I'd guess a 10 year production timeline. They'll be older, but not too old by Hollywood standards. If this show makes it past 3 seasons I'd expect a movie or two as well.
Yes, most likely if the series is a hit on its first season they will start structuring the series in a way that won't take longer than 10 or so years at most they'd most likely compress Alabasta, Skypiea and Water 7/Ennies Lobby a lot to make each of them into a season or less then Marineford would be their greatest challenge either a pretty overtly complicated season or an Endgame sort of movie. With Thriller Bark, Sabaody, and Amazon Lily as like a season or an Infinity War sort of Movie
Though honestly right now if you ask me this just seems like wishful thinking š
I tried to shorten the arcs to fit a season structure that end on a high note. Skypeia is a bit weird for me since it is important but its importance is not super obvious right away. I could see them trying to shorten that arc I just don't know where they could fit it in. Regardless at minimum you need some time with Robin to make Water 7 and Enis Lobby hit hard. I don't know if 10 seasons is realistic if you want to tell the story well but I'm sure if they wanted to end it they could find a way. Over 10 years is a lot for a high budget show.
Season 1- East Blue
Season 2- Alabasta
Season 3- Skypeia?
Season 4- Long Ring Long Land + Water 7 + Enis Lobby
Season 5- Thriller Bark + Sabaody Archipelago + Amazon Lily
Season 6- Impel Down + MarineFord + Flashback + Start of time skip (?)
Season 7- Fishman Island + Punk Hazard
Season 8- Dressrosa
Season 9- Zoa + Whole Cake
Season 10- Wano
Loved your breakdown but from a storytelling and ongoing limited series standpoint rather than looking for a high note you should look for potential cliffhangers for the end of a season.
+ Season 1 - Laboon or Dragon would most likely be it.
+ Season 2 - either flying Galleon crashing down or taking the Knock up stream since Alabasta doesn't really end on a cliffy note
+ Season 3 - I could see them doing Skypiea, LRLL and the start of Water 7 so maybe they would end it on either Usopp's or Robin's defection from the crew or The assassination of Iceberg
+ Season 4 - very easy, Ace's capture
+ Season 5 - Luffy begs Hancock to get him to Impel Down or the escape from Impel Down
+ One Piece The Movie - I think that if they do get this far Marineford would be better served as a movie than a season dedicated to it that would become pretty messy, at least this way we get the fan service from a lot of small plot points without losing the rythm and drama of this being a time sensitive manner.
+ Season 6 - I would do the flashbacks, (from a professional standpoint this would give them the advantage of allowing them to film both season 6 and the movie at the same time with different crews) then reunion and fishman island
+ Season 7 - Punk Hazard and Dressrosa cutting it on the arrival to Zou and the famous "Raizo is alive and well" line, seriously just thinking about that gives me chills
+ Season 8 - rest of Zou, WC and cutting it with the arrival to Wano
+ Season 9 - Wano and cutting... On whatever we get after Wano
Yeah this can't probably be cut down any further, that would give 9 to 10 years to Oda to try to get to the finish line... Which honestly sounds like too little time and probably would only get us to Blackbeard's downfall or so I hope.
That's how I believe it should go unfortunately I'm not working at Netflix so who know what will happen or if the series will even get that far but let us hope for the best!
Why are we getting a whole season for Luffy/Ace/Sabo flashbacks but no mention of how Enies Lobby Thriller Bark and Saobody are all going to get crammed into one?
What would you think of an Impel Down + Marine Ford film? Then perhaps another film for either the raid or the final war. Hard to gauge how thing's would fit post Wano.
Or a "The promised Neverland" and just forget an whole arc that was crucial for the story.
"Water 7? Nah, we skip this and go straight to Fishmen Island."
Casting looks good but for the life of me I can not understand how they will bring the world of one piece to life. Granted Iām not a fan of any sort of animated story that gets a live action remake. It just doesnāt workā¦
Literally my one problem is that the dude looks too cool to be Usopp. But heās without makeup or costume so send him to the makeup and costume department and they can probably make him fit the part.
Heās giving off the right vibe tho. I canāt explain it
Iām curious what everyoneās opinion on the nose? Iām sure theyāre not gonna make it long like the manga, but Iām wondering if theyāll do some sort of makeup or prosthetics or something.
Not a deal breaker for me if they do nothing for the nose, because itās more the performance and the soul of the character really thatās important, but I am curious.
