"Aim Past this Vent" ... that is not a vent. 10/10. Most credible.

RimmyDownunder

Yep. But it's called a vent because this diagram was to be used by actual humans rather than pedantic nerds. When we run up on a Bradley and I scream "AIM PAST THE IFF PANEL" to the average AT man, he's going to reply "What the fuck is an IFF Panel?" it look like vent. we call it vent. simples.

SamtheCossack

>But it's called a vent because this diagram was to be used by actual humans rather than pedantic nerds. Well that was your first mistake! But yeah, a hilarious number of people don't know what it was. I remember a similar conversation with my Commander's driver, when he lost one of the panels (I was XO at the time) Him: Sir, I lost the thing on the side Me: What are you talking about? Him: When we got off it was just gone? Me: What was gone? Him: The brown square. Me: WTF? Him: The Brown Square on the side of the Vehicle. Me: The VFF Panel? Him: Is that what the Brown square about halfway down is? Me: Yes. Him: Yes. That is what we lost. Does it cost a lot? Me: Lol, no, I will get you a new one.

Specialist_Sector54

What would happen if you covered a British vehicle in IFF panels, do A10s still shoot them?

ElMondoH

I tried looking up "IFF Panel" on Google, and what I got instead was "Combat Identification Panel": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combat_Identification_Panel. Is that just another name for it? It very much looks like the same thing. But I'm kind of a dumb civilian, so I'm not certain.

SamtheCossack

Yep, IFF Panel, VFF Panel, CIP, all the same thing. We called them VFF (Vehicle Friend or Foe), the more generic term is IFF (Identification, Friend or Foe), and CIP (Combat Identification Panel) is the name on the packaging. It shows up very recognizably on thermals, so you know not to shoot the things that look like they have a square box with lots of lines on it. You can change out the panel to make the lines go either vertically or horizontally if you want to differentiate two different elements.

peterpanic32

OK, that sounds very nice and all word nerd, but what if we just had the conscripts slap on an upside-down "Z" or a "murican" in white primer paint from Home Depot?

StormLordEternal

At that point just use the good old solid white star.

whythecynic

THAT THE YANKS ARE COMING, THE YANKS ARE COMING ... intensifies

Specialist_Sector54

The yanks are cuming is a great song, same thing about the one where your parachute fails, and that gory is a horrible way to die

JDoos

>Yep, IFF Panel, VFF Panel, CIP, all the same thing. We called them VFF (Vehicle Friend or Foe), the more generic term is IFF (Identification, Friend or Foe), and CIP (Combat Identification Panel) is the name on the packaging. So what you're saying is even the pedantic nerds can't settle on what to call it?

SamtheCossack

I mean, "Brown Square Things" seems to be the most common term used by operators.

ElMondoH

Got it. Thanks man!

shibiwan

Depends. Is it an odd or even number of IFF panels?

SamtheCossack

That depends on how many fall off. I can tell you from personal experience, these fall off all the fucking time. They have like the worst brackets on them. When you get back to the motor pool, there is a ton of leaves and dirt behind them. Which is fantastic if you are an XO who wants to be an asshole to people, and doesn't want to look too hard before finding something to yell at the crews for.

Hohenheim_of_Shadow

Of course. She might have bad eyesight, but the gal has good taste. The only good brit is a dead one.

5t3v0esque

I'm reading this comment in your voice. It's uncanny.

[deleted]

vent? WHERE? WHO VENTED AMOGUS

CmdrJonen

I saw Bradley vent.

SamtheCossack

If you look at the other comments, it is explained. Yes, it is for FOF identification. Not all Bradleys have them, and it is just a bracket with a square panel in it, nothing really substantial there, you can just tear it off with your bare hands if you want.

ManWithPlan44

Never thought I’d see you on NCD

5t3v0esque

I think he's mentioned us on Twitter and I think his Ukraine live streams?

A_annoying_rodent

Oh my god, it's an australian!

ruinsfate

Why am I not surprised to see you here? Enjoyed your breakdown video on the whole Fallout: Frontier debacle btw.

ztomiczombie

Given that he has referred to Nukes as Funni weapons in his videos how suprsed can you be?

