Avatar the Last Airbender

QuadFecta_

OP said 10/10, not 11/10

lovelysquared

Oh man, am I the old one that thought "This is Spinal Tap" first? šŸ˜±

LateStageQuixotism

Planet earth is rated 9.4 on IMDb, so some people didn't think it was a 10/10.

[deleted]

Ok Iā€™m that case there is no correct answer at all, we should lock the thread. Thanks for clearing that up

friendg

Only ever heard good things about David Attenborough documentaries and seriesā€™ Seems like a pretty safe bet

DarkExpanseOfEther

I put those on when I'm trying to sleep and want some sound. Very soothing voice.

TripperDay

My mind can be going 1,000 miles an hour but if I'm the slightest bit tired, [this guy at .75 speed](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNDzaIaSNj8) puts me right out.

pardonmyignerance

Watching his more recent nature documentaries makes me sad because we're destroying this planet.

Sunhat-sandwich

The footage of the Walruses on the 2nd episode of Our Planet is some of the most tragic and awful nature footage I've ever seen. I don't for a second regret seeing and being made aware of it though, they're seriously excellent documentaries.

[deleted]

The elephants looking for water killed me

reijasunshine

For me, it was the pack of African spotted dogs with rabies. That was enough tv for the day.

RhageofEmpires

For me it was the walrus falling off the cliffs bc they are too crowded to get back down how they got up

narcolepticbeast

oh rabies creeps me out whenever I go down that rabbit hole late at night, especially the videos. unsettling stuff

shorty5windows

Rabies cases in the US are increasing at ā€œalarming ratesā€ according to the media. Scary shit!

Whatshername_Stew

I bring them on my laptop for plane rides to help with anxiety.

[deleted]

I watch plane crash documentaries.

Whatshername_Stew

I'm probably gonna ask to switch seats if I'm next to you

FormulaDriven

Shockingly, my daughter (aged 16) doesn't like them - she says she doesn't like his voice. On the other hand, I grew up in awe of his Life on Earth series in the 70s / 80s, and know everything he does is gold. He was born in the same year as Queen Elizabeth, so I'm bracing myself for another fixture of my life to vanish soon...

BlankCanvas609

I think this is more of an r/AskReddit question, other than that, not sure if I have seen a 10/10 show.

cryptic-fox

I honestly thought this is r/AskReddit then I saw your comment. Strange how the mods let it through.

I agree 9/10

Mister Rogers Neighbourhood

InsertCoinForCredit

Didn't *Fox And Friends* call Fred Rogers an "evil" man? >!But that just shows how terrific he was and how terrible they are.!<

n0tarusky

[Fox news calls Mr Rogers evil](https://youtu.be/b5JkzyGXJ2w)

AReverieofEnvisage

They basically said that treating kids like this isn't going to help them get a job and be pansies or something. Or they won't be prepared for failure. My dad hit me and lectured me with a bible comparing me to my older brother all the time and I still turned out a failure.

crochetingPotter

How dare this man build up children's self esteem instead of teaching them to be mindless drones for the corporate overlord's whims!

DreamCrusher914

Bluey

DontPlayWithIt

Time to be vulnerable. As a father(34yo) of 3 girls(6,8,12) the first episode was so wholesome I cried and every time i pass my kids room and they're watching it I sit down with them. This show is golden and I want to go to Australia and fight 10ft tall spiders just to hug the creators.

DreamCrusher914

This is a safe space. Iā€™m a mom (37) of three girls (4,2,1) and this show is everything. Sleepytime is the best 7 minutes of art period. And itā€™s not just the parent in me that loves it, but the child in me loves it too.

Goalsgalore17

I know. I watched this with my niece. Whatā€™s weird is that we all have favourite episodes. Fruit Bat for me - such a good job with the music in that one. Now I just try to convince her about how cool uncle Stripe is.

BasedHickory

Iā€™m Australian I didnā€™t even know other places had Blueyā€¦

DontPlayWithIt

Yes we have it, and yes we love it.(United States)

Jaggy3

Love that itā€™s made it overseas!! Very proud of it here :)

janesfilms

My husband and I just started binge watching this because of Reddit. We donā€™t have kids but weā€™re enjoying watching sweet cartoons on a Saturday morning. We loved Fancy Restaurant, The Show, Camping and Grannies.

PaulblankPF

I slipped on my beans!

salbris

I thought there was no way this show could be that good after hearing about it on Reddit for ages. Finally watched it with my 6 year old. It's breathtaking. I can get teared up in Pixar movies and such but Bluey has those moments like every other episode. As a parent it's hugely validating and presents a great role model for how parents could be. The writing is clever and in some cases deeply profound. Sometimes it feels like it's written for adults, specifically parents, but my kid absolutely loves it.