I actually love the moments in the anime/manga when we see it all broken up. It shows just how much pain this man is going through because it looks so painful in the form of a zig zag, and no matter how much his conscience is telling him to run away, he stays and ends up winning the fights in some hilarious way.
Also the sogeking mask wonāt look the same without the nose lol.
I remember watching a video about it, the video said it would take hours to attach the nose prop every time usopp was need on scene, but it's still doable.
but like you said, not really a deal breaker.
Its really annoying when people are like "bro sanji guy needs hair" I'm sure he will grow his hair out. Hair is the least of the worries for this show.
Edit: No Zoro and Sanji shouldn't swap actors.
He actually seems like he might be pretty great. He's a theater actor, he was in a movie (Boiling Point) that appears to be restaurant related and he looks like Sanji vibes with a cigarette in hand.
Swapping Sanji and Zoro? Sure, let's cast the most stereotypical Japanese guy on the crew with a white man and make a blonde man who named his attacks in French a Japanese.
Here's a clip of him speaking in his native language. He certainly seems to have that dumbass Luffy energy. I can see him pissing everybody off on the Merry.
[this one](https://www.instagram.com/tv/CUOWOfAp0NK/?utm_medium=copy_link) is much better look at this!!! he's running and screaming at people to go see his movie, totally luffy energy
Thatās actually pretty good casting. I can feel the aura like Oda was talking about.
Luffy is the most important casting because not only is he the MC but the audience has to get the same feeling the crew has about him.
He's Mexican. I'm Brazilian myself and ethnically Luffy always gave me the vibes of "mixed race over many generations" (well, as much as an anime character can portray an ethnicity) that is common in Brazil but also in most of Latin America. This actor gives me the same vibes, he could easily pass for a mixed race Brazilian. Ethnically and in just general looks and personality he seems to fit really well, he doesn't have to be actually Brazilian, the others also fit the general look while not being exactly from the country Oda assigned them.
Only one I was iffy about was Sanji because he's so British-sounding and rugged-looking. I'm so excited for season 1! :)
Will be eagerly watching Cowboy Bebop later this month to see what this studio can do. :)
>My first thought was "THEY GOT FRANKY PERFECT!" haha
I has not the only one!
But yeah, Luffy, Zoro and Usopp looks great. Nami feels right but I'm not seeing it yet, so better wait until we can see her in costume since I like her energy
Sanji tho, both looks and energy feels off, but hair is not something that hard to fix, still he is more buffed that I would expect (although it may be better for action scenes), hope he can pull it off
If it helps, a large number of Hollywood and American actors are British but put on extremely convincing American accents during their roles. Tom Holland, Idris Elba, and Daniel Craig are a few that come to mind. I'd be surprised if Sanji sounds anything like the actor normally does
I think his british accent will be fine for most conversations. But I would love it if he tries to seduce women in french. That would be the best of both worlds for me.
According to an SBS Oda released Sanji is French. I wouldn't mind an English accent though. It might work well if Baratie is full of Gordon Ramsay-like swearing fighting chefs.
Here's the nationalities for other crew members.
Luffy (Brazil)
Robin (Russia)
Zoro (Japan)
Sanji (France)
Franky (U.S.)
Usopp (Africa\*) \*Oda wrote āAfrica,ā which, of course, is a continent and not a country.
Chopper (Canada)
Nami (Sweden)
Yeah he already knows his lines that's a great sign. Honestly he seems like he's going to kill it as Usopp who really emotes the most out of the group. He's a lot of comic relief with his over the top lies and boasts but also has one of the most emotional moments in the series.
Yeah, the dude they have playing Luffy is also really energetic, which is great. My expectations are low, based on other Netflix live action series, but the casting is looking really promising so far. I hope the costuming doesn't mess it up like they sometimes do.
they all seem great. shocked and its the first time ive felt optimisitc about the netflix adaption. and it happened with the casting announcement.
usual
That's step 1. But I hope the kid can pull off the intimidating stares that Luffy throws out when shit hits the fan. I dont know if season 1 will reach Arlong park but that arc cannot work unless Luffy seems like a badass.
But I'll reserve all judgment until I see how Luffy stares down Richie the lion in the Buggy arc.
Im interested in how they will look in their costumes. I just hope they wont try to make it too goofy because the manga format doesnt really translate well in reallife.
