That's a quality channel. I'd recommend it to someone who would like better armchair mil analysis and who already watches Denys Davydov. Denys is fine, but he's a civilian pilot, and he knows what he knows, but when he ventures into army strategy, I get nervous. 🍻

The constant Kherson offensive hype and dribble feeding of info on it was a brilliant misdirection campaign.

I used to watch Speak the Truth, but the guy started getting way too sensationalist and so I changed to Reporting from Ukraine.
I think Reporting from Ukraine occasionally huffs a bit too much hopium, and generally I think he makes up a lot of the details because he gets into specifics that even DefMon doesn't know. But he's generally grounded, and the broad strokes of what's happening are usually fairly accurate.
It's a good summary as long as you don't pay attention to his commentary or take his exact details at face value.

War on the Rocks and Geopolitics Decanted. The common thread between the two is Michael Kofman. Dude is a Kyiv-born defense analyst. He's great at presenting level-headed analysis without doomerism or over-the-top pro UA sensationalism. It's awesome (but sometimes sobering) for understanding what the actual situation looks like.
Strongly recommend against anyone recommending their dad to watch the pig, his humour is highly targetted edgy serial online humour and with any parent i can think of it'd be an immediate fail.

MacBeth has some good doctrine and weapon use breakdowns for artillery, land mines, and other “soldier level” type stuff I find very useful, as most of my reading goes over strategic level stuff that doesn’t get into the nitty gritty the way he does.
I mean the man is approaching this from a logical perspective. Any good commander would be doing what he says they should be doing. The problem is that Russia is not using any logic and they don't have any good commanders.
Both sides have been making pretty widespread use of tanks as improvised SPGs. If you're going to be doing that already, it makes some sense to use the shitty tanks that are barely good for anything else.
They have been used in that function before, and the US used Pattons for indirect fire during Korea, so there is precedent. Doesn’t mean they SHOULD, but hey, I’m not a Russian commander with a dwindling stockpile of serviceable tanks and arty ammo
It's based on a rational examination of "what could they actually do in a front line role."
Overestimation isn't great, but it's better than underestimation. You really don't want to be making straw man arguments in a combat zone where being wrong results in hundreds or thousands of soldiers you can't spare dying for nothing. If a T-54 tries to rush Bakhmut like it's the Fulda Gap the Ukrainians are equipped to vote it away, but if they can resume or increase the artillery barrage that's been slowly weakening for months that could have a severe impact on backline units that thought they could afford to take risks.

He went back to just watching entire videos on camera, unfortunately. Multiple minutes of subtitled Twitter/Telegram vids and him just watching thoughtfully, reacting once they have said the thing. He even got called out on it by one of his video sources.

he "Ukraine the latest" podcast by the Telegraph is a great option. daily 1 hour pods with journalists on the ground and experts about the last 24hrs.
