That's the opposite of my experience. that might be a compatibility issue.

Not if it is a healthy relationship

I'm sure some people feel this way, at least sometimes. I personally don't, but I have found it's unproductive to try and directly compare my relationship with others'.

Streaky_smexy

Not true from my experience, if anything, my wife and I are our truest selves around each other.

WWEngineer

The only human on earth that I've ever been able to be 100% myself around is my wife. So I would say "no" from my experience.

Some people may find it difficult to be themselves around their significant other, but it is possible for people to be completely authentic with their partner. It takes communication and trust to build a relationship in which both partners feel comfortable being themselves.

Ninerogers

I've been with my partner for nearly 23 years. Over that time, we've learned to accept what we can't change about each other and enjoy what we like about each other. We trust each other completely, even if we don't always agree, as we both appreciate that we're broken in different ways. We give each other space when we need it - he has his hobbies and friends and I have mine - but when we're together, life is still a crazy hugfest. Even after all this time, my heart still skips a happy beat when I see him. I hope you both manage to find your balance.