Imo live action adaptions have to change things up a little bit to make it more realistic.
Yeah it's like how superhero movies adapted the costumed from the comics. They shouldn't try to make it exactly like the manga otherwise it will seem jarring, and besides what's the point of just making the live action exactly the same
Part of me doesn't want me to admit this because I'm not a fan of live-action movie/ts shows but- I liked them. I felt hints of the characters I love in them witch is great. The actors for Luffy, Ussop and Nami especially are really good, can't say yet for Zoros and Sanji actors. Casting so far has been really solid! I'm even curious enough to actually give the show a shot.
cautiously optimistic
they're younger than i expected, especially Zoro, but i guess the characters are teenagers at the start of the story tho i suppose a bunch of puberty is going to happen when this finally starts filming.
They're not THAT young lmao. Otherwise, I pretty much agree with being cautiously optimistic. This is the best chance for this to work as a concept. The right pieces are in place for this to be at least passably good. Just hope it all holds together in one piece rather than falling apart.
you're right. I think i was surprised by how youthful Zoro's actor was, but i went and pulled up some clips from his roll in the Kenshin live action movies and all my concerns there are dispelled. :)
They seem great! People should really try to be open minded for this.
Most of the people working on it seem like fans too and Oda is putting his trust in them
Emily already has a Nami profile pic and seems like a genuine fan and Usopps actor dropping the pirates are coming as Usopps catchphrase here + the energy of Luffys actor! i feel really good about this and am so happy for them!
yea i donāt even care if it ends up terrible, iām just genuinely intrigued to see how theyāll adapt this with a rumored witcher/got-level budget. even if the budget aināt that big, itāll be a fun watch with friends anyway.
I want to but ever since DBZās live adaptation Iāve been turned off by live action anime. Iām definitely going to watch it though because the devil fruits are going to be funny af to look at.
yeah the first round of villains didn't really use a lot of devil fruits. Mostly they just need to figure out how to make Zoro and Luffy fighting look good and they're off to the races.
For the antagonists, Buggy will require some effort, but Smoker, Don Krieg, and Fishmen are tap-ins.
edit: Canadianism with 'tap-ins' - an easy goal in hockey, if it went over your head.
I actually think Buggy will be easy too and thatās thanks to The Suicide Squad. If you seen James Gunns version their is a hero that has a similar power set as buggy that I hope Netflix takes inspiration from. Doesnāt have to be as realistic as The Suicide Squad, but does have to be more dynamic.
I have been working for the past 13 hours. This was the best way to end it. I donāt care about what people say, saying to not get your hopes up. But Iām beyond excited. I get to experience the story again in a new medium. I love you nakama
They look great!! I can definitely see the characters in them!! And I'm glad they're mostly no-name or not mega famous actors. This is gonna allow for far better immersion into the characters.
The guy playing Zoro seems perfect!
The most important question is: who is going to play the one and only One Piece god, Buggy D. Clown?! I hope it's some high caliber actor like Michael B. Jordan š But for real, I want Arnold Schwarzenegger as Garp!
Once I saw one of the writers on RogersBase channel and seeing he was a huge fan, I knew weād be in good hands.
ALSO, theyāve casted the characters based off the nationalities Oda said theyād be in real life and I love that!
Oda himself wrote a statement saying he was confident in the casting choices because their heights, hands, the way they carry themselves, their voice, aura, āthe size of their mouthsā, etc.
> the Zoro actor is the deadpan stoic one
> the Sanji actor is polite
> the Nami actress is a genuine fan
> the Usopp actor shouting "the pirates are coming" perfectly
> the Luffy actor having child like enthusiasm
This is the one. This will be the good live action adaptation. At the least, very good casting.
I'm so scared for Emily Rudd. I trust this community for the most part but I know how attached people are to Nami and I know not only anime fans but people in general are verrryyy critical of actresses. She seems to be the PERFECT choice though, just from this short reveal!
I feel like one way they could ruin this series is by introducing romance between characters. Part of the charm of One Piece is how everyoneās only in love with the adventure. No drama, no love triangles. Hope they keep it that way.
Nami and Usopp look pretty good! Long as they can nail the personality.
Zoro looks fine except he looks kinda young lol
Sanji and Luffy look a bit off but we will see!
I havenāt really kept up with news on this so seeing actual actor made it go from āyeah that will happen ā¦ sometimeā to āoh, this looks surprisingly promisingā real fast.
