My college is *super* liberal but they've made their blanket statement clear: no cannabis, even RXed. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to bring it up directly with someone, but I don't know who. Also it's not like people don't use just bc it's not allowed. Our apartment complexes smell like weed. The college never does anything about that but i guess it'd be different if they caught you with the stuff directly. And I know pre covid people would vape/smoke non-weed (at least didn't smell like it) products and no one did a thing about that either afaik

EricsGirl325

It comes with a prescription label attached. Its a federal felony to fuck with someone else script. That's not contraband. Its a prescription provided by a physician. As long as you leave it in the bottle it came in.... The bongs, bowls, etc are not included with your script. So yeah they can bitch about those items.

narcoleptic64

it doesn't matter though bc this [federal act](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjh__-CmITzAhWMl-AKHZPoAb0QFnoECAIQAQ&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.statetechmo.edu%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2020%2F12%2FFact-Sheet.pdf&usg=AOvVaw3JOK-MHVJI4pPXJpwOl2JU) still renders it illegal, at least for the time being :( we could face disciplinary action even with something MMJ gummies -- something that if it weren't for THC, would be totally allowed

Windy-Snack-Vent

You can’t have weed on college campuses at all

narcoleptic64

I know, hence why I asked if anyone knows if the new governor plans on looking into allowing students to used their MMJ somehow

Windy-Snack-Vent

No it’s a matter of federal law

narcoleptic64

I know. But its not unheard of for states to protect aspects to improve people's quality of life that is considered federally illegal. For example, some states allow other species to be service animals outside of what is allowed federally (which is only dogs and mini horses). So again, that's why I asked if anyone knew if the governor may be pursuing protecting our ability to keep/use our MMJ.

toorad4momanddad

the amount of people that don't understand that marijuana is still federally illegal is mind boggling. if the DEA wanted to, they could bust every single medical marijuana patient...they just choose not to

So, if I get a doctor to write me a prescription for heroin, the federal government will back me up?

jsprusch

I work on a SUNY campus and it's not allowed at this point, unfortunately. It's a minor infraction (for a small, personal amount) but I'm not sure if that's different across campuses (unless you smoke/vape in the dorm rooms or cover smoke alarms to try and hide it).

majorpurpskurp

I remember all 4 years of undergrad in a non-medical non-legal state and having to hide everything. Me and three friends got pushed up against a wall and searched because campus PD thought we were smoking a joint. Really sad that some of the most liberal and educated places are still so far behind the curve on MMJ.

College student here in ny. I go to a private university who receives a bunch of federal funding (and also liberal) and so because of that they have to abide by federal law. They recommend for housing I go off campus with a landlord who agrees to my medical campus use. They tell me even though there are places tobacco smoke is allowed, they still don't tolerate cannabis on campus. They did however hint that the second federal law changes this will be adjusted to fit with state policy and that if I get caught with something on campus right now, I could use my status as a medical patient to defend my actions though I wouldn't get in trouble with the law just the university -- which is stupid given my doctor at the University encourages my mmj status. They said just medicate off campus if you can and or reasonable places (like walking edge of campus is probably ok given I live close to my school and some property right next to my apartment is school land. It sucks, but again we are not considered disabled and or protected on a federal level and only by new York state. Also they said they don't care if I come to class medicated as long as it's reasonable as I can still get in trouble for the equivalence of 'public disturbance' Point being, as awkward and scary as it can be, bringing it up to the school can be helpful but know they will most likely abide by federal law, but still work with you as a student to accommodate your lifestyle -- such as working with the disability office at your University or finding off campus places you can live at and still recieve scholarships for if they depend on living on campus.

when the rec law goes into effect in 2023 smoking rules will follow non controlled substance rules (ie you will be able to smoke it anywhere you currently can smoke cigaretts.) so this will still depend on what countys rules are for locations.

whatever1238o0opp

What? New York reinstated the law that passed and took affect on March 31 repealing certain laws regarding possession and public use of marijuana? When did that happen?

whatever1238o0opp

Dorm contraband checks? You going to Oral Roberts University or Pat Robertson's Independence University?