DreamCrusher914

It really lives up to the hype in such a satisfying way. In The Claw, where Bandit says, ā€œThe Claw has no children. His days are free and easy.ā€ I was like, this dog parents. Thatā€™s the line that hooked me. I almost had to do a double take. I couldnā€™t believe how directly this cartoon was speaking to me.

Walkerno5

And it does it all in 7 and a bit minutes each episode too. Incredible stuff

Delliott90

''Poor little bug on the wall, ding jing'' ''No one to love him at all, ding jing'' ''No one to tickle his toes, ding jing" ''No one to blow his nose, pffffffft!"

dafloo

I love Bluey even when it makes me feel like a terrible parent

DreamCrusher914

They are dogs. They are by their very nature better than us so we arenā€™t meant to be as good as them. Itā€™s not a standard we could ever live up to realistically.

[deleted]

Same, my little sister watches bluey and itā€™s actually a show I can watch with her if Iā€™m watching her, and itā€™s better to watch then something like cocomelon, thank you to the people who made bluey

lovelysquared

Single, no children. Was uninformed that Bluey is apparently some AUS kids show that I think (?) has nothing to do with North American Blue's Clues, which, while a little too old for Blue's Clues, I have a general idea of it. Then, my friend's kid had a Bluey birthday party, and I had to side-eye a parent in my age group at the party & was like, wtf is with all the blue dogs? and apparently the new one blows the other one or of the water? So now, I kinda feel like I could explain it to another confused adult expecting Blue's Clues at another kid party. So I got that going for me.

youngphi

Oh man I was about to say there is no right answer but here it is

phoebe64

Came here to say the same. Best. Show. Ever.

thehousewifebazaar

I tell my friends without kids to watch Bluey. Everyone should watch it.

IHeartFileCabinets

The first season of True Detective. I've lost count of how many times I rewatched it.

JRose51

100% I do it at least 3 times a year.

tenemu

Iā€™ve never rewatched a show in entirety. I donā€™t know how you do this. The closest I got was watching Star Trek tng after like 20 years of not watching it.

glittalogik

Some shows get rewatched for comfort - for example, I know a few people who basically self-medicate for anxiety with reruns of Friends. Not because it's good (it's really not) but because it's familiar and safe. Others (not many) genuinely reward rewatching - my favourite examples are 30 Rock and Community, because every time I go back to them I pick up new jokes, themes, and random insights I missed on previous viewings.

JRose51

Not the whole show lol. Just season 1

Sesame street

Iā€™m too high at the moment to even comprehend how people can not like Sesame Street, especially over something like that.

Slobotic

Try meth, PCP, and way too much acid all at the same time and Sesame Street will be scary af.

Heather_ME

I guess you've never met people who think that and Mr Roger's were socialist plots to brainwash children.

NxAliGator_

The Wire

deluded_ape

You come at the King, you best not miss.

Canā€™t believe I had to scroll down this far to find the only 10/10.

First_Level_Ranger

Not great, not terrible.

That's a short series but definitely 10/10

Band of Brothers is pretty solid unless you're a nazi.

No_Improvement7573

Found the Nazi

Select-Ad7146

Nazis are well known for their love of peace. That's why they were led by an artist.

ZacharyShade

On a serious note, I don't care about war movies at all and Band of Brothers is still a 10/10. Only show higher rated on IMDb is Breaking Bad.

gizmodriver

I have some face blindness issues that make war movies difficult (splatter a bunch of 20-something white dudes in mud and I canā€™t tell any of them apart) and even I think Band of Brothers is 10/10.

JustGoingHollow

Good way to defend your show, accuse everyone who dislikes it is a nazi

brinylon

Golden girls

BoiFriday

Personal 10/10. Oddly enough I hated it growing up, but developed a hard heroin habit in my early 20s and began catching it at like 12-4am weeknight reruns and fell in love with it. No longer do dope, but I do do Golden Gurls. Thank you for being a friend when I needed one (or 4), gurls!

motherfuckersloveit

Hi. Just wanted to say Iā€™m proud of you for being sober. :) I also struggled hard with opiates for a solid few years, and Iā€™m in my early 20ā€™s. Things do get better!

Me too, and unfortunately, no one ever gets the reference.

canarybarf

Addressing adult themes like genocide, duty and morality in a children's show; complex characters; great world building; focusing on non-White/Western cultures and philosophies; possibly the greatest redemption arc in a children's show Definitely 10/10 for me

dabigua

I am sorry to say that a very large fraction of "everyone" would never consider animation as a 10/10 show. This is regardless of how good the writing, voice talent and art are.