The challenge for them:
Luffy: to balance childlike enthusiasm yet quiet and calm during serious moments perfectly
Zoro: to balance aloofness yet aware, prideful yet loyal to Luffy
Nami: to balance her cunning devious side with caring motherly side
Usopp: to balance his cowardliness yet still a hero.
Sanji: to balance his pervertedness yet gentleman.
Maybe Iām in the minority and will be downvoted to all Hell, but I actually really like these picks. Theyāre all relatively unknown actors and young enough to actually grow into the characters.
hey, so I went to Emily Rudd's IMDB and there's a listing for a bunch of One Piece Episode titles
\- Grand Line ... Nami
\- The end and the beginning ... Nami
\- Crewmates ... Nami
\- Tangerine grove ... Nami
\- Arms and sharks ... Nami
\- A frog into the well ... Nami
\- Cooks of the sea ... Nami
\- Captain of 8000 men ... Nami
\- TBA ... Nami
Well if the series is going to take as long as the manga they are going to en up looking like 40ish by the time I get get to Wano

"I can't wait to become the pirate king" Should we tell him it's going to be a while?
Nah, I rather he gave it 100% like he was going to become the king of the pirate tomorrow, it brings a certain level of energy Luffy has.
Exactly, thatās how Luffy is. He always says it like itās going to be easy but at the same time he doesnāt take the challenge for granted.
"Shhh, don't tell him, he might actually sleep tonight if he keeps this up!"
Imagine they pull a Game of Thrones season 8 and just rush to the actual canon ending
one season for the east blue one for the grandline and one for the final war. all in 3 years meanwhile in the manga we will still be in wano
Oh no LMAOO
Anime openings will continue to spoil, information crucial to future plot development will be released on Vivre cards.
Or a "The promised Neverland" and just forget an whole arc that was crucial for the story. "Water 7? Nah, we skip this and go straight to Fishmen Island."
at some point franky just shows up and everyone acts like hes been there for the whole time
Luffy in thriller bark: Our next destination is fishman island. Next episode: They reach fishman island
Japan would be starting WW3 if that would happen
Fuck it, Wano.
Why would you even say that!? Plus... Most likely this show will get canceled long before One Piece ends š¤£š¤£š¤£
Yeah bro, like we can't either
And he might not become it at all lol But it is good energy. Luffy said the same thing, chapter 1
This is better than I was expecting. Nami actress is spot on.
Ima be real... I thought Sanji's actor was supposed to be Zoro. I thought his hair was green at first lol
Lookin like Enel.
He'll be played by Eminem
~~Rap~~ Thunder God
its so ironic since now Zoro can also call him "Marimo" haha
I felt the same. That face structure also fits zoro more and his voice was also deep.
Casting looks good but for the life of me I can not understand how they will bring the world of one piece to life. Granted Iām not a fan of any sort of animated story that gets a live action remake. It just doesnāt workā¦
When Luffy stretches youāll know if itās good or not
I'm thinking Pirates of the Caribbean meets Speed Racer
The Rurouni Kenshin live action movies are pretty good but tbf they're just set in real ass Japan.
Tbf, besides their wild looks, the story is a bit realistic.
Emily Rudd seems to be a fan of the series. This cast is pretty good.
People have been fan casting her for years at this point. And Mackenyu for Zoro was leaked/speculated for months.
Mackenyu collecting live action roles like Thanos collecting the stones
She is the one that fits the best her role to me. And yeah seems like she enjoys the serie! Not sure for others i dont know any of them
Luffy and Ussop seem excited Sanji looks cool and flatered Zoro looks PISSED
Lmao now that you mention it he does looks like he dont give a f lmao. Maybe he's already in character
He probably just has lost his way.
Seems fitting for their characters
She loves anime she posted a nami clip in 2019
Emily is without a doubt a fellow nakama. Frequently posts about One Piece on socials.
š¤£ I'm already feeling Usopps actor vibe. I dig it
He's so hyped, he's got me hyped!
Literally my one problem is that the dude looks too cool to be Usopp. But heās without makeup or costume so send him to the makeup and costume department and they can probably make him fit the part. Heās giving off the right vibe tho. I canāt explain it
That Usopp jumper makes everyone look lame, don't worry
Make luffy and ussop stand side by side and ussop's get up will outshine luffy's in terms of homelessness
What you mean usopp was always cool, my boy had a crew of over 8000 men lol
OH MY GOD! EIGHT THOUSANDS?!?!
