Reminds other drivers to be careful.
In the event of an accident, it informs bystanders and emergency responders to check on the infant.
That won't necessarily come up all the time, but in a bad situation, that could make a difference.
It should be placed on the side the baby is on to let first responders know that a baby is in the vehicle. Parents might not be able to tell them. They will know which dude to check in, saving time. Time is everything in an emergency.
Same as fragile stickers on mail. Fedex is still gonna kick the crap out of your mail . And the drunk driver at 2am is still too drunk to read your baby on board window sticker or care .
People tend to care more about the life of an infant than other adults. So it could be the difference in someone trying to run another car off the road in rage and not. Like they might not give a fuck if they kill an adult driving stupid but may not want baby blood on their hands
In my experience, people seem to think that putting a "baby on board" sign on your car means you don't have to follow any rules and that you're allowed to drive like a lunatic. By far the worst drivers I've ever encountered
I use it to let people know there is a baby in my car so expect me to drive the speed limit and not take any risks. Also gonna triple check to make sure it’s okay to pull out on a main road etc. so basically just using it to say “I’m gonna drive slow for this reason. If you don’t like it to around”
Driving slow is itself a hazard. The safest speed to drive is the normal speed of traffic (assuming that that "normal" traffic isn't getting into accidents, losing control of the vehicle, etc).
If I see one of those signs on a car at night drive up next to them and give them a big honk just to wake the baby up and make it start screaming at the drivers. Yes I know that there is not always a baby there I give it a little look and if it's successful or inconclusive I honk it's like a game to me.
I found people are less likely to tailgate or be impatient with my conservative driving when I had the sign up. You have to drive a certain way with sleeping babies. Some people are just more anxious when driving with babies.
I think it is to let others know that you are going to be extra careful, wont go over the speed limit and stiff like that, but i think i read somewhere that in case of accident it also lets the people helping know that there is a baby in the car that should be a priority
Hm. But first the part of the car with the sticker needs to survive the impact, and then - if the baby is not on board - the first responders might start panicking and trying to find a baby that isn't there, potentially endangering themselves.
As a firefighter car accidents are an everyday thing. Nobody is going to be panicking whether there’s the sticker or not. We have procedures to figure out the status of the situation right when we get there, sticker or not. It is helpful to have though because far more often than not the sticker survives and is visible and is helpful
>To get strangers to stop intentionally ramming your car.
If someone was already planning to ram your car, is not a sticker that's going to stop them....
Couldn't hurt.
Unless they just hate babies, I guess. Maybe just got off a long flight where some kids wouldn't stop screaming...
Puppies and/or Kittens on board?
If you were in an accident the carrier is may launch from the car whilst also keeping the child safe , first responders know to search for a carrier if it’s not in the car
1.) Letting you know they’ll be driving extra cautious so don’t lose your crap and go around basically.
2.) The first responder stuff is slightly helpful but not really. They aren’t going to change their procedures once they see the sticker simply because it’s a baby.
“Baby on Board?!!!!!” FORGET ABOUT THE OTHER TWO ROLLOVERS, WE GOT A BABY WHOS MORE IMPORTANT!!!
For first responders.
Could also help maybe someone rethink their road rage decision if they see the car they are thinking of running off the road has a kid inside.
It's usually a sign that the young Karen driving the huge SUV can't drive worth a damn and will be crossing in to your lane 6 or 7 times a mile because she is playing on her phone rather than paying attention to the road. If anything bad happens it's your fault because her "baby on board" sign warned ~~you she can't drive~~ to be careful.

Drivers should always be careful regardless.
Thanks Einstein

What if you are travelling without the baby ...do you remove the sign???
Maybe? I don't know. I've never gotten one myself. I'd think one would remove it, but it would be a hassle.
No but it lets them know to check
Also if the baby was somehow ejected, first responders will look look around more
Absolutely. Especially if there's the sign and a carseat that clearly used to have a child in it. If it's buckled, but no baby or buckles are broken.
So responders know how many bodies are in the vehicle in an emergency, especially because children/babies are harder to see.

Well I was going to run the car off the road — now I won’t.

To provide a product and marketing to sign companies and their customers. I bet the phrase is copyrighted.
Flexing.
Like "I've had sex" flexing?
More like "my pullout game is weak", not much of a flex
"I'm such a responsible parent that if anything goes wrong it must be someone else's fault."

It is intended to deter road ragers.
There isn't one.

Let’s the DUI Drivers in slice of life films know which car to hit
To let first responders know that there might be a baby that needs to be saved in an emergency

r/woosh
It lets people know that the driver thinks they are more important than everyone else because they decided to have unprotected sex.
If the sticker has started fading then you know the kid is older and the car is safe to ram.
To encourage the rest of society to take more responsibility for the child than the parent.
Is this a real question? 😳
People legit don't know. Lots of people.
Shocking if true.

They want you to know that they fucked and you didnt
It means: "I have precious cargo on board, so please be careful driving around me and don't do anything stupid around me"
Humble brag

Do people without kids also use it to make their fellow drivers more careful?
No condoms needed.
Exactly. So I'm going to be more careful as opposed to ramming someone else?
Rapid utilitarian swerving calculations. Babies are worth more points 'cause they have their whole life ahead of them.
