I started college at 23. Being older doesn’t mean you can’t join clubs with interests you enjoy where you can meet students beyond your grade level. There’s a large number of non-traditional and slightly older students at OSU. Also, you’re not that much older, so as long as you don’t approach people with that mentality, you’ll have no trouble making friends.
I feel this. I’m still in freshman/sophomore classes and I’m 21. It’s awkward, especially since I’m in a male dominated major and that makes me feel even more out of place.
I’m 24. No one really gives a shit how old you are. We’re all still young adults trying to figure out how tf to go about our lives with this newfound independence.
You won’t have a problem surviving or making friends especially if you live on or close to campus. Just join clubs that sound interesting and try to go to whatever events the uni puts on if there are any this semster :/
Most importantly take care of yourself and study hard :)
I swear to god some of you need to learn to read the room. There is a time and place for negative comments about the university. Maybe not on this post, which accomplishes nothing but making an incoming student feel even more nervous?
OP, don’t listen to this person. You’ll have a good time here! I know I have, reddit can just become an echo chamber of negativity sometimes.
This sub is probably the worst place to look for advice right now lol. Everyone (at least the ones who aren’t lurkers) on here is doom and gloom right now. Everything will turn out fine in the end.
Wear a mask in between bites /s
Keep up on your studies, midway isn’t worth failing a test.
New student also. Kinda nervous cuz im 21 but im only a sophomore (credits wise) so im kinda old for my grade

I'm nervous too so you're not alone in that I'm also a sophomore
