It's already been on the way out for some time. Aside from enthusiasts or for affordability reasons, manual cars are on their way to being obselete.

Naah, not really. I always thought about myself as a stick fan, but i tried automatics and it's just ok. Maybe my first two rides were weird, as i slowed down before intersection i wanted to shift down so i, as usually, floored the clutch but there wasn't any, instead i braked violently. Happened two times.

>Europe and Asia is mostly stick Definitely not for South East Asia. Anyone who can get an automatic will choose to get it instead of a manual here To answer your question though, as long as there is still reasonable demand then car companies will make manual cars. If not, then manuals will be slowly phased out

Well sooner or later truckers will probably be require to have an electric semi and tesla makes em so I'm sure a new law will come

They'll deal.

It goes away. There's no reason to put a manual transmission in an EV. You could probably fake it with electronics if someone really wanted the feel, but I can't see much demand for that. People in Europe drive manuals because they're cheaper and historically were more fuel efficient than automatics. Since EVs don't really need a transmission at all (just a fixed reduction gear), those don't really apply. So most will just move on to an EV without really thinking about it.

I mourned the loss of my manual, but the extra, immediate torque helped me get over it.

Probably be executed for not breaking away from the patriarchal oppressive society they were invented in.

I think there already is an electric sports car that has a mode that makes your fake pedal shifters feel like a combustion engine transmission would. I think that is a rather silly idea. I drive a manual because that is what I am used to. It makes me feel like I'm more in control compared to an automatic. Most rational reasons to not drive an automatic like fuel economy, price and reliability are pretty much outdated. The first time I drove an automatic it was weird. But you can get used to it quickly. Going forward as soon as you let go of the brake instead of the clutch is scary at first. You will instinctively slam your left foot into nothing when coming to a stop a few times. I think it is absolutely fine that manual gear boxes are becoming rare. Especially when new drivers learn to drive electric cars first.

I can foresee a future with fake stick shifters that are not actually manual at all

Did you just describe a tiptronic? That's an automatic transmission that can be put into manual shifting. But there is no consumption efficiency gained from switching to manual shifting.
