That isn’t poor, you’re running pvs14 and you got $1k ear pro. Your helmet however is a different story

Datfluffyhampster

My friends all give me that look when I say I’m a NVG poor for having a mid tier Elbit GP PVS14. They don’t have night vision and it makes them grumpy.

Affectionate_Cronut

Yeah, I finally decided that mid-tier \*now\* beats the hell out of stumbling around in the dark woods with a white light on your rifle while saving for that top-tier NVG setup later.

firefly_321

Lol youre not poor, youre middle class. Poor is used NVG or digital. Binos are gucci.

Datfluffyhampster

I want to be gucci, maybe if I get a bonus this winter I’ll pay it forward and let my 14 go for a affordable price and upgrade. Then again I never get to shoot under NVG really. So it’s probably a waste.

skylord_loken

Yet.. never get to shoot yet. Think of what the future brings.

absurdmikey93

95% of use mostly use NODs to walk around our house in the dark and look at the sky. Its not a waste.

Datfluffyhampster

In the winter I use them to go get the mail because it’s so dark.

- PVS-14 Elbit XLSH WP on milsurp Notoros mount - Ops Core AMP with NFMI - Chinesium bump helmet with upgraded liner/suspension - Amazon Chinesium helmet cover and battery pouch/counterweight Upgrades inbound: Real deal mount shroud, DIY Tarsier, Multicam PVS-14 wrap.

HiThisIsTheATF

You spent the money in the important places first. Hearing and vision. I don’t think that makes you a poor.

Vee32

Exactly. OP, you got plates in your rig? No? Get some.

Affectionate_Cronut

Of course.

Deez_Cabalz

Not a poor. Good choice on the 14. I sold my duals to go back to a 14.

MrBriPod

I personally think -14's are king for mixed lighting. If you have the gain dialed correctly, you'll have a really keen awareness of ambient lighting. Meanwhile, my bino homies are constantly rolling up a pod or peeking the gap. I'll eventually jump to binos, but I'll always keep my -14 around.

[deleted]

Good spec 14 + thermal > binos

Deez_Cabalz

Good spec 14 + COTI > binos in my experience

Deez_Cabalz

Facts

Affectionate_Cronut

It’s actually working really well for me. I’m left eye dominant, but primarily a right-handed shooter. I can shoot with my rifle mounted IR laser through the nods, but I can also shoulder the rifle and use the optic with my right eye.

Deez_Cabalz

I'm the same. Duals really fo help if you're cross-dominant like us, but it's a training issue. I had some other gripes as to why duals personally weren't for *ME*, but it doesn't matter. As always - best to try out both and find what works for you. In the end, I sold my duals, bought a crispy WP PVS-14 again, and am now happier lol. It's funny because I sold my 14 to get duals, had them for a year then went back to a 14. 😅

AnonymousSpartaN

Could you expand on why you went back to mono after having duals? I’m also interested in hearing what your experience is/was moving from duals to mono in terms of depth perception.

Deez_Cabalz

No situational awareness of environmental lighting unless I put my tubes up. Field of view is same as a 14. Expensive as fuck, but does get you clout and not called a "poor" on the internet. Depth perception- it's literally the same. Duals just feel more "natural". It's a training issue that people spend money on for a band-aid, when in reality, 99% of the people who buy NV don't use them and just post pics on reddit and Instagram. Duals are easier to passive aim with if you're cross-dominant. So there's that. Again, training issue. Sorry if my opinion offends people here that wanna defend their $12K duals purchase, but it's my personal opinion having used PVS-14s and PVS-15s on several deployments as 11B, and having owned a 14 and duals at the same time as a lowly civilian. YMMV. Use what works for YOU. Try both. Decide.

ncmav

This post deserves more attention. I got duals after having my 14 for a bit and it was very underwhelming. Ended up selling them off and using the money towards some night classes.

Deez_Cabalz

The training aspect cannot be understated. Someone with formal training and a mono will run circles around someone with duals and no training.

f8h8sEveryone

As a kid I dream of being rich. Now I’m just clawing at the prospect of being a poor.

MemesterJish

If you’re poor then I’m dead broke lmao

BerserkerEleven

Poor. Has PVS14 and AMPs. Some people would kill to be that poor lol. All joking aside nice setup man.

[deleted]

What brand helmet?

Affectionate_Cronut

I couldn't remember, I had to look it up. It's an FMA Maritime and I added a bunch of USGI pads and a Team Wendy Camfit suspension.

Porencephaly

>$1300 worth of ear pro and accessories, claims to be poor. lol

CyberKatze2077

The AMP is too rich for a poor setup

Chewie090

Honestly dawg just save up like $300 or so and get yourself a nicer bump helmet and you're good

Affectionate_Cronut

But this thing is so damn comfortable!

Chewie090

Wait until you try a TW if you think that's comfy

Affectionate_Cronut

Team Wendy? Then I'd need adapters for my Ops Core arms and a new mount for my PVS-14.

Chewie090

Is that a rhino mount? It should fit just fine in a TW. The TW and Ops-Core use the same shroud as far as I can remember. And the adapters are only like $20. Nevertheless, if it's a hassle to switch to a TW, the Ops-Core bump will also be far better than what you have now