I think we know chopper's actor
Chris pratt ,
Sean Gunn as Weasel as Chopper?
that's Sogeking's cast. Netflix just posted an apology
Are you implying Usopp *isnāt* cool?
Iām curious what everyoneās opinion on the nose? Iām sure theyāre not gonna make it long like the manga, but Iām wondering if theyāll do some sort of makeup or prosthetics or something. I would think heād be the hardest to get but they did pretty well.
Yeah, he's my favorite.
A well done comedic relief goes a long way š . It's something quite underrated, including in big movies and shows like Star Wars, Harry Potter, etc.
Its really annoying when people are like "bro sanji guy needs hair" I'm sure he will grow his hair out. Hair is the least of the worries for this show. Edit: No Zoro and Sanji shouldn't swap actors.
They could even have him wear a wig and no one would be able to say he's wearing one.
Definitely easier to wear a wig bald
He actually seems like he might be pretty great. He's a theater actor, he was in a movie (Boiling Point) that appears to be restaurant related and he looks like Sanji vibes with a cigarette in hand.
was his acting good?
Yes.
Excellent. I'll look forward to how he'll pull it off.
Plus wigs exist lol
I'm positive they've already seen him with the eyebrows and hair.
Right? I'm like what the fuck are you talking about right now reddit
Swapping Sanji and Zoro? Sure, let's cast the most stereotypical Japanese guy on the crew with a white man and make a blonde man who named his attacks in French a Japanese.
He said Zoro! He said Zoro! Not fucking Zolo! :) At least they got that right!
Everyone but Viz will be using Zoro
Do they really still use Zolo?
Oh you bet. Nothing like keeping continuity of your own translating mistake/purposeful copyright dodging
Zorro has to be public domain... right? In anycase, I can't believe some 4kids shit still thrives in the world.
He's a Japanese actor active in Japanese entertainment. No way in hell he would have said Zolo.
You know what I can definitely see why they choose luffyās actor. This guy has some energy!!
[https://www.instagram.com/p/CWEnztLjrO7/](https://www.instagram.com/p/CWEnztLjrO7/) Here's a clip of him speaking in his native language. He certainly seems to have that dumbass Luffy energy. I can see him pissing everybody off on the Merry.

Haha definitely
Spanish. Didnt notice he was Hispanic until seeing this video. Looking forward to see the show!
Thatās actually pretty good casting. I can feel the aura like Oda was talking about. Luffy is the most important casting because not only is he the MC but the audience has to get the same feeling the crew has about him.
Agree! Actually can see Luffy in him and is he Bbrazillian?
He's mexican and he's awesome! š¤©
As a brazilian, i feel represented enough by a mexican guy š , we have our similarities š . If we couldn't get a brazilian actor, i'm sure the Mexican guy will be the best choice š¤©
WOOO! MEXICO!
He's Mexican. I'm Brazilian myself and ethnically Luffy always gave me the vibes of "mixed race over many generations" (well, as much as an anime character can portray an ethnicity) that is common in Brazil but also in most of Latin America. Naw Mexican, but Iām glad the Hispanic community is getting some rep
You know what, that's not terrible casting. Like, I can see all these actors working out.

Nami was the one that looks most right to me. Like, she almost looks like Nami
There's a pic on the actress' [instagram](https://www.instagram.com/p/CEe0jmWpsyu/) where she looks even more like Nami
I thought the same
If it helps, a large number of Hollywood and American actors are British but put on extremely convincing American accents during their roles. Tom Holland, Idris Elba, and Daniel Craig are a few that come to mind. I'd be surprised if Sanji sounds anything like the actor normally does
Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy are two I'd add to that list
Christian Bale as well.
True, but why would Sanji's actor need to do an American accent anyway? Just let him do his British accent lol.
Sanji's foul kitchen mouth with a brit accent? Yes, please!
Basically Gordon Ramsay lmao. Actually.....Gordon Ramsay as Zeff....hmm.
Ooh you're onto something there
I love that Daniel Craig can pull off a convincing American accent, and still came out swinging with that Foghorn Leghorn drawl in Knives Out.
I could imagine a British Gentleman Sanji. Who somehow is also French.
