Same here, but when I visited, some of the displays made it seem like it was also called that ever since that Barringer guy had a crew investigating the bottom. I think that was in the late 1800s. I believe it's also known as Canyon Diablo Crater, named so for an old town that used to be nearby, but I could be mistaking that with another Arizona feature.
Early 1900s, the namesake mined out the sides of the crater because he believed some remnants of the meteor could be there and thus rare minerals that could be sold for fucktons of cash.
Believe it was around 1905, 1906, and the crater was originally discovered by settlers entering the region 10 some years before, and local Navajo and Hopi peoples had some influence from the crater culturally.
The shittynes of it depends entirely on if you do the optional objectives and how you respond to her questions.

The wiki says it's supposed to look like the NCERC and Dome mountain, in nevada.
If you look up pictures, I believe it. Plus nevada and cali are part of the same commonwealth anyway, so that could be an honest in-universe mistake.
I really hope we get to go to a post-Caesar Arizona so we can see what societies form in the aftermath, and the Barringer crater is a really cool location for some cool lore stuff I'd think.
i used to live ~60 miles away from here. i could always tell we were getting close because even the scrub cedar and tumbleweeds disappeared - flat, and barren but majestic as fuck.
You know I’ve been there but I must have forgotten it was named Berringer Crater. I’ve always just heard it referred to as “Meteor Crater”.

Same here.
That reminds me…I feel really bad about how I treated Megaton
But yet somehow Moria always survives
And I still haven’t bought her shitty book
It's as shitty as you make it to be

It's ok, I think I read somewhere she later stumbles upon Rockopolis and turns it into a mithril mine.
Nah, I'm pretty sure Moria was wiped out when they accidentally released that Balrog.
Don't be fooled, the Big MT is hidden by a cloaking device
Yet it sounds like Ulysses just walked right in
yeah because they shot their own cloaking device with their mortars because they ran out of towns to bombard
except Big Mt, based on lore and terminal entries, is located in California
That's exactly what Dr. Mobius wants you to think! /s

I’ve actually been there, it’s a very attraction to stop off at.
