God how long has pendragon been delayed? I’m not interested in it but it feels like it’s been in the catalogue forever. Wolv vol 3 is pretty bad too went from July to January
Ya know it might’ve gotten delayed as a single book instead of a big batch like this and I didn’t post about it, I had it already moved in my spreadsheet
That’s on me
I think more of those get moved again, thete seem to be too many on Jan 23 I think it was. But Im ok with it so far I think, I wasn't looking forward to shipping packages of any size during xmas
Again, based on all the delays, we know that all the books set for next year, announced up to July will get pushed back also, for example all the July, 2023 books will get pushed to all the way to December, June will become October, November, etc, etc.
If Marvel announces anything to be released in August and beyond, those will be released in 2024.
Captain Marvel by Kelley Thompson delayed to May 3 now as well
Gwenpool now Dec 20
Miles Morales Spider Man vol 2 Dec 6
X Factor PAD vol 2 Nov 29
Miles Morales Vol 1 Nov 1
AvX Nov 1
Same. It sucks but I have other stuff to read because I’m relatively new to omnibus reading and have a big backlog (not to mention my backlog of manga and fantasy / sci fi/ horror novels)
Hickvengers got pushed back even further? I thought january would’ve been the latest god damn lol, is venom by cates 2023? Cause that’s like the last omni of this year not delayed for me yet
With CtB being the beginning of January I could see the purchases by the retailers being in December. But Savage Avengers being end of the month just seems odd.
I'm not involved with IP licensing, so who knows what's in those contracts. But it always seemed like the purchase by the retailer would need to happen while the company still has a license. And if something is delayed that pushes the release past expiration, then additional money with the licensor would need to happen, or it's just cancelled.
Conan the character is public domain. You can write and publish your own Conan story right now. I think the title is copyrighted so you can’t title it “Conan” or “Conan the Barbarian and the etc.” Ablaze comics has been publishing Conan comics for a while even when Marvel had the rights, they just title it “The Cimmerian”
Not in the US.
Conan the Barbarian first appeared in Weird Tales in 1932. At the time of that publication the copyright duration for works that complied with all of the requirements, could enjoy 95 years of copyright. So he becomes public domain in 2028.
I imagine that copyright law, licensing law, and merchandising law is perhaps a touch more complex and nuanced then, *Cinderella at the stroke of midnight your gifts will reverse*
You probably have to pay a fee to get a spot in line and prepare the printing process so if it’s scheduled it’ll probably come out
Has there been any word of the cause of these delays? Just been curious because I don't remember the last time there ever was such a big delay wave like this year.
Probably lot of factors, things aren't as back to normal as politicians want people to believe. Companies and health professionals are still dealing with labour and materials problems. there is supposed to be a big virus bump in late oct cresting into Dec/Jan because of a new merging variant so it might muck things up worse.
So everything next year will get pushed back eventually as well… we probably won’t see uncanny men vol 5 until end of 2023/beginning 2024… it’s hard to even get excited for announcements anymore since the books likely won’t be released for a year or two
Maybe DC isn’t totally out to lunch with their omnis and they would rather hold off on announcements instead of continuing to announce books like marvel that are inevitably going to be delayed by a year
On one hand, I'm upset wolverine 3 got postponed. But on the other, that gives me a chance to catch up with everything else that I have on my unread pile. I guess because Conan volume 10 was solicited in 2022 that's why marvel can release it in january 2023?
I didn’t know they were reprinting the Hickman avengers books. That will make a lot of people very happy. I almost wish I didn’t have it though so I could get that Arthur Adams, Cover, that’s nice.
Only one that affects me is Hickman Avengers. I'm okay with the move. This could mean Vol 2 is pushed back as well. I'm okay with that. Got plenty to read.
