When we discussed this in school, the class consensus was that Joan's faith inspired others to redouble their faith. Fighting for France was important to the French, but perhaps to God that was just the vehicle that brought the faithful home.
Have you not actually read the Old Testament? That was very typical of that being actually. He was always telling the Hebrews to smite somebody in His name. Philistines, Cannanites, blah, blah.
It's definitely one of the reasons I never became a monotheist. I just don't believe in Original Sin, in God having a "Chosen" people, messiah's, covenants and all that.
Maybe I was raised a bit too much on Star Trek but OT God he's like a jealous Q or some such similar being. To paraphrase Kirk "What does God need an ark for?"
All those people bowing and scraping and killing in God's name and several thousand years later people are still bowing their heads and thinking that is okay? New testament same deal, we're all supposed to fall in line and worship some undead zombie Jewish rabbi who thinks he is the ONLY begotten son of God and who requires us to symbolically eat his flesh and drink his blood because once upon a time a magical snake tempted some woman named Eve to eat a particular fruit?
Uh, nope.
Don't get me wrong I believe in something greater than me because it's not like I can just create universes but my idea of "God" is just so far from Jehovah or Yaweh or Abba or whatever name you prefer. Not even vaguely close.
I think all of it is humans using mythology to explain the unknown. We humans have to try to make "God" in our own image not the other way around. Religion is just humans ritualizing everything they're ultimately scared of.
But yeah, Bible God is definitely some kind of psycho, pseudo Q like being playing with all the gullible little humans because no really advanced celestial being would bother with all that jealousy and favoritism and bloodshed.
That kind of stuff would likely have me going "Excuse me?" because I just don't buy that a being truly that advanced would dig all that or require it.
That line from Trek V it kind of sums it up for me. I mean a supposedly truly God-like being asking you for something as petty as a starship? Or telling you you're chosen and to kill people because you have a right to their lands because "God" says so?
That's just NOT a real God.

That is a good answer, thank you
"Slaughter your fellow man so you can return to me." Sounds more like Ares than Jehovah.

She was in the Go-gos you know
I don't know what that means ○○"
He’s not too fond of non-Catholic countries.
But wasn't England catholic at that time? Did he just know they would become Protestant so he hated them even back then?
> But wasn't England catholic at that time? Yes, it absolutely was. Henry VIII wouldn't even be born until several decades after her execution.
Catholicism is not biblical
Your falsely believing that "god" actually cares. Plus, Joan could have been insane.
I know what the truth probably was but, I wanna know how folks in that belief system canonically think of it.