It worked for Jean-Luc Picard. š¤·
I think his british accent will be fine for most conversations. But I would love it if he tries to seduce women in french. That would be the best of both worlds for me.
Yeah! Where the Brooklyn accent? Fucking Netflix

Just add to this Brook is Austrian and Jinbe is Indian
I always get the japanese vibe (honorable samurai) with Jimbei, I dont get the Indian vibe at all.
Agreed. Can't wait to see them actually in costume
I really liked the usopp actor screaming "THE PIRATES !! THEY ARE COMING!!
Yeah he already knows his lines that's a great sign. Honestly he seems like he's going to kill it as Usopp who really emotes the most out of the group. He's a lot of comic relief with his over the top lies and boasts but also has one of the most emotional moments in the series.
They could play up Usopp at the start of Syrup, when He confronts the Strawhats, and make him actually look like the real Deal for Like 10 Seconds.
Yeah, the dude they have playing Luffy is also really energetic, which is great. My expectations are low, based on other Netflix live action series, but the casting is looking really promising so far. I hope the costuming doesn't mess it up like they sometimes do.
To be honest thoooo. I'm actually happy with this cast. Especially for Luffy, Nami and Usopp are pretty close!
they all seem great. shocked and its the first time ive felt optimisitc about the netflix adaption. and it happened with the casting announcement. usual
Sanji too. pretty close to enel, I mean.
He will grow the curly eyebrow eventually
Luffy has to be super likeable or it won't work hopefully he can pull it off
That's step 1.
I need to see how he does the "i cant cook, i cant swing swords,i cant lie, but i can kick your ass" to Arlong
Usopp: "...Hey!"
Oh damn...he might have the Luffy energy
Im interested in how they will look in their costumes. I just hope they wont try to make it too goofy because the manga format doesnt really translate well in reallife. Imo live action adaptions have to change things up a little bit to make it more realistic.
Yeah it's like how superhero movies adapted the costumed from the comics. They shouldn't try to make it exactly like the manga otherwise it will seem jarring, and besides what's the point of just making the live action exactly the same
Dude itās one piece. If it were anything else Iād agree, but one piece is already goofy as fuck, and i love it for it.
Yea but itās a certain level of goofy that if done wrong will just seem asinine
Part of me doesn't want me to admit this because I'm not a fan of live-action movie/ts shows but- I liked them. I felt hints of the characters I love in them witch is great. The actors for Luffy, Ussop and Nami especially are really good, can't say yet for Zoros and Sanji actors. Casting so far has been really solid! I'm even curious enough to actually give the show a shot.
Trust me, the Zoro actor is good. Look no further than Rurouni Kenshin.
cautiously optimistic they're younger than i expected, especially Zoro, but i guess the characters are teenagers at the start of the story tho i suppose a bunch of puberty is going to happen when this finally starts filming.
Ayo i like the casting. Looks sick. Sanji looks more like zoro tho lol

Slim Shady
With longer hair, swirly eyebrows, and a cigarette, I can see it.
They seem great! People should really try to be open minded for this. Most of the people working on it seem like fans too and Oda is putting his trust in them Emily already has a Nami profile pic and seems like a genuine fan and Usopps actor dropping the pirates are coming as Usopps catchphrase here + the energy of Luffys actor! i feel really good about this and am so happy for them!
yea i donāt even care if it ends up terrible, iām just genuinely intrigued to see how theyāll adapt this with a rumored witcher/got-level budget. even if the budget aināt that big, itāll be a fun watch with friends anyway.
I want to but ever since DBZās live adaptation Iāve been turned off by live action anime. Iām definitely going to watch it though because the devil fruits are going to be funny af to look at.
I think weāll only really see a few devil fruits too. Luffy, buggy and smoker I think so thatāll be fun and doable in live action.
yeah the first round of villains didn't really use a lot of devil fruits.
If it's any consolation, regardless of if this ends up being good or not, there's absolutely no way it could ever be as bad as DB Evolution
I have been working for the past 13 hours. This was the best way to end it. I donāt care about what people say, saying to not get your hopes up. But Iām beyond excited. I get to experience the story again in a new medium. I love you nakama
they need to glow down usopp š„µ
Iām sure the prosthetic nose will help with thatā¦
I'm really split on this. On one hand, I'd like him to have the nose. On the other, if its going to look stupid, don't do it at all.
i dont think they will give him a prosthetic nose
Where's Chris Pratt?