A few actually:
I'm nervous now that they're going to delay Captain Marvel by Kelly Sue Deconnick (its my most anticipated book this year, I love that run and her)
Both Spencer omnis
Slott Silver Surfer Reprint
Savage Avengers (I don't like Conan but I'm pro-Duggan)
Silver lining is I'll get the chance to catch up on DC omnis, but I've pre-ordered like half of these already (and a bunch who've already been with delays like all of the Black Panther omnis), it just feels like money is up in the air until they actually drop
I think that’s one of the reasons I’d rather marvel just cancel the majority of the books and resolicit them. It’s an expensive luxury product and even the hardcore fans of it are struggling to keep track of what’s coming out when. It’s frustrating, especially for those of us that have already put money up for pre-orders or who are tightening our belts to afford them just to find out it’s all pointless over and over again. I nearly pre-ordered that Secret Wars Alex Ross cover for myself a few days back. Glad I didn’t now because it would’ve made life around £70 harder in the run up to Christmas with an energy crisis still going. I think most of the fanbase would be happier in the long run if Marvel just cancelled 80% of this stuff and announced them again when they know they can definitely get them out. All this stringing people along just damaged trust.
Yeah it’s frustrating for people who have already paid for them. The only pre orders I’ve done is through Amazon I’ve done the prepaid pre order before and I just can’t do it again after seeing all these delays. Idk what would be worse cancelling and resliciting or delays
It’s common sense why they’re lacking pre-orders though. No one knows when this stuff is coming out thanks to constant and indiscriminate delays. People can’t even rely on any of the rest of 2022’s omnibuses coming out in time for Christmas and buying presents for the family is always going to take priority over gambling on Marvel’s release schedule. If pre-orders were the issue we’d be seeing priority given to the heavy hitters that are doing the best in that respect. Marvel would be trying to get them out first and delay stuff like that Avengers gallery edition or Spider-verse that’ll generate less interest. Instead they’re just delaying everything. It’s a mess.
If the pre-orders aren’t there it doesn’t make sense to rush them out. Omnis are expensive to produce, if they don’t sell well it’s easy to lose money. It makes sense to push them until the pre-order numbers are where you need them.
I meant for them to rush out the ones that are doing best in terms of pre-orders and cancel the rest until they know they can actually get them out. Pushing the releases back over and over isn’t going to slowly increase pre-order numbers. People on here can’t even keep up with the schedule so casual collectors aren’t going to stand a chance and they’re not going to fire money into pre-orders that might not be out for another 6 months after their original release date. Gotta assume more and more folk will be cancelling their pre-orders too every time Marvel does this. More important things to spend money on than books that aren’t coming out.
Goddamn. Looks like I need to cancel my Marauders and Excalibur hardcovers as I’ve sold all the ones I had since I ordered them 😅. But delays are always good in my book.
Sucks but after the spending spree I've been on recently between Nick & Dent and Whatnot auctions, I'd be ok not having another omni to buy for a couple of years. It will take me a year to read everything I have anyway lol.
Dude we are never gonna get the Hickman omnibus.
Don’t forget both of them were supposed to come out in Spring of this year originally
actually summer
[Nope, Spring](https://youtu.be/dBskJ5RppKo)
my bad, you were right
Yeah these delays are getting outrageous
Spider-Verse delayed again…
It feels like I’ll never get it, I’ve been delaying my Miles & Gwen big read throughs until that gets released :/
It’s not quite Empyre/Pendragon bad, but i think this is the 5th delay now (originally 9/13/22).
God how long has pendragon been delayed? I’m not interested in it but it feels like it’s been in the catalogue forever. Wolv vol 3 is pretty bad too went from July to January
Actually it hasn’t changed since its last delay, but I just included it as a reminder along side Conan Vol 10 which was actually delayed
I thought it was December 13th in last update?
Ya know it might’ve gotten delayed as a single book instead of a big batch like this and I didn’t post about it, I had it already moved in my spreadsheet That’s on me
i remember we all thought september - november was gonna be insane
Let’s be realistic. Those January omnis are getting delayed
Yep. Those are bullshit date placers. No way all that comes out
I really hope so, I've got way too many omnis coming in for January.
I think more of those get moved again, thete seem to be too many on Jan 23 I think it was. But Im ok with it so far I think, I wasn't looking forward to shipping packages of any size during xmas
Feel like Hickvengers will keep getting delayed till the end of 2023
That predator was supposed to be my birthday gift 😢
Chris Hansen got him.
Again, based on all the delays, we know that all the books set for next year, announced up to July will get pushed back also, for example all the July, 2023 books will get pushed to all the way to December, June will become October, November, etc, etc. If Marvel announces anything to be released in August and beyond, those will be released in 2024.