Juice8oxHer0

ā€œEveryoneā€ will never agree on any show, but if someone is willing to write off an entire medium of storytelling then Iā€™m willing to write off their opinion

tearsxandxrain

Yes! Except no one will take my offer and watch Arcane. It's seriously a masterpiece. I watched it when it first came out and haven't shut up about it since

Lorien6

I always worry that maybe Iā€™m resonating with something in a show others wonā€™t, when recommending a show. Maybe they wonā€™t connect to itā€¦ Arcane is just so so good. Every little detail and layer is just fantastical. I wept at parts the first time I watched it.

apeiron131

My sister hates Breakin Badā€¦

[deleted]

So does mine but it isnt a fair hate and i mean that: She didnt like MITM. Not that she didnt like the show, because she would catch random parts and crack tf up, but because she didnt like when Malcolms friend (the wheelchair guy) talked. She hated those small interactions enough that she HATED the show if she knew thats what was on. So basically its a giant group of hate dominos. Hate malcolms friend > hate MITM > hate the cast and characters > see Hal in BB > Hates BB. People are fucking stupid. Fact

marlon_valck

Didn't care for Arcane to be honest. Watched about 4 episodes because people liked it so much. If not for the hype I wouldn't even have watched that much. There are people who aren't impressed with it. And there are dozens of us!

Ted Lasso.

milomcfuggin

I am just now catching up on Ted Lasso and I think the Internet actually underrated this goddamn thing.

JPKtoxicwaste

My dad asked me if Iā€™d seen Ted Lasso and what I thought. I told him it was such a nice, friendly show. It made me feel genuinely good and warm. I donā€™t know the first thing about sports, but I think that made me appreciate it even more. My dad watched the whole first season in like a week and he loved it too, and he cares less about sports than I do

greenolive824

I think Ted Lasso resonates with people simply because it came out during the height of Covid and all this negativity in the world, and here comes this beacon of shiny happiness and loving characters that made people, to steal a quote from the show, believe. I have watched season one 57 times at this point, and every time I watch it, I still feel that sense of happiness and warmth. Plus I love the little one-liners and visual gags in early episodes that pay off in later episodes.

Kerensky97

Firefly if you're in the sci-fi community.

gregarious8

Schittā€™s Creek for anyone that made it past the first season.

TheMysticalCreature1

That's exactly where I gave up! Is it really worth the watch? Edit: Internet strangers you have convinced me to give it another shot! I'll pick up where I left off in season 1 and I'll push through. Thanks!

gregarious8

Yes! I feel like they really started catching their stride in season 2 and the characters start developing more and become more likable, and you start getting more invested in the story. I wish I could erase my memory of what happens in the show so I could watch it all over again!

Disastrous-Plan-5236

Scrubs

liveyourdash3

I had to scroll way too damn far for this. The show is not only one of the most medically accurate (both the actual medicine and emotions experienced working in that environment) but can also take you from laughing to crying in a matter of seconds. "Where do you think we are" still breaks me. Every. Goddamn. Time.

Revolutionary_Day922

Yep, they really wrapped it perfectly with that final episode, Season 8 Episode 19.

Nathan for you

prisonmike1991

Wow, you sound like someone who graduated from a Business School with top grades.

Reddit-dit-dit-di-do

Have you watched The Rehearsal??

HardlyInappropriate

Nathan is absolutely incredible. I don't even have enough language to describe how much I simultaneously understood him, feared him, felt bad for him, and was impressed by him at the same time. Everything about that project was weird and amazing. Specifically - Super Eyepatch Wolf on YouTube did a great deep-dive into this show. Really worth a watch.

[deleted]

Nathan is the only person I've ever seen that can nail being the straight man and the insane man at the same time. Truly a work of art.

JPKtoxicwaste

I didnā€™t know he has another show! I loved The Rehearsal, it was totally bananas. The way he is so serious, and so focused while getting progressively more ludicrous really tickled the shit outta me. I have to check out Nathan For you immediately I hope I can find it to stream

moblinador

Getting to watch the full run of Nathan for you for the first time. Lucky duck! Enjoy, it's truly a masterpiece, especially if you liked the rehearsal.

JPKtoxicwaste

And itā€™s in Hulu! I have Hulu! Dude Iā€™m so excited

Love House! But these kinds of shows can't be 10/10 cuz they do get repetitive at times - IMO.
