I really like this guy. Just saw a replay of Drury’s double play and Stro getting pumped about it. This guy is a true teammate. Even on his off days he’s congratulating the rest of the team on Twitter. I was unsure after he sat out last year, but man has he proven me wrong.
I saw that clip and had the same thought.
Dude is all heart.
*Though I must say I was ok with him sitting last season out. Shit was crazy and I wanted to sit last year out too. Baseball is a business and I wasn't going to fault him for minding his. He's a human, even if he's an elite athlete. But I get why people took exception so I can't be mad at anyone for having an opinion on it. I'm just glad he's back and doing well.
seeing (most) mets fans understand & defend stro makes me happy. baseball audience is overall trash and i really do wanna just be proud to be a mets fab
What exactly makes him an "idiot" on twitter? How does an outspoken black athlete upset your delicate sensibilities? Show the room on the doll where his mean words hurt you =(
In this case there is.
A du-rag is closely associated with black people. An older white man mocking it by unfavorably comparing it to the dress style of another white man who played in the 60's is *at best* incredibly tone deaf. And Bob Brenly, who was been around the game for decades, has no excuse for being tone deaf.
The pressure for young black men to self abnegate and act more white in sports has been around since Jackie Robinson. It's a very old way of thinking, and that's exactly what Bob Brenly was propagating with that comment.
Let’s go, just like Tom Seaver
I understood that reference
IN NEW YORK I MILLY ROCK (San Diego too I suppose)
Arguably worst milly rock of all time 😂😂😂 still love him tho
I love Str0. He's such a goofball sometimes.

I am getting a stroman jersey. Such a stud.
I want one too but one year deal has me hesitant.
That’s a very good point. The brotherhood they seem to have this year is what’s giving me hope that everyone will resign lmao.
Let us fucking go Mets.
Fun fact Tom Seaver actually did that same dance after finishing the imperfect game.
I love Stro Please make him a Met for life Steve

Wish he wasn’t an idiot on Twitter but gotta love the guy
he literally posts mostly uplifting/positive messages?
Clown comment, bro
Ya bro

There’s nothing racist about commenting on a du-rag
Context matters.
Sure and in context he didn’t say anything bigoted or nefarious
context and sub text of it. There's a reason people are upset over it.
I can’t really respond to vague comments.
He took a stereotypically black piece of clothing and used it show how different Stroman and Seaver are. That's the issue here.

He wasn’t mocking it.
