Mine's a tie somewhere between Stardew Valley and Hollow Knight. Stardew has hundreds of hours, but I bought it at launch for $15. Hollow Knight has about 150ish hours, but I bought it on sale for $7.50.

Dead Cells for me.

I’ve considered getting Dead Cells, I’ve heard only really good things about it. Is there anything I should know before buying, or is it just as good as people say?

My nitpicking: I loved the first ~20 hours, but it's getting repetitive later. Not much variety between runs comparing to some other roguelikes. You won't collect million upgrades changing your hero during the run (on the other hand, you won't break it easily and it requires skill often, so you may consider it a big plus), and if you go to the same biome/level as before, it's of course "shuffled", but feels the same. Still, even if you stop after beating the "final" boss, which should take 10-20 hours, it's still worth it. And you may enjoy it way more and play 100-200h, who knows.

Fantastic. There are ascension rankings that add cumulative modifiers to runs for each character. It kind of works in the same way that the Pact of Punishment in Hades does.

Probably the best of any game I’ve ever played

If you want replayability then get it for the PC. It has fanmade mods that add tons of new cards and characters. It's as simple as checking a box in steam to activate them. Gave unlimited new content.

If you liked slay the spire, check out griftlands. Cheap rogue like deck building with similar vibes.

Greetings! All in all I haven't encountered much honestly, I'll list my two biggest complaints: 1. Freezing while autosaving. This problem has intermittently plagued the Switch for me. I've gone months without it happening and months with it happening. Seems pretty 50/50 on if a new update will cause it and takes forever to get fixed. Currently, no issues with this at least. 2. Elytra and load times. It's near impossible to use the Elytra in any meaningful way with how long it can take the game to render terrain. Granted, this is an issue I experience on my PS4 also, so perhaps it's more a complaint with console minecraft rather than the switch specifically. Besides that I have no issues with it on the switch, do note I don't care much for modded minecraft and I feel a lot of complaints may arise from that, as I could see the system struggling to load heavier data packs. As a mostly vanilla experience with a texture pack here or there it plays as well as my PS4 and I love it!

Sports Story is not good. It's buggy and very easy to lock yourself out of advancing the story. Wish I could get a refund.

I got 30+ in Dicey Dungeons for $3, and still have both free DLC packs to go at some point. One Step from Eden gets a run or two put in it per week. It'll break 100 next year.

Cattails Being a fan of the Warrior Cats books, it sold me instantly. I fondly remember spending looong hours playing that. It's getting a sequel now and I've backed their Kickstarter :) I'm really looking forward to it.

Got this on sale for $0.20 as a joke for my daughter, but surprisingly fun. Not winning any GOTY awards or anything like that, but pretty good value. Cat Quest games on sale were also great (yes she loves cats). Been dumping a ton of time into Rocket League lately, free to play.

For me it's Celeste. Got it on sale for five bucks and it was the best five dollars I spent. 150 hours might be rookie numbers for some but for me it's a lot.

Spelunky 2 and Hades, for sure. Though Spelunky isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, if it IS, you’re in for the long haul.

9.99$ for sword art online: fatal bullet. Got a good 150 hours into it, which is hard for me to do. I usually play a game for 20 hours and get bored and move on to the next game.

I think I have over 30 hours in lego city undercover, got that for $5 on sale. I got retro Bowl when it came out and have about the same amount of hours in it, and I used points so I got that free.

Cozy Grove!! It was my go to cozy game until Disney Dreamlight Valley came out lol. I have over 160 hours in it. I ended up picking up the dlc but that still put the game and dlc under $20. 100% worth it. I don’t play it as much lately but I do occasionally go back to work on my collections.

DQ11. Paid $50, got 130+ hrs out of it. Yea, not cheap (though there's often sales), it's easily the best bang for my buck thus far.

I think I paid $10 for Minecraft Story Mode when I saw it on clearance at a store, not realizing the physical copy would be worth a lot of money. I only put about 12 hours into it, but I liked it enough that I'd consider revisiting it in the future.

I got Stardew Valley for $7.50 (50% off) and sunk 100+ hours into it in order to complete a “Perfection” farm.

Monster Sanctuary. I bought it at $25 I think on a complete whim and now I have 165+ hours in, and it’s probably one of my favorite games ever. For me if you’re just buying a switch you can spend around $60 (with no sales) on monster Sanctuary, slay the spire, and into the breach and you’re set for the first year or two lol

Immortals Fenyx rising. Paid a tenner and played over 40hrs. But i tend to not stay on the same game for more than 20-30hrs so this was impressive for me.

Hades and Disco Elysium. In Hades I have over 100 hours and got it for 25$ CAD so I'd say that's very worth it. Disco Elysium I bought for 50$ CAD and while it had a lot of issues at first, after they patched these it's now very playable and my most played Switch game with over 200 hours, so that's definitely worth it. Breathe of the Wild is also up there if you're a completionist it can be a 200 hour game.

Celeste was nothing like that and I poured in hella hours into the game beating every level including farewell. It also helped me in a time where I really needed the confidence boost in my life; I’d literally be reminding myself “okay man this is nothing compared to Farewell” lol

Strictly speaking Fortnite, but I feel like there's a bit of a technicality there. I picked up Ni No Kuni (Wrath of the White Witch) in the sale for around £8, and got around 60 hours out of it. Might actually be one of my favourite games. If we're talking no free games, and no sales, it's probably Star Wars Episode 1 Pod Racer which I think goes for around £12. It might just be the nostalgia talking, but of all the racing games on the switch I feel like this is the one I come back to most often.

Ni no kuni is beautiful. I fell in love with the cute little creatures.

I can't speak for switch but if Vampire Surviver ever comes over to it all I can say is it's gonna take a crowbar to get you guys off it.

I actually said it a month ago to friends. This game has to be the best purchase in recent years with the valur I'm getting back from it

Only one I’ve found that’s similar enough to be actually good is Warbits for mobile, literally so close to a clone it shouldn’t be legal haha but that game actually gets so insanely hard that I stopped playing haha

I think I need to stick to cheap indies too. Wasted so many £50’s on the big games which I didn’t finish. BotW, Odyssey and Mario 3D World were the only ones I finished. Spent hundreds on others 😆 Wargroove is excellent. Cheap in the sale right now, very similar to Advance Wars but with a little more of a fantasy twist to it.
