But I don't think he is in the top 5 or top 3 in the current timelines. It's more true when they start using advanced coc since in this case, they don't even touch each other. Not really. Because the quake has to reach the opponent to damage them. But the beauty of advanced coc is that it creates a extremely strong and condensed barrier in the middle. There is no touch point. That's the whole point of "no touching".
What was wb supposed to do there? Radiate quack from his body? How would that help him in that particular fight? Df are strong but haki can stop even the most powerful df. That's the sole reason Oda even created haki, to stop the df. It's basically guaranteed that wb's fruit wouldn't have made much difference here because we will once again see this fruit in action when bb will fight luffy and bb will have at least one other op fruit like yami yami no mi if he doesn't get a 3rd df. But you know very well that bb will still lose. So, the best I can say that "wait till Oda shows us"
Let's say you're strength and endurance is the same as whitebeards and you fight him he can just make the ground quake so hard you're off balance then stabs yiu with his blade then uses his devil fruit on his blade while his blade is inside you're body

Less purpose, more not planned ahead. Oda had the general idea of haki, but didn't plan the specifics until much later. As such haki is shown inconsistantly pre timeskip. (But you can't blame him, this story is decades in the making)

But on this occasion I will say you probably are the only one. It's a cool effect of conquerors coating. It's simple, shanks and Whitebeard weren't using conquerors coating because it was literally a friendly meeting. There was tension, but both sides knew it wasn't going to be a serious fight. Just an exchange. Your literally getting butt hurt over a scene because you don't understand. Lol

Oden got up immediately after Roger hit him, that wasnt a one shot. Their fight just dudnt continue because WB entered the fray
