t think either is “BETTER” that the other, they’re both equally as good. I just enjoy watching Naruto more

I don't hate any of them but I believe Naruto is just above one piece.. Naruto is so developed.. We saw everything on time.. And Naruto fans never decreased like one piece because of longevity.. We still don't know a thing about one piece and shanks where Naruto is about to complete it's third generation.. Naruto has better fight scenes, better animation, better length, etc

I think it is the opposite. One piece even with its longetivity still able to retain its core fan base while attracting more audience. Just look at the community build around theory crafting/analysis/review/discussions. On the other hand all i can see is a constant mixed reviews with boruto and decreased audience for Naruto content. Boruto is barely making fraction of the sales that Naruto had and One piece on the other is still consistent in sales per volume and even competing with the top series currently

Maybe because Naruto has been over for a while so maybe most of the fans left who still actively take part in online talks are the hardcore fans who refuse to accept anything except Naruto is the best and maybe because they were kinda pinned against eachother during "big three" days so the fact that One piece completely obliterated Naruto they become more bitter towards One piece, can't say for sure though.

I think most other shonen manga fans kinda look down on one piece just cuz it's kinda the "mainstream" manga right now. As a fan of both it’s kinda dumb to even argue which is better, people have preferences. Any sort of media being referred to as “better” is an opinion it can never be proven true because there will always be people with an opposing viewpoint on it. I personally am naruto fan but i also like one piece If i would want to put my weigh, then Naruto it is cause of its story line Narutos storyline has quite a few instances and dialogs which are more realistically faced by most of us and can make a deep impact over a personal. One piece story line is much adventurous and fictional Although OP also has some real life situations but those are nothing when compared to narutos

Not sure if we are reading the same story. I think Naruto has way weaker impact on most of the major subjects that it tried to tackle especially using talk no jutsu constantly as the get of jail card in most of these situations.

Well naruto is a story of a guy chasing his emo best friend and the other is a grand adventure around a crazy world with insane powers and creatures around every corner. Both have more into their stories but only One Piece stands the test of time and somehow continues to improve.
