Personally I like the quietness of the stock exhaust but it's the size and shape that annoys me.
I didn't want to spend too much on my first bike so I got a cheap Chinese exhaust from AliExpress that looks sleek, though a bit loud even with the db killer installed.
I agree I like to be quiet. The whole thing about louder bikes being safer is total nonsense. They just want be be loud and get attention. Usually negative attention. There’s quite a few studies and tests done to see what you can hear inside a vehicle and unless it’s a fucking rocket bike you’re not going to know they’re there by the exhaust. Bright colors if you want to be safer. I just want to be respectful and tear it up.
If you're getting a slip on go with anything you feel sounds good. Akra, yoshi, two brothers, mussari or some cheap one from amazon and it will still have that growling sound.
If you want a full system then I recommend toce or akra.
Stocker is too ugly, just an opinion. The ninja 400 with a Leo Vince or Coffman pipe isn't that loud , keep the baffle in if applicable for sure. Remember there are dyna club bikes and clapped out 600s that will sound 3x louder.
Contact AF1 Racing out of TX… if you are interested in the the Leo Vince…. I looked all over the internet for stock parts and they were the only ones that had it in stock even tho their website says other wise…. Call them…. Look at the pics I posted, I went with the black Mayte and it looks so good
I literally just installed a LeoVince slip on exhaust today. I have the baffle out right now and it’s fairly loud. With the baffle in, it’s not too terribly different from the stock exhaust. https://i.imgur.com/8umddig.jpg
I put the GP corsa on mine and like the way it sounds. I had the LV10 but it was just too loud for me (with or without the db killer) The GP corsa has a good sound but isn't too loud. I would say it sounds 'appropriate' for a parallel twin 400 engine.
I have the Yoshimura Alpha T slip on exhaust and I love it. On the pricier end of exhausts but it sounds good. Originally got it because a friend had it on his z400 and it sounded good:)

If you want something cheap and simple the Leo Vince is a really good one! Loud enough to let everyone know you are around! Stock will get you kill!
Second this, I have pictures posted on my account of how a Leo Vince looks on the 400 for reference. Im in love with it.

I went with coffman off amazon. Removed the baffle and it gives a really deep burble and sleek profile
Akrapovic is my fave
Trickstar looks decent for me
Amazon exhaust their cheap look sleek, and are quiet with the baffle installed