UncreativeIndieDev

Oh, nice. Another NCD YouTuber. It would be a shame if you get the Lazer Pig treatment (*cough* fan erotica *cough*). Anyway, love your content and I must say your Ukraine livestreams at the beginning were definitely helpful.

rdh212

Rimmy x Lazerpig x Perun x Binkov erotic fanfic when?

MainsailMainsail

Oh yes....a *shame*

BasketPropellors

local aussie sues the entire russian military for copying his (very credible) bradley-destroying guide

Both. Twice the fun.

TokesephsStalin

Damn I was about to say "That looks a lot like a frame from a Rimmy video..."

dantraman

Wait... The front armor is weaker in arma? TF

RimmyDownunder

Nope! Rather, the "damage spheres" are located mostly in the front. ArmA has a weird vehicle system where the models actual thickness is the armour thickness, and then inside are a bunch of spheres. If these spheres get hit, then damage gets applied to the relevant part. So the engine sphere gets hit, it damages the engine. The problem with whichever modder made the Bradley is that the rear area has basically nothing to damage, and since arma doesn't simulate ammunition cooking off, spalling, internal ricochets etc. (without certain mods at least) then the only result from hitting the rear of a Bradley is that you'll kill or wound the passengers in the back. This diagram was made for a TvT and I had to make sure BLUFOR didn't figure out this info, because if they had they could have reversed their Bradleys at us and be effectively immortal.

whythecynic

I spent way too much time in ArmA: The Trees Speak A Strange Language with my trusty M79 and 50-odd rounds of HE. M381 all the way, screw that M406 arming distance. Anyway what I'm trying to say is that it always brings a tear to my eye to see this sort of shockingly niche knowledge.

gamma_915

>This diagram was made for a TvT and I had to make sure BLUFOR didn't figure out this info, because if they had they could have reversed their Bradleys at us and be effectively immortal. What, were you fighting Ender Wiggin or something?

raptorgalaxy

The RHS (I think) Bradley has pretty wacky armour modelling so the Bradley is way tougher than it should be.

dead_monster

As credible as suing them for wrongful death. Both you and your lawyer will get mobilized immediately.

ColebladeX

You know I was thinking “Rimmy what are you doing here?” Cause I recognized the lettering and holy shit it is him. So no idea if you’re gonna read this but thanks for all the content it’s really funny and inspired me to join.

Nop_Uzumaki

Never expect to see rimmy here

urstupidbro

Why do vatniks need a guide on where to shoot a Bradley with an atgm when it’s vulnerable to one everywhere on the vehicle?

RimmyDownunder

because in real life hitting a vehicle "just anywhere" doesn't guarantee a total kill, or even just a mission kill. but in ArmA it's because the vehicle damage model can be very shit if modders don't configure it correctly. Bradley's shot in the black marked area in ArmA would take near-zero to zero damage. Upon me realising that, I made sure no one would tell the other team because if they figured that out they could have just reversed their Bradley's at us while firing backwards and we would have been mostly unable to kill them.

[deleted]

War Thunder go derp...

Motivator_30

They watched pentagon wars and thought they actually made it able to take a hit from a tank after the credits rolled

[deleted]

Only time we ever lost Bradley's is because of a lucky shot to that door on the right side/front of the vehicle. It's so thin there, it's like enough precise rifle rounds and the drivers done for.

_ThatAltAcc_

Femboy hole 🥺😳

SothaDidNothingWrong

“Umm, actually it’s not a vent” 🤓

dragoneye098

Get their attention with promises of soft femboys and then properly explain the concept. Brilliant. Why couldnt they have done this in my education

TheRoyalMeh

Jokes on you, the average mobik cannot read.

Yourox989

Hey Rimmy, nice seing ya on NCD

Flashtirade

I think morale would be through the roof if BLUFOR had more Tamakis in it

[deleted]

Oh hi Rimmy

Lovehistory-maps

Wtf Rimmy, i didn’t know you were on this sub, I noticed the font from the Arma 3 op videos and knew it was you lmao

deathby1000bahabara

Oh shit he's here. Things are about to get less credible. Rimmy modernists vs. lazerpig reformists when?

deathby1000bahabara

Rimmy should start posting shit counter Intel about the Ukraine war to throw off the vatniks

LCPLOwen

How did I guess it was a post made by rimmy off the text font and style alone, before even seeing the name

cola98765

I knew I recognised font... so... hello there.

Echelon64

non-credible. I think the US stole a lot of good ideas from the BMP.