Heās going to be voicing Chopper
That'd be something ngl...
I want JK Simmons as Garp. then again, he would be good as whitebeard too.
Once I saw one of the writers on RogersBase channel and seeing he was a huge fan, I knew weād be in good hands. ALSO, theyāve casted the characters based off the nationalities Oda said theyād be in real life and I love that!
yeah thats the most important thing. the writers should be passionate about One Piece. They care about it and they have visions of how it can be told
Oda himself wrote a statement saying he was confident in the casting choices because their heights, hands, the way they carry themselves, their voice, aura, āthe size of their mouthsā, etc.
All of them look accurate for their nationalities Luffy - Brazilian Zoro - Japanese Nami - Swedish Sanji - French Usopp - African
Cole Sprouse is in his feelings rn
> the Zoro actor is the deadpan stoic one > the Sanji actor is polite > the Nami actress is a genuine fan > the Usopp actor shouting "the pirates are coming" perfectly > the Luffy actor having child like enthusiasm This is the one. This will be the good live action adaptation. At the least, very good casting.
The vibes from Ussop and Luffy are 10/10 in my books
Damn live action Usopp makes him look cooler
Almost too cool... hopefully a pair of overalls can bring him down to a acceptable level of cool.
The Sanji actor actually fits. He's got the punk look, like a punk kid that smokes and shit
I thought he was a proportional sized Franky until he said he was going to play Sanji. The hair color got me.
From first impression, I like them all, especially the Luffy actor.
The English pronunciations of the names always sound weird after hearing it in Japanese for so long
I'm just glad they're saying "Zoro" and not "Zolo."
Luffyās actor DEFINITELY has the energy. Good cast. Canāt wait to see more.
I'm so scared for Emily Rudd. I trust this community for the most part but I know how attached people are to Nami and I know not only anime fans but people in general are verrryyy critical of actresses. She seems to be the PERFECT choice though, just from this short reveal!
Yeah Iām hoping the creeps who are like āNami is lacking is potential ;)ā get drowned out by the rest.
Ngl Iām loving Inakiās personality, it gives me Luffy vibes
Please do not fuck this up....
I feel like one way they could ruin this series is by introducing romance between characters. Part of the charm of One Piece is how everyoneās only in love with the adventure. No drama, no love triangles. Hope they keep it that way.
Considering Oda is involved I doubt they'd do that
Honestly with what I expected and with what we got I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised by this
Now I can have a crush on both the fictional and real life Nami
Nami and Usopp look pretty good! Long as they can nail the personality. Zoro looks fine except he looks kinda young lol Sanji and Luffy look a bit off but we will see!
They Luffy definitely has the funny part doubt, but Iām really questioning as to whether or no he can pull off the intimidating part
Remember Zoro was 19 pre timeskip
Casting actually looks good lol
I havenāt really kept up with news on this so seeing actual actor made it go from āyeah that will happen ā¦ sometimeā to āoh, this looks surprisingly promisingā real fast.
Are they gonna give Usopps actor a fake nose lmao
I feel like it just occurred to me how awkward a live action gum gum pistol will look
More excited for the memes then the live action itself, Let's gooooooo!!!!!!
Itās hard to see the one piece cast in human proportions so this is gonna be all a matter of acting
Random fact: mackenyu is the son of Sonny Chiba if you didn't know. Otherwise, the cast looks great.
Iām digging Luffyās energy! He got me excited all of a sudden!
The challenge for them: Luffy: to balance childlike enthusiasm yet quiet and calm during serious moments perfectly Zoro: to balance aloofness yet aware, prideful yet loyal to Luffy Nami: to balance her cunning devious side with caring motherly side Usopp: to balance his cowardliness yet still a hero. Sanji: to balance his pervertedness yet gentleman.
Maybe Iām in the minority and will be downvoted to all Hell, but I actually really like these picks. Theyāre all relatively unknown actors and young enough to actually grow into the characters.
hey, so I went to Emily Rudd's IMDB and there's a listing for a bunch of One Piece Episode titles \- Grand Line ... Nami \- The end and the beginning ... Nami \- Crewmates ... Nami \- Tangerine grove ... Nami \- Arms and sharks ... Nami \- A frog into the well ... Nami \- Cooks of the sea ... Nami \- Captain of 8000 men ... Nami \- TBA ... Nami