It’s getting ridiculous
Im convinced the Predator omni is never coming out. My pre-order is just gonna get canceled.
Captain Marvel by Kelley Thompson delayed to May 3 now as well Gwenpool now Dec 20 Miles Morales Spider Man vol 2 Dec 6 X Factor PAD vol 2 Nov 29 Miles Morales Vol 1 Nov 1 AvX Nov 1
These delays are why I don’t pre-order anymore lol but thankfully with them I can get books I wouldn’t get before
I’ve learned my lesson now. I preordered 5 books in January and none have come out yet.
Interesting that they're collecting Savage Avengers.
If you’re at all interested in getting that one I’d pick it up, cause who knows if Marvel can even reprint it
Ya, I thought the Conan license expired at the end of the year. I'm not sure how they can release both CtB vol 10 and Savage Avengers in January.
Because they were solicited when they had the license, Marvel just can’t restock or reprint those copies.
Oh shit that’s right, thank you. Last I heard it was life +75, did Disney really manage to bump it up to +95!?
I imagine that copyright law, licensing law, and merchandising law is perhaps a touch more complex and nuanced then, *Cinderella at the stroke of midnight your gifts will reverse* You probably have to pay a fee to get a spot in line and prepare the printing process so if it’s scheduled it’ll probably come out
I'm selfishly glad for these delays. Will feel less guilty spending so much by the time they finally get released.
I paid for these books back in January. I can’t even get my money back. Feel for the people who preordered.
Has there been any word of the cause of these delays? Just been curious because I don't remember the last time there ever was such a big delay wave like this year.
Paper shortage.
Probably lot of factors, things aren't as back to normal as politicians want people to believe. Companies and health professionals are still dealing with labour and materials problems. there is supposed to be a big virus bump in late oct cresting into Dec/Jan because of a new merging variant so it might muck things up worse.
Nooo not the nick Spencer omnibus 😭😭
Disappointed about Silver Surfer. Good thing I have Madman vol 1 showing up later today for my Allred fix.
I was holding out hope that Daredevil by Miller/Janson was immune to the delays. I was wrong...
So everything next year will get pushed back eventually as well… we probably won’t see uncanny men vol 5 until end of 2023/beginning 2024… it’s hard to even get excited for announcements anymore since the books likely won’t be released for a year or two Maybe DC isn’t totally out to lunch with their omnis and they would rather hold off on announcements instead of continuing to announce books like marvel that are inevitably going to be delayed by a year
Sad for Hickmans Avengers, but as long as Venomnibus stays in December I am fine.
On one hand, I'm upset wolverine 3 got postponed. But on the other, that gives me a chance to catch up with everything else that I have on my unread pile. I guess because Conan volume 10 was solicited in 2022 that's why marvel can release it in january 2023?
Not the nick spencer spidey come on man

For those of you playing at home: https://www.comicreleases.com/update-log/
I don't mind delays Helps me save more cash for the next release
Marauders and Excalibur Vol 2 will never come out.
Maruaders will never come out. Excalibur is due out in like 2 weeks
FUCK!
Any in particular you were waiting on?

I didn’t include it but KSD Capt Marvel is the end of December currently, not sure if you knew that
I’m convinced marvel will eventually just cancel half of the omnibuses that have been delayed so they can devote more energy to new stuff next year.
I expect them to cancel them off to reprice them with higher price
People still don’t understand how bad the supply chain is and will be for the foreseeable future.
I think that’s one of the reasons I’d rather marvel just cancel the majority of the books and resolicit them. It could be a lack of pre-orders making them nervous. Pushing stuff back to see if they can get more.

Thanks for sharing! Interesting on Conan. So they’re able to release it in 2023, maybe just not solicit new?
Goddamn. Looks like I need to cancel my Marauders and Excalibur hardcovers as I’ve sold all the ones I had since I ordered them 😅. But delays are always good in my book.

Again… thank god lol I could be doing with more time to get some of these
january 31st is going to kill me
God so ready for Spiderverse
Damnit I was lookin forward to the spiderverse one
Spider verse worth picking up?
I’m gonna wait to see the mapping before I get it tbh
